"Perfect location, it is located just opposite Nagano station, bus and train are easy to get. Lots of eateries around hotel. Friendly staff that greet you everytime you walk pass their table. Great breakfast to charge your day. Good amenities. The bedroom size is also good. Downside is the hotel doesn't have a public bath."
"Location is THE best if you are planning to make Nagano your base and take the train to explore the other regions of the prefecture. It is literally connected to the train station on the 2nd floor. Plus there are great restaurants in Midori Shopping Centre which is part of Nagano train station."
"Dormy Inn Nagano Zenko-no-Yu Natural Hot Spring Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from JR Nagano Station. For those using Google Maps, it might suggest a detour via a bus stop, but there's no need to go around – simply cross the road from the station exit and you'll spot it. This hotel is ideal for anyone looking to stay close to Nagano Station.
Downstairs, you'll find plenty of dining options, including izakayas. The hotel features a natural hot spring (onsen) and a sauna. Upstairs, there are two massage chairs and a full wall of manga books. Guests can enjoy complimentary chocolate-dipped ice cream bars and popsicles, with lactic acid drinks available in the morning. Don't miss the free late-night ramen served from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Overall, it offers excellent value for money.
The rooms and beds are on the smaller side, but we still had enough space to open two large suitcases. Self-check-in by scanning passports was super convenient. The mini-fridge came stocked with local jelly snacks and two complimentary bottles of water.
However, I wouldn't recommend it for guests with extremely high hygiene standards, as there were some minor stains on the toilet and chairs, though it didn't significantly impact our stay. Despite this, the overall service and design were quite impressive and a pleasant surprise."
"The room was very clean and quite spacious, especially for a Japanese hotel. Even during our two-night stay, when we opted out of daily housekeeping, they still kindly provided fresh towels and linens. I managed to leave my room key in the room twice, but the staff at the front desk were always very helpful and promptly issued a replacement."
"I enjoyed stay in here. The room is spacious, amenities all complete, provided at the front desk and take what's you need. Location, in front of the Nagano station, after east exit, and 7/11 just next to it.
1 thing make me not give the perfect score, the room have some unpleasant odour that I couldn't remove. I turn on the humidifier, spray air refreshner but still it won't disappear. Except for that, everything is good"
"Great location—loved having a Lawson right downstairs!
I didn’t realize Big Echo was on the 4th floor; otherwise, I would’ve planned to go for karaoke. But I already had a movie scheduled, so there wasn’t enough time.
The view was exactly what I was hoping for. I really enjoy staying in places with windows that offer such a nice view.
The only downside was the washing machine. It was quite slow and required coins. I even had to buy drinks from the vending machine just to get enough 100-yen coins for laundry.
I guess this kind of old-style machine is still common in Japanese hotels. Unlike the newer machines in China and Thailand that only take about 30 minutes to wash and another 20–30 minutes to dry (with separate machines), this one took significantly longer.
Overall, it was a good stay. I slept really well—even overslept a bit! Probably because I had spent the whole day snowboarding and was completely exhausted."
"We chose this hotel by location first of all, because we arrived around midnight at Nagano station. The hotel is very close to it. There was convenient check-in and check-out automatic system. The facilities of the room were great - private bathroom and a toilet, and also pajamas. The room is very small, but it is totally sufficient for a trip."
"Room was extremely worth it's pricing with the cleanliness and you could feel the exquisiteness of the hotel from entering through the main doors all the way to your room.
Walking distance to multiple interesting areas such as Zenkoji Temple and very pretty eateries around the area.
1 extremely disturbing thing was whereby 1 of the huge mirrors by the make up table was right infront of our beds which made my family and I have a paranoid night stay. Other wise everything was top tier!"
"Rather old property. Some stains on the sofa, though they do not look like it can be cleaned. Other that that room is generally clean. However, hotel claimed that they do not have aircon during winter season, and said the only way to cool the room was to off the heater (which is the only mode the aircon duct can release), or open the window, though it is prone to bugs entering the room. Not recommended. Can stay at better properties near nagano station at similar price points."

Great
KKim Lian DorcasWe were drawn to this hotel because my friends and I absolutely love Chateraise cakes! Conveniently located about an 8-minute walk from Nagano Station, the hotel was easy to find. Check-in was smooth, and the rooms were comfortable and welcoming. The best part was the daily treat of Chateraise cakes offered as welcome treats and during tea time—a delightful indulgence. The hotel served as an excellent base for exploring Nagano, with popular sights like Zenko-ji Temple within walking distance. Overall, it was a wonderfully convenient stay.
XXiaosageThe hotel is old, but the cleanliness is guaranteed. The breakfast room is small and is located in the lobby. Overall, it is OK. Maybe there are more people coming to Nagano in winter, so the reception capacity is limited. I personally think the price is a bit high.
IIsusanThe location is very good, opposite Matsumoto Station! Behind Tokyu Rei Hotel, opposite Tokyu Department Store! In short, the location is great!
1/ The room is a standard Japanese room layout, small but complete.
2/ Service The front desk staff communicated very clearly and had a good attitude.
3/ The hotel provides all the equipment, including the full range of refa supplies. Just take a card and ask the front desk to get it.
4/ I didn't get up to eat breakfast, but there was a donut as a welcome gift after I arrived. Coffee and tea bags were provided in the lobby on demand.
5/ All toiletries, supplies, mouthwash, and even nose stickers were provided, so there is nothing they don't provide except what you can't think of, and there are also children's bathing tools!
6/ The room does not provide drinking water, but each person is given coins for two bottles of water per day, which can be exchanged from the vending machine.
7/ The room is very quiet
WWei LeThis place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.
GGuest UserGreat place to stay! Perfect location and convenient to have food and very near to the station. The bunk bed is also comfortable and perfect for solo travelers. Friendly for ladies too with ladies-only shower room in dormitory.
KKs TamThe location is great and it is well maintained. I stayed in the 4 beds female dorm, it was spacious. The bed was big with a little desk at one side of the bed for organising personal items. Each bed has their own charging pod. There are some limitations though: the lift can't be used so suitcases are moved up via staircase. I have to go down to the 2nd floor for the bathroom and toilet. I am not sure how many people are sharing them but I never need to wait an they are clean.
AAnton VoroshilinThis is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities.
However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead.
I'd like to highlight the breakfast: it was gorgeous, given the price. I'd even say it tasted better than a ¥3000 dinner I had at some local restaurant.
The whole experience felt like visiting your grandparents, who live in a village, during the summer.
GGuest UserWe arrived from Tokyo on a late shinkansen, and needed to stop overnight before catching the bus to Hakuba in the morning. Hotel Abest had the best rates and their checkin counter was open until late.
We had a room on the ninth floor. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean, and there was even an automatic massage chair.
We added breakfast, and the photos I have added show the nutritious hot breakfast and the view from the small restaurant on the tenth floor.
Would absolutely recommend staying here!
AAnonymous UserThe room was very nice - sufficiently large and with all necessary amenities (even a small fridge). The room was clean and in good condition. The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. They also have coin operated washing machines and dryers, in case you need them. Overall, a great option for most travelers, especially in terms of value for money.
