The Sebel Maroochydore

At the present times 2024 December The Sebel Maroochydore has No Pool it is a construction zone. It will be this way until April 2025 . The jack hammer is deafening every day. DO NOT STAY HERE. After work is complete it will be okay but for the next 5 months do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Never in my life have I had to deal with a staff member so rude. There were multiple occasions where the front desk worker Olivia was unprofessional and dismissive, offering absolutely no help when we were locked out of our apartment and again when a belonging of mine went missing. Her manner was abrupt & argumentative from the get go. At one point she actually raised her palm up to cut me off whilst I was expressing my concerns and was constantly talking over me. I have never felt so belittled in my life. Her interpersonal skills are absolutely atrocious and I am still struggling to comprehend how a person this hostile could be employed by the hotel. I would not recommend that anyone stays here.

It seems from previous reviews that the standard of apartments in this block vary greatly. Many if not all are privately owned hence the difference. As it happens we had a very clean. comfortable apartment on the 6th floor for a week. I think the floorplan of most of the apartments is much the same with 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge and balcony. Our apartment had a very comfortable king size bed in one bedroom and a queen size bed in the other together with an en-suite bathroom. The kitchen / lounge area had a very good sized fridge, microwave and dishwasher. A large 65" TV in the lounge and a smaller TV in one of the bedrooms. They all had access to the various streaming services but for the paid services like Netflix you needed you own logon. The ABC and SBS services were available. The lounge furniture was good, the couch, lounge chairs and dining table were comfortable. The balcony had table and chairs so you could have meals there. There were also two sun lounges. The only issue was the wi-fi speed. We had read that the speed would be 25 bps which is very slow by today's standard but unlike many other holiday apartments it was free but don't expect to be watching YouTube clips if someone else in your apartment is online at the same time - in fact sometimes it can be so slow as to be unusable. Many other holiday apartments we checked required an extra payment for the wi-fi or had other restrictions. A curious issue when we expect hotels, etc to provide usable wi-fi as a matter of course.

A warning. My wife booked a family holiday at the Sebel in Maroochydore many months ago, realising Xmas is a peak period. We have family in Maroochydore. We paid a deposit and we were excited about our holiday. Today we received a call from Sabbina the receptionist at the Sebel informing us, 6 weeks from the busiest peak time, that the Sebel was undergoing major renovations work over Xmas and they would try and keep the noise to a minimum. Also the swimming pool would be closed during the renovations. No offer of a discount. My wife was surprised and asked why they would undertake a major renovation during peak times. My wife asked to speak to a supervisor, Sobbina (poor girl) broke down in tears, she must be getting some upset customers when she tells them of the disruptions the holiday makers would be facing. We feel for her, not her fault. The supervisor Liani spoke with my wife telling her that they could offer a refund or they could try and find alternative accommodation for us, which they did unfortunately it was at the back of the shopping centre with not beach views, not sure if it had access to a pool, same price again no discount offered. Anyway we contacted our travel agent who has booked us into a lovely apartment at the Breeze. We were so lucky got get it , it was a recent cancellation. I cannot believe the Sebel was unaware that major renovations were being undertaken with only 6 weeks notice. Very poor. They can't expect to charge visitors the same money without the benefits of peace and quiet and a swimming pool in December. Just wanted to warn others who maybe intending on staying there over Xmas 24.

The location of this apartment hotel is great. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the ocean. The views are great and nicely building is nicely oriented getting lots of sunshine throughout the day. We did not use the swimming pool. The apartment itself is spacious with one bedroom in the front with water views and its own spacious ensuite. The other bedroom is at the back with its own toilet/ensuite. The apartment has all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. The place needs a little TLC. The safe was locked and couldn't be fixed so we were giving a key to operate it during our stay. The remote for the dvd player did not have batteries and didn't work even after installing them!.. Some of the dvds available at reception were old and freeze half-way the movie. The reception staff are helpful but not friendly avoiding to look at and greet guests when passing through!! We had a wonderful stay but with little extra care, this place could be a 5 star place.

first time at the Sebel, rooms are well equipped and the area is close by to food outlets, cafes, oceanview apartment has a great view. the downside is the property needs upgrading to maintain the sebel standard. front desk experience was quick and staff members are friendly.
