First, I should mention that I didn't book a yoga retreat at Nalanda through an external provider, but rather booked directly. We were unfortunately disappointed with our stay, for several reasons. Listing them all would be beyond the scope of this article, so I'll highlight a few points. The food on offer was definitely a positive. It changed every day, was of very good quality, and tasted amazing. Furthermore, the restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly. The yoga classes were also very good; the instructors put a lot of effort into their work and seemed well-trained. Now for the negative points—from our perspective. We had originally booked an Ayurveda retreat (including daily massages, medication prescribed by a doctor, a consultation with the doctor, and two daily yoga sessions). We inquired in advance whether we could spontaneously choose the specific Ayurveda retreat on site, and we were assured of this. It was also noted that the prices for the packages were the same. After arriving, we wanted information about the different retreats, but the lady who was supposed to explain them to us couldn't explain the differences. We opted for the yoga holiday package with daily massages. The following day, we received our schedule, which showed that there would be no massages on two of the six days. We were told the price was the same. We spoke to other guests on site. They told us they were paying about a third less for the same services (daily yoga session, breakfast + dinner, 2 massages instead of 5). When we complained about this at the reception, we were told that *** would offer us a free massage, but that more cannot be decided on site and that we should write an email. We have now been exchanging emails with Nalanda for over two months. A solution is not in sight; we were offered a voucher for 150 euros for our next stay. Since this will not take place, we have requested a refund of at least this amount. The decision is still pending. The reason given for this has been the end of the season for weeks. - Our room was very dark and not as open and bright as the pictures on the website. - We did not receive a room cleaning from Nalanda in 6 days. This was done after we had requested it three times and had to remind the staff over a day and a half. - The reception staff generally seemed very overwhelmed. For example, when *** asked for new toilet paper, it was immediately promised, but hours later it still wasn't in the room, and *** had to ask again. - The yoga class was canceled once on the weekend without a replacement. When we asked at the reception, we received
