Hilton New York Times Square

Times Square
I thought the room was very large (compared to some tiny NYC rooms I’ve stayed) I appreciated the view from the room and the bar. I did not notice sound in my room despite being right in the center of action in Times Square. If you like being close to tons of people (I do) then this is a great spot. If you prefer a quiet spot, be aware of the proximity to all of the people. Based on the other reviews, I double checked my bill. The credit for food was not correct. They were helpful and fixed it after I asked. The patty melt was delicious! Overall I would stay again, but was just a little annoyed that I had to request that the bill be corrected. The room was clean and comfortable.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to Madison Square Garden - about a 5-6 block walk. We were attending a concert and wanted to be able to easily walk to/from MSG. But the location also proved to be very advantageous for our other activities and sightseeing. We were able to walk to Union Square Greenmarket, Eataly, Strand Bookstore, Empire State Building, as well as dining/dessert. For attractions further away, we could get to a subway stop with a short 5-7 min walk. Room was more spacious than I was expecting for a Manhattan hotel room. Not much hanging closet space, but there was a six drawer dresser plus two nightstands. Comfortable king size bed, large flat screen TV, desk/chair and small ottoman for seating. Bathroom was good size with a large vanity and walk-in glass shower. My one complaint with the room was that there was no refrigerator/microwave - instead there was a money grab mini-bar which was not helpful for a multiple night stay. Hotel has a nice rooftop bar. Drinks were pricey (not unexpected), however the seating areas were pleasant and the view was lovely.

The location is ok, but there’s no subway stations nearby, so you need to go to Central Terminal Station as the closes place to take it. Or walk, which is in general OK, unless it’s raining, 😁. The room is fantastic, but the general conditions of the hotel let you know that it’s an old one. Also, I was charged extra in the hotel, what I was not made aware of. They give you back part of it as a “credit” to spend in THEIR cafe, which is OK, but I rather spend the money somewhere else, specially because I booked the room without breakfast because I don’t eat too much in the morning and, therefore, it’s a waste of money to pay for it at hotels in a city like NY.

The location is nice, close to Times Square. The hotel is clean, as other Hilton hotels. Breakfasts are good too, with very pleasant service. But there are some things that left that bitter feeling after my stay that I would like to share. 1. Destination charge. This is the second Hilton hotel in New York I have stayed at, and both charged additional USD35 for so-called destination fee per night. As the receptionist said, it’s MANDATORY. This 35 dollars are charged per day and the guest must use it the same day, they don’t even accumulate. How do you spend it? In the hotel restaurant or bar. What can you buy with it? Three bottles of drinking water, or two cans of beer…. Why am I forced to spend my money on the things that I don’t need and that are so overpriced? You already charged me for the room, and I happily paid for it. 2. The hotel page here shows a picture of “swimming”. It’s a rooftop swimming pool. I was excited to have a chance to spend some time in the pool. The reception said there was none. Please remove the picture from the page, as it is misleading. 3. There is no tea or coffee in the room. That’s the amenity available in every hotel, even the cheap ones. But when we called the service, they said: no, we don’t offer coffee or tea. But they did bring us a kettle:) I can see that it’s not listed in the available amenities here, but I didn’t even expect that. It’s such a little thing that makes your guest’s stay more comfortable. Anyways, it was quite a pleasant stay despite these unpleasant details. Thank you.

I am normally not one to leave reviews but had to give the Hilton Brooklyn 5 stars. The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable, the location is amazing with tons of great restaurants and shops nearby, and the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Can't say enough great things!
