I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto. Upon check-in, I was delighted by a thoughtful perk: every guest gets to choose two small gifts from a selection that included moisturizing masks, hair bands, lotions, bath salts, and more. This added a nice personal touch to the experience.
I booked a small double room for under $80 USD, which, while not cheap, is relatively affordable for Kyoto. The room was compact but well-designed, offering enough space to comfortably access the bed from both the side and bottom. The bathroom, though small, was functional, featuring a bidet (common in Japan), a deep but short bathtub, and plenty of amenities. The hotel also provided pajamas, slippers, a hot water kettle, tea, glass cups, and reliable Wi-Fi, making the stay even more convenient.
The room had windows that could be opened or closed for ventilation, and both the AC and hot water worked flawlessly, ensuring a comfortable environment. While breakfast was available, I opted not to try it due to its price of around ¥1600 and my past experiences with underwhelming hotel breakfasts.
The only downside was the early 10 AM checkout time, which led to a bit of a rush for the elevator in the morning. However, this was a minor inconvenience compared to the overall quality of the stay.
For travelers seeking a comfortable and budget-friendly option in Kyoto with thoughtful amenities, I highly recommend Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto.

Kansei Kyoto Hachijo, a hotel designed to inspire your senses and promote well-being, will open in March 2025.

I had a great stay at Kansei Hachijo in Kyoto. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, making check-in and everything else smooth and pleasant. The service overall was excellent—everything felt thoughtful and well-managed.
The location is also a big plus—just a short walk to Kyoto Station, which made it super convenient for getting around the city or catching trains to other areas.
No complaints at all. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-located stay in Kyoto.

It was much better than I expected!
When checking in and checking out,
the staff were very friendly,
and it was literally a 15-minute walk to Nijo Station,
there was a restaurant right in front,
and a convenience store in the alley, and everything was around.
I was satisfied with all the facilities inside.
The interior was also modern 👍🏻 my style.
However, there was a peculiar smell in the bathroom,
but it wasn't uncomfortable. The water pressure was very
strong, so I washed more comfortably than at home. 🤭

Let me talk about the size of the room first. Compared with the average Japanese business traveler, this room can be described as super comfortable. There is no sense of oppression. The room facilities are all well equipped, and there should be some, because we go in winter, and there is also a big terrace. Warm stickers are provided, but we just happened to have prepared ourselves so we didn’t take the position. It was in the middle of the Shijo and Wujo stations. If you are pulling luggage, you should pay attention to which exit has an elevator, or you will have to go up the stairs yourself.

The B&B is very clean. It is located in a residential area. The residents are quite quiet. There is just a bit of noise from passing cars at night. It is a good place to experience a Japanese cabin. It is especially suitable for a family. It is more comfortable than staying in a hotel. It is spacious and has many rooms. It has a living room and takes into account both privacy and privacy. Family interactions. There are kitchen supplies so you can cook your own meals. The nearby 24-hour supermarket is very convenient for buying ingredients and making Japanese hot pot. You can use Uber to call a car to the door of your room. The landlord responded promptly via WeChat and provided detailed information about the surrounding area.
It is recommended that there be a small table next to the sink to store cosmetics, or a tabletop mirror to facilitate putting on makeup on the living room table. Slippers are difficult to wear, and it would be better to provide disposable toiletries. Overall it's worth staying, especially for family travel.
Some information for other friends who are making reservations: There is a subway station ten minutes away, but the Kyoto subway is not very convenient. The main bus is the main one, but the bus is a bit laborious. Basically, it is simple and straightforward to use Uber. A taxi from Kyoto Station costs about 1,100 yen, Eikan-do Temple is 3,800 yen, Nishi Honganji Temple is 1,600 yen, Tofukuji Temple is 1,300 yen, and Kiyomizu Temple is 3,400 yen.

I stayed at a friend's homestay in Nakamosatori Japan when I was in Japan before and it was great. This time I experienced a homestay in Kyoto again. It was a very cozy homestay, very clean, and the facilities were pretty good. The transportation was quite convenient, and the surrounding buses were very convenient to several attractions. The most important thing was that I could cook Sukiyaki in the room. The black beef sold in the 24-hour supermarket recommended by the boss was great, much more cost-effective than what we ate in Kobe, and my family liked it very much. Next time I plan to stay a few more days to have a deep tour in Kyoto.

We are three big and three small stays
Location: It takes a few minutes to get off the subway station. It is very easy to find. It is 10 minutes drive from Kyoto Station. It is convenient to go to any scenic spot at the bus stop at the intersection.
Environment: The house is clean, exquisite and beautiful, the furniture and appliances are very new, and all kinds of facilities are very good. The community is very quiet, there is a small park at the door, and children can go there to play. The East Temple next to it is also very beautiful and easy to visit, and there are few tourists.
Service: The landlord is responsive and also introduced many delicious places nearby.
The trip was very happy. I highly recommend everyone to come to Kyoto to live here!

