Ibis Styles Metz Centre Gare

This is a lovely old hotel (above the main door in the stonework it says the royal hotel) an easy walk from the train station. Decor is lovely. There are extra sitting rooms downstairs and self serve tea and coffee is provided. Room was spacious for an Ibis, large bathroom, very comfortable beds and quiet. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, I don't think there were enough staff to cope with the number of guests, everything from food to cutlery kept running out. Loved the yoghurt and fruit but everything else was very carb heavy but that is probably my taste rather than French. My only problem was the house keeping lady. We had asked if we could stay an extra 30/60 minutes so we didnt have to hang around the train station and were told no problem the night before, yet at 1210 there was banging on the door and this angry lady was saying get out you leave, she would not listen to me, possibly a language issue but there was no mistaking the angry face. Maybe she should concentrate on the mouldy bathroom, unfilled soap containers and missing towels before she is rude to guests?

Stayed 2 nights and all was fine. Our twin room overlooked the street, but it was not noisy and we slept well, in comfortable beds. Pleasantly surprised to find a bathroom much bigger than is normal in budget hotels, shower and towels good. Standard fare at breakfast. The staff were busy but could have paid a little more attention to wiping down the tables and chairs after each setting. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Gare de Metz and there is a free shuttle bus which stops a few metres away, running to and from the town centre, only a few minutes away. Would return and recommend.

I stayed in this hotel before but it was not as good as I remembered. Room is OK but bathroom is very outdated. There was a shower curtain which is not the style I expect when I book an Ibis Styles hotel. I recently stayed in the Ibis Styles in Dijon and that was so much better than this hotel. The difference is very big. We were at the 4th floor and the elevator was out of order (evening and next morning as well). Hotel is not clean, there was a lot of dust on the stairs. Location of the hotel is good but there are other options in the area and I would not come back again.

Staff in the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is very poor and not worthy of the IBIS Styles rating. The room was reasonable but old and outdated. The shower was really too small and there wasn't even a hanger to hang your towels on. Breakfast wasn't very good and they even ran out of baguette on the 2nd morning??? We're in France. Parking for the hotel was in the station car park nearby. There was a reduction through the hotel which you paid at the parking garage reception, unfortunately when we got there the reception was empty so I had to pay the full amount. All in all I will not be going back to this hotel
