Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Jokyoji ★★★★

📍 Teianmaenocho 620, Shimogyō-ku, Kyoto

"Comprehensive and exquisite breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. Decent room. There was a restaurant we couldn't find at the time, and the front desk staff, both a lady and a gentleman, specifically took out a map and patiently helped us locate it, even offering recommendations. This left a lasting impression on us."

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo
9.3 (1,090 reviews)

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo ★★★

📍 391-1 Shiogamacho Shimogyo Ward, Shimogyō-ku, Kyoto

"This is a great hotel, conveniently located near the station and attractions. You can reach Kyoto Station and the surrounding commercial areas within 20 minutes. My only minor complaint is that when I opened the window, all I saw was a staircase instead of an outside view, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, everything else was perfect."

HOTEL TAVINOS Kyoto

HOTEL TAVINOS Kyoto ★★★

📍 Azuchicho 612, Kawaramachi-Dori Gojo Agaru, Shimogyō-ku, Kyoto

Smile Hotel Kyoto karasmagojo ★★★

📍 Osakacho, 396-3, Shimogyō-ku, Kyoto

"Smile Hotel Kyoto Karasumagojo was a great budget-friendly stay in Kyoto. The location is excellent, right next to Gojo Station and within walking distance of Kyoto Station. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the free coffee was a nice touch. Rooms are a bit small, but that’s common in Japan and still comfortable for a short stay. Overall, great value for money and I’d stay again."

The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books
9.0 (472 reviews)

The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books ★★★

📍 Nisihorikawatsuuanesyouzikudaru, Anenishihorikawacho, 508, Nakagyō-ku, Kyoto

"This is my favourite hotel on our travels around Japan. The room size was a little small but it was fine for a few nights as a base to explore Kyoto. It's walking distance from some great sites like Nijo Castle, the Samurai Ninja museum and the bustling market. The transport links are great and easy to get to most places of interest. Staff were very helpful and even rushed to fetch towels when we came in from the rain. There is no restaurant on site so, breakfast is only a bento box but it was so tasty! And there's a fantastic little cafe/restaurant just down the street (to the right as you leave the hotel) which was lovely for dinner. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have a larger selection of manga in English or other languages."

APA Hotel Kyoto-Ekikita
8.5 (102 reviews)

APA Hotel Kyoto-Ekikita ★★★

📍 597-2 Higashishiokojicho, Shimogyō-ku, Kyoto

"Great location, 5 min walk from Kyoto station..."

9.2 (505 reviews)

Hotel the M's Kyoto ★★★

📍 6 Higashikujo Higashisannocho, Minami-ku, Kyoto

"Hotel was near kyoto station and ywtwo malls, very convenient location to travel around the places of attraction. Room was also spacious, and we enjoyed the lobby area. Highly recommend!"

The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books ★★★
"The hotel was clean and well located, very close to Lawson, 7-Eleven and bus station. Less than 20 minutes from Kyoto station by bus. Staff was polite, good English communication. Amenities were good (you can take as many as you want free of charge at the reception). It was clean, size is similar to other hotels in Japan (need to store the luggage under the bed). The only downside was the bed, which was too hard for me."
