The Famous Star Hotel Moffat

A pleasant Hotel centrally located in the town . The rooms have all necessary amenities and clean. The beds could do with plumper pillows though. Breakfast is payable separately and was filling and freshly cooked to order. The bar prices were very reasonable

Fantastic friendly welcome comfy clean room. If you want 5star and bling then move on but if you want a great experience and value for money this is the place for you Had a fantastic first couple of hours and food got to bed and felt at home Bliss can’t wait to get the opportunity to stay again

Narrowest Hotel in the UK at 30ft wide. This was our 4th visit in the past 15 years. You cannot beat the atmosphere at this independent hotel which has a long term, local owner who is day to day hands on. There is a great team of staff supporting her, all long service and they gave us a great welcome. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean with everything a guests needs, They gave us the huge family room on the first floor once they realised I had problems climbing stairs to the second floor after a recent operation. We had dinner 3 times at the hotel and the food was excellent as was breakfast each day. Food prices have increased dramatically in UK so we expected to pay more but it was well worth it, especially the home made pies. The Hotel had a great tradional Xmas menu which we had one evening. The locals in the public bar at the rear of the Hotel made us welcome which they always do to strangers. The small bar at the front is our favourite as its cosy and snug and you can look at all the whiskies on display. We will be back to Moffat and The Star again.... and just hope it doesnt change hands!

I ordered medallions of beef & thought I would be getting melt in the mouth beef. Not so the beef was very chewy & the broccoli was so tough even with a knife I had no chance of cutting it! I could not eat the veg. I went with friends & a few xxx of us were very disappointed & we will not be returning

My partner and I booked the Star for one night on our way home from Yorkshire to Scotland. After letting staff know about a small problem with a toilet extractor fan, we were immediately moved to another room by the lovely owner Alison. We booked dinner in the upstairs restaurant. It was great and very affordable. The bar/waiting staff were attentive, without being intrusive. The full Scottish breakfast is amazing. We had a friendly relaxed chat with Alison again at breakfast. Well done on your 40 years in business next year.

We stayed at The famous star during the Moffat walking weekend. We were very happy with our room, the food was great and the staff went out of their way to make us welcome. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I am in Moffat or go there for a lovely home cooked bar meal.
