Modern Cave Boutique Stay

This clean and stylish homestay is a maximum 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Jonker Street and the other main attractions of Melaka. Jannet was very welcoming and efficient, making sure we were enjoying our stay. The room was well equipped - bed was comfy, strong WiFi connection and Astro TV. Communal fridge and cooking area available, should you want to use it. We were able to park right outside. Recommend stay when in Melaka.

Helpful staff. Great location (5 minutes walk to Jonker Street). Clean and nicely decorated. Toiletries, bath towels, television and hairdryer are provided. There's an large private, open air parking in front of the homestay.

The hostel is a 'madeover' from a terrace house within a residential area, maybe less than 10 minutes away from the buzzling Jonker Street, near Casa del rio. Rooms are reasonably clean although can find cobweb at corners. Has a few lounge area for relaxing, free coffee and tea and toast for breakfast. Good enough for a short getaway.

Great environment with friendly and helpful staff. Allowed me to bring my bicycle in the waiting area. Clean dining area, best to chill. Near to Jonker Walk and Famous Roti Naan Pak Putra. Overall, thanks for your good customer service.

The most famous historic city, Malacca (locally known as Melaka), attracts travelers all over the world for its rich multi-cultural background, also famous for it's great local cuisine, Jonker street in the heart of the town and its night market over the weekends...above all, the location is not too far from capital city KL. If you are planning for a short trip, I would suggest to chose an accommodation closer to town center where most of the attractions are within walking distance (or well within a fancy trishaw ride, if you like..) I found Modern Cave Boutique stay as one such convenient place, within ten minutes walking distance from Jonker Street and thats the best part about this property. Based on my experience, the pros are - Well organized & helpful staff, who understand how to take care of guests and they do give attention to details. Its a boutique stay, with different types of rooms to chose at the time of booking. Please do note, It's not in the category of a hotel. The place is well maintained, well secured with access card cotrol in place Rooms are quite comfortable with excellent sleep quality experience No brekafast but there is provision for light snacks, coffee, drinking water round the clock (self service) There is a small outdoor sit out area, its a great place to spend some relaxed time in the evening The place feels very cozy with a homely atmosphere Good wi-fi coverage Things you must take note - ground floor rooms do not have attached toilet, these are twin-sharing/couple rooms. Things which can be improved - to provide better variety of snacks and provision for tea, coffee, chocolate drink etc. A mini refrigerator with some soft drinks options would be great. Personally, I prefer staying closer to Jonker street, local restaurants around Jonker Street/Red Square and in the close proximity of river walk/river cruise. For quick access to these places, Modern Cave Boutique stay is well worth it and I would strongly recomend it, great value for money.

We stayed for 2 nights at Modern Cave, which I can't recommend enough! The place itself is beautifully decorated and feels very modern, the staff are very friendly and it's in a great location - 5 mins walk or so to Jonker Street. It doesn't say modern cave on the front so I would imagine some people have difficulty in finding it, especially in the dark! We booked the private twin bunk room due to availability and were pleased with it. It was very clean, ok size, lovely shower and the bunks were very comfy and sturdy. Breakfast is just toast however you could go out and get some additional bits like eggs - the kitchen is very clean and tidy! And you do need to use the flip flops provided for cleanliness but we just walked round in our socks in the end. The only downside to this place was the noise that came from the common area in the evening but it wasn't enough to keep us up in the end and I think this is because the private bunk room is right next to the common area, plus the floors are all hard so noise travels more! Janet was extremely helpful on our last day when my boyfriend didn't feel at all well. She referred us to the Dr across the road, made him a easy cup of tea and also booked us a taxi to KL! The only bits of improvement would be to include hand towels for the private bathrooms (one towel isn't enough!), put signs up to remind people to keep quiet after a certain time! But all in all, these are minor details and modern cave is great value! Highly recommend!
