Mercure properties in Kunming

After traveling for so long, I'm no longer fixated on established five-star hotels. Staying in too many large hotel resorts has led to aesthetic fatigue; I now prioritize daily convenience when choosing accommodation. Many old-brand five-star hotels, despite their luxurious decor, don't even have basic self-service laundry facilities, still relying on expensive paid laundry services, and even require a deposit upon check-in. This was my first time staying at a Mercure managed by HUAZHU Group, and I found it completely different from Mercure hotels in Malaysia. Malaysian Mercure hotels don't even have robot food delivery (you have to go down and get your own takeout), no self-service laundry, and their decor is a dull, monotonous business style. Chinese Mercure hotels offer a completely different quality – they are 'small & luxurious,' embodying a 'small but beautiful' aesthetic with a touch of French Provencal romance. The overall color scheme is a gentle, soothing lavender-Morandi palette. There's no exaggerated or heavy decor; instead, the ambiance is created by delicate French lines and warm, soft furnishings. Entering feels like stepping into a hidden courtyard in Southern France, accompanied by a subtle, elegant fragrance and soothing French melodies. The romantic atmosphere is just right, making you wonder, 'Is this really a Mercure brand?' It opened in 2026 and features a 24-hour free self-service laundry room, making it easy to wash clothes and keep them smelling fresh during your travels.😌 It's equipped with a full set of professional Technogym fitness equipment. The gym is right next to the laundry/dobi, so you can work out while waiting for your clothes. All in-room audio-visual resources are free. You don't need to pay extra to watch dramas or movies; both movies 🎬 and TV shows are the latest releases. Watching dramas in the hotel on a rainy day is the best!😛 The 'free' part honestly surprised me, because at Intercity, also under HUAZHU, you have to pay. The location is also good. It's a short walk of about 900 meters directly to Wujiaba Central Park, great for a morning jog or stroll. There's a 'Haile World' Shopping Mall near the hotel, which is pretty good too.👍 ⚠️ Friendly check-in tip: The road in front of the hotel's main entrance is currently fenced off for control, so vehicles cannot stop at the entrance for loading/unloading luggage. You can navigate directly to the entrance of Longhu Zichen underground parking. After parking, you can borrow a hotel luggage cart, and the elevator goes directly to the lobby. Staff can also assist with luggage, so you don't have to carry your suitcases and walk a long distance. The only minor drawback is the pillows. After sleeping on Atour's pillows, I honestly feel Mercure's pillows are slightly inferior; the softness, firmness, and support are lacking. The sleep quality simply can't compare to Atour Pro 3. If they could optimize and upgrade the pillows, the overall experience would truly be impeccable, almost perfect.

The room was spotless, service was excellent, and the environment was top-notch! The airport transfer service was punctual and incredibly thoughtful, making us feel at ease, secure, and truly cared for. Breakfast started at 5:00 AM, specifically catering to guests with early flights, and offered a wide variety of delicious options.