KKawintopA Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort in Kyoto
During my recent stay at Saka Hotel Kyoto, I was immediately struck by its peaceful surroundings and inviting atmosphere. Located in the charming Higashiyama neighborhood, it offers an ideal launching point for discovering Kyoto’s historic sites. Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city.
From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home.
My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets.
Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

YYI HUEYThe accommodation experience in the townhouse is really authentic. The house is beautiful and very comfortable as soon as you enter the house. No matter how you take photos there, it is very interesting. We were very satisfied with the food at the hotel because we have family members who don’t eat beef. Although the hotel couldn’t do it at first, they were willing to communicate and let us choose different foods. Thank you very much!

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

Jjan96The best hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan! It’s even better than another 4-star hotel I stayed at in Tokyo. Interactions with the staff were minimal, so I have no comments on that. However, the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and spotless. I loved that the bathroom was larger than the usual hotel bathrooms, and the shower was separate from the bathtub as well.
The hotel offers great amenities, including a laundry machine, vending machines. There were also complimentary toiletries and drinks offered in the lobby.
While the location is a bit far from the main tourist attractions, there’s a convenient loop bus from Kanazawa Station that stops at various tourist spots, so getting around was still easy. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby, along with a large shopping mall. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Kanazawa Station via the side exit near the dorayaki shop, which was very convenient. Plus, having a 7-Eleven directly connected to the hotel on the first floor was a huge plus!
The only downside was the buffet breakfast — while the selection was large, with both Italian and Japanese options, the taste was pretty average. I’d recommend skipping it since there are many nearby restaurants and a 7-Eleven. Another small thing was that the double bed came with only one pillow, whereas all the other hotels I stayed at provided at least two.
Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers!

GGuest UserOur stay at Kyoto Village was delightful and offered a perfect base for exploring Kyoto and the surrounding areas. The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance to major attractions like Nishiki Market and Gion, where we enjoyed strolling through Pontocho Street, sampling yakitori, and soaking up the quintessentially Japanese street atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing us with a parking permit for a nearby garage and even assisting with parking, which made the process stress-free.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed a casual meal of sushi we had purchased in Uji earlier in the day. After a long walk and some late-night supermarket shopping, we relaxed in the hotel's onsen—a truly peaceful way to end the evening.
The next day, after a convenient breakfast delivered to our room, we ventured out to Arashiyama and the Bamboo Forest. Despite the crowds, the scenic views and natural beauty were well worth the visit. Later, we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha, where we managed to catch the last bit of sunlight and explore the shrine in a quieter, more serene atmosphere.
Overall, the location of Kyoto Village, coupled with its proximity to key attractions and the relaxing onsen, made this stay a great experience. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Kyoto in comfort and style.
Ffang001206Although it is a little far from the subway entrance, about 7-8 minutes, it is quiet. There is a Zhuyi (Michelin one star) next to it, and there is always a queue. I was lucky enough to eat there once, and it was very good. The high-speed rail Japanese-style room I booked has a traditional big bed and Japanese tatami. The room is very large. The private bath on the first floor is also great, and the front desk service is also very good. I experienced delicious food and Japanese breakfast, and I was so full! My daughter is very satisfied!

VVictorWas recommended to this by a friend. The room is really spacious. The living room comes with a sofa and a smart TV that you can screencast if you know how. There is a clothes rack and my room is next to the laundry room. Yes, you can do your washing and drying there. I did that on my third day there. There is also a balcony where you can hang your clothes out to dry. The access is secured by a reinforced glass slider, while the balcony is also secured by grills, giving one a good sense of security. The toilet comes with a tub, and a ventilator to prevent mould and mildew. There is a mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle and an induction top. There are bowls and pots too for light cooking if you like. Lets not forget, that they also provide umbrellas for guests use too! The amenities provided meets my needs.
The location is not exactly the best however. Quite a bit of walking is required from Kyoto station, and/or from the bus stop from Kyoto Aquarium. But there are a few vending machines in the immediate vicinity and a mini stop convenience store just over at the Kyoto Aquarium there. But still acceptable given the room size and amenities.
Overall a pleasant stay.
Didnt manage to take the photos of the room. Just refer to the ones by the hotel. They painted quite an accurate picture.

HHelen-sanfushuyuanThe moment I checked in, I was shocked by the simple room, the super small public toilet, the old bathhouse with old facilities, and the slightly musty old house. It was not until I was on the way back from visiting Rurikoin that I realized that I was living in a museum. When I opened the door, I met the smiling and friendly waiter again. The living room was already a picture of a happy United Nations banquet. Travelers from all over the world were eating hot Japanese hot pot at their respective tables, and they were once again infected by this warm, integrated, and family-like atmosphere. It is worth recommending to stay for one night (the sanitary conditions can still be overcome for one night), and the surrounding Sanzen-in Temple is also worth a visit!
