Universal Hotel Laguna

Hotel with a pleasant atmosphere, amazing sea view, nice decorations and delicious food in the restaurant. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Staff is very friendly. There is nothing to complain about. Highly recommended for families or people who want a quiet destination with a beautiful beach and clean sea.

What a great hotel! We expected the hotel to be good, based on the reviews. Honestly speaking, we got surprised to see how good it it. This hotel is extremely well managed. Super clean(both rooms and common areas), well trained staff, delicious food (the restaurant is REALLY good - we took the full board and it was a pleasant surprise). The beach is 50 meters aways, super clean and sandy. Great job Juan in running the is hotel - we will be back!

Excellent hotel. Staff very cheerful and attentive. Food first class and lots of choice. Fabulous sea views from the front facing rooms. Location good for us as quiet but lots of opportunities to walk or visit local towns. The evening entertainment was not for us but many others seemed to like it. All was quiet by 10.30. We would definitely go again.

We enjoyed the stay, it was fabolous. The rooms were clean, very clean! Everything we needed was available and staff was friendly. Kids enjoyed the pool and there were also possibilities to play ping-pong or pool. Would stay again.

We didn't actually stay at the hotel but were at the Laguna apartments and so were able to use the facilities of the hotel where we also enjoyed half board. The hotel appears to be run very efficiently by the manager and the cleanliness and attention to detail is fantastic. The pool and gardens are exceptionally maintained and the waiting staff and cooks are friendly and professional. The restaurant area was spotless and every item was replenished before it even ran out. There were 2 - 3 meats and 2 types of fish each evening plus several other dishes, a vegetarian selection and children's choices. The bread was superb and the choice at breakfast was huge. Justyna cooked amazing omelettes and crepes and was always friendly and welcoming as was the main chef. The pool was beautifully warm and the view of the beach from the pool was lovely. The sea was also a perfect temperature in July. My only gripes included the sun lounger policy - you can reserve a sun lounger by paying a daily fee so that you can have the same one each day. We didn't bother as it wasn't important to us where we sat. However you can be sitting on an unreserved lounger only to be told you have to move because someone has just chosen to reserve your one! It is rather embarrassing being turfed off and one poor family even ended up with nowhere to sit as all of the others were taken! The other annoyance was the 3.8 euro charge for a 750ml bottle of water in the restaurant. Still we loved the apartment and hotel and Canyamel so would definitely recommend this to others.

+ Rooms, cleanliness, location, tranquility, girls on reception, animation - Poor choice of food, personnel of the restaurant (not very involved into the process and ready to help), lack of clean cups and glasses during the breakfast, taste of water from the machine at the restaurant was bad.
