"This hotel is a must stay in Nagano. For us the best hotel that we stayed in our Japan trip. The room is very spacious comparatively to Japanese hotel rooms and it’s located just 5-8 minutes from the Nagano station. Breakfast is superb with a nice mountain views. They have a great amenities set. Will definitely stat again if we are coming back to NagNo."

"The hotel is really well situated, less than 10 minutes from the JR station, and on the same street as the Shrine, so there were lots of places to eat nearby. I stayed in a dorm, which had more people than I expected for a room (I think I saw at least 60 bed/lockers) so it was quite loud even at night as people kept walking in and out. The actual bed was fine, and the people at the front took their time to walk me through what to know for the hostel. The lounge is a little awkwardly partitioned, but at least you get a space to use if you need food.
The dorm itself, I think has a little too many people to be comfortable but is clean enough. The lights never turn off, but because you have a curtain, it blocks out most of it. The largest issue is the noise, since people are coming in and out at random times of the night, and the buttons to open the door are also quite loud when you're trying to sleep. If you want ear plugs, they have them for a fee at the front. Nagano overall was very nice though, and the location made it a lot easier to get around."

"A good hotel close to Nagano Station, though it's still about a 10-minute walk. They offer a buffet breakfast and even room cleaning (despite what was stated during booking about no cleaning for stays under 3 nights). Essential amenities are provided, including a hairdryer, kettle, mugs, toothbrushes, and so on.
Downside #1: It gets cold inside during winter, so you have to turn on the air conditioning for heating.
Downside #2: The outlets don't charge European laptops, even with an adapter.

Nearby also have many F&B.
Cleanliness is good.
Room is not very spacious, it makes me think of Shinjuku Washington Hotel size.
But service is very good, more friendly, and they help us to move the luggage up to our room straight after our bag hv transfer via luggage transfer service.
So when we reach hotel, we just need to check in and go up straight.
There's washing machine and dryer provided with fee, however is a small one.
The lobby is very nice and comfortable.
Will consider to stay here again if I visiting Nagano."

"Receptionist was very friendly, recommending places to eat and things to do. Room was clean. The washing machine is free to use. Bed was very soft and comfortable. Location is about 15-20 mins walk from nagano station. And about 10 mins walk to zenkoji temple, you can wake up early and walk to see the early morning prayer that occurs at sunrise.

"We had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Metropolitan Nagano. The location is excellent, as it is directly connected to Nagano Station, which made traveling around the area very convenient. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the bed was very comfortable.

"The hotel is a ten-minute walk from Nagano Station. The room is small but well-equipped and very clean. There are also FamilyMart, Lawson, and drugstores nearby. The hotel's own cleansing oil is excellent… I highly recommend Misoya ramen, a ramen shop right in front of Nagano Station. The flavor is fantastic! The thick bean sprouts and spicy miso are delicious and not too salty."

AAnacrvcostaI had a very positive experience at Hotel New Nagano Next. Even though we only stayed for one night, everything went smoothly. The hotel offers one of the most complete selections of amenities I’ve seen, which was a pleasant surprise.
The staff was genuinely kind and helpful, although their English skills were a bit limited. Despite this, communication wasn’t an issue, and they did their best to assist us.
I’d definitely consider booking this hotel again without hesitation. A solid choice for anyone visiting Nagano!

The hotel’s location is about 10mins drive from Nagano’s JR station. The resort is opened to public and hotel guests share the facility. There are a variety of Onsen pools both indoor and outdoor. A very different experience totally.
Staff are friendly though only one or two did their best for English speaking tourist like me.
We booked the Shinyi room.

The little onsen is perfect for getting a deep cleanse after travels. The staff is absolutely amazing and the highlight of this hotel

DDianaChuiYou can see the hotel from the highway before you even exit, and it's super quick to get to. The parking lot is huge and very convenient. There's a supermarket and a drug store nearby. The room was also very spacious with great views of the mountains. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Nagano.

MM&S SGPBed is rather small for 2. Room space hard to move about but we managed since it is for a night stay. Like the cleanliness and amenities provided. Location to the main Nagano station helps! Live up to its hotel's name as staff were very welcoming and they smiled 😀

MM594814****A Japanese-style hotel with extreme temperatures. Although the luggage has to be carried up and down the steep and bright wooden stairs, the old antiques in the house make life afraid of breaking up, all guests share the bathroom bathroom and hot spring ♨️. But it is so warm, the space is reasonably used upstairs and downstairs, and the 20 or so rooms are scattered. Comfortable hot spring baths, soft cloth tatami mats and the quiet environment in the store make people relax. The hotel operator is an elderly couple over 80 years old, busy upstairs and downstairs every day, ushered in, the 81-year-old gentleman not only has a hard body but also a super memory, every time the guest goes out, he picks out the guest's shoes and puts them in front of the guest, never making mistakes. Grandma is also radiant and kind, and she will not forget every word the guests have said to her, carefully and meticulously. The two elders stood outside the door in slippers and bowed and waved goodbye to us until the bus traveled. Maybe it is because of the fact that this century-old store has been passed down. I hope everyone can feel their precious warmth and cherish it when they stay.

Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

AAnton VoroshilinThis is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities.
However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead.
I'd like to highlight the breakfast: it was gorgeous, given the price. I'd even say it tasted better than a ¥3000 dinner I had at some local restaurant.
The whole experience felt like visiting your grandparents, who live in a village, during the summer.

The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. They also have coin operated washing machines and dryers, in case you need them. Overall, a great option for most travelers, especially in terms of value for money.

AAnonymous UserVery good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor.
Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries.
Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day.
Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.
