Contactless check-in. We were allocated an interconnecting room with a locked door between us, despite other rooms being vacant. Our neighbour, a stranger, a male, could be heard loudly coughing & gagging right from the start. After half an hour of this I called the mobile number for Christina on behalf of the motel, to complain about the noise & requesting a move to another room. There was only a voicemail message service available. We then left the motel & went out for dinner. We took our time over dinner, reluctant to return to the motel. There was no return call from Christina. On our return to the motel there was less coughing, but we needed to turn on the TV at a higher volume to drown out the noise, which we left on all night. At 6am the much louder coughing resumed, so we got up, packed up & left by 7am. There was only 1 pillow per person provided as well. We will never return nor recommend this motel.

We stayed 1 night at Travellers rest motel in a standard room booked directly with the motel. We received a txt to confirm our accommodation and on the day a txt advising of the code to collect our key in a locked box. The room was small with very basic amenities. There isn’t a folder with motel info, nor any local eateries or tourist information. The bar fridge was turned off, this seems to be due to signs in the room saying to turn off all appliances when leaving, so bringing your own fresh milk, food and drinks were not going into a cold fridge. This accommodation feels very much directed at contractors and certainly not at tourists. The bed was very comfortable but we were glad for previous reviews advising to bring your own pillows as the two supplied pillows are paper thin. This motel it is over priced for what is and has a few issues that need to be addressed. But does offer a clean bed, a shower, toilet and basic kitchen utensils.

I booked a 2 bedroom fully self contained family unit through a 3rd party site and it was locked in. A few days later I had a call saying that my room choice wasn’t available and would I be happy with 2 adjoining rooms? Sure… no problem. When we arrived I realised neither of the rooms were self contained. So all the food we’d brought with us could not be cooked, or kept frozen in the tiny freezers. We had to order takeaway which cost $80, and throw out $60 of food we’d bought for dinner. The rooms themselves are quite nice and cosy. They have the basic kettle, toaster and bar fridge. Showers are lovely and hot and the beds are ok. Pillows are worn and super thin so take your own. Carpets are dark and we felt bad because every bit of dirt showed up. We would’ve vacuumed if we had one. Overall…. If you need a base to explore the surrounding areas this place is perfect. You’ll struggle to get anything but pizzas delivered, and Ubers aren’t very common. Go with everything you need.

When we arrived we had to collect our key from a key safe and went to our room, only to find someone else's belongings in it. I phoned the manager as the office was unmanned (4.30pm) who said she'd made a mistake and told us to wait 5 minutes and go back to the office to get another key. We were surprised to find ourselves in a family unit, which was freezing. As a large open plan space with bathroom, utility room and a second bedroom off it, we weren't that surprised it was so cold. However, given that the overnight low had been 4C the night before, I would have expected some heating to have been put on before our arrival. The pathetic reverse cycle air con unit hardly heated the space at all, despite turning it up to 25C then 30C to see if that would help. It was still freezing so left it on (against instructions) to go out and have dinner. When we came back it was no warmer, so we went to bed in order to get warm. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows hard and we didn't sleep well. In the light of day, I discovered the toilet seat was dirty, the floors all filthy, the venetian blinds were caked with dust and stained. There were empty packets of tea and sugar in the basket they were stored in and the kettle still had water in it from the previous occupants. There was soap, no shampoo in the bathroom. I was so cold I almost went without a shower that morning and left as soon as we could to find warmth and breakfast elsewhere. The whole place was dated and unloved. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place, which is a shame as the setting is lovely but it needs a complete overhaul.

Beds were old and uncomfortable, the single bed mattress was very out of shape. Both of us had sore backs after our stay. There was confusion when booking the room. I was advised that the room I wanted had been over booked and promised another , larger room at a more expensive, but reduced rate. Upon arrival we were in the original room we booked. The managed did apologise for mis up. There was quite a lot of sand on the lounge . There were two complementary milks in the fridge, one had been opened and used. We did not use the stove, yet there was food on the stove top. The unit furniture is quite aged, generally clean. Vehicle noise on Highway took a bit of getting used to.

Stayed here two nights. The good points were.. -the size of our unit was really spacious with a lovely porch -the setting is just lovely in the bush and we liked the fact the units were not crowded together -the unit was well equipped and there was even a washing machine -comfy bed. However, for us what let down the Traveller’s Rest was.. -dirty kitchenware from lipstick on a glass to food stuck on tongs, a crusty kitchen cupboard shelf with ants (though I realise we are in the bush and there are ants, it was old food they were attracted to) -the noise from the highway went on through the night with big trucks passing by. If you are a light sleeper, this would not be the place -no recycling bins anywhere and we did ask. Have to say we would stay somewhere else next time.

Nice little motel with good connections and a fair price. The self check-in worked really well and the bungalow with terrace and full kitchen was comfortably furnished. Perfect for 1/2 nights with a parking space right outside the door.
