Ibis Styles Kingsgate Hotel

I recently stayed at Ibis Styles Kingsgate in Melbourne for a few nights, and my experience was a mix of positives and disappointments. The hotel is in a great location in the CBD, just a short walk from Southern Cross Station, which made getting there from the airport easy via SkyBus. Trams are also nearby, so getting around the city was no hassle. The single room I booked was compact but functional. The decor was simple, and the bed was comfortable enough for a budget stay. However, I had some issues with the cleanliness and condition of the furnishings. The room felt a little outdated, and the bed linen had visible wear and tear. Housekeeping was not up to standard, and I even encountered damaged bedding with exposed stuffing, which was quite off-putting. While the staff were friendly when approached, the overall maintenance of the hotel definitely needs improvement. One of the nicer aspects of the hotel was the common areas. The lounge had a cozy atmosphere, with bookshelves and warm lighting that gave off a heritage-style charm, which was a contrast to the actual room experience. The facilities were basic, but for a budget stay, they were acceptable. The price was reasonable for a centrally located hotel, but considering the issues with cleanliness and room upkeep, I expected better. It’s an okay option if you’re after an affordable place to stay in the city, but be prepared for some compromises. If they improved their maintenance and housekeeping, it would be a much better value-for-money choice.

The room was so quaint and manageable. My single room window also looked out onto the Main Street. The breakfast was 15 dollars and filling. The gym was empty and had what a needed for a daily morning workout!

Travelled with my mother and we had 2 single beds. Could not access the safe easily as bed covered the door. The room was so small, and noisy as our room backed on to a vented area with some sort of motor that ran all night. The water was hot which was great.

Staff was nice we arrived before check in time and they let us check in early because the room is ready. Maybe they just renovated still can smell color from the walkway. Overall was good! Thank you. :)

It was a rather disappointing stay we ended up booking a different hotel on our second night. We went to Melbourne for a weekend trip hoping to at least have a restful place to crash. Unfortunately, the room was dirty with blood stains on the carpet. The room vibe felt depressing with window view being the inside of the building (ground level) full of trash/wood. It just did not feel like a place you would want to go home and get sleep.

The hotel is ok, but every time I book which I book every week, they put me on the 1st floor in the middle where all the noise are even I thought I requested for top floor. I have classes opposite which is convenient for me. One time I came back from classes I found lots of towels on my bed and when I had a shower there's was no body wash on the wall which I had to run and grab one. Last night was really bad there was banging throughout the night and I had to force myself to fall sleep.. BTW I had a sleepy day in class and failed a Role play examination which I have to do next term. Thank you for that. I stay with you every Monday night because I travel from Sydney every week. I really don't ask for much but this was so annoying. I will try one more week with your hotel. If this doesn't work I'll look to stay elsewhere. Thank you
