Meet the four-diamond level. The front desk is very enthusiastic. Remember my name. The sea is absolutely beautiful from 11 am to 2 pm! That is, the room is a bit small, the food is quite satisfactory, and the overall satisfaction is satisfactory!

This was our first trip to Zanzibar and we were very much looking forward to a lovely stay and the pristine beaches we have heard so much about. First impression was poor welcome at the reception and smelly worn down rooms. The rooms took me back to my backpacking days 30 years ago. The atmosphere is that of a low budget charter trip. Not much we could do about the hotel which was prepaid, so we decided to make the best of our stay despite the place. But it just got worse. Worse service we’ve ever had, anywhere. - (argument about breakfast included in the booking which they wouldn’t give us - tried to kick us out a day early, before realizing it was their mistake, but never even said sorry - most miserable staff I’ve ever seen anywhere (understandably, having to work under that management). - toilet not working so we had to change room - 10USD deposit for beach towels - not possible to use the beach. Well, it’s possible but not at all inviting, with lots of traffic (local young boys) wandering up and down the beach making it a through road, lots of boats and sea urchins. At high tide the whole beach is under water (hence the beach is always wet during low tide) Luckily the on site PADI dive center (completely independent of the hotel) was fantastic. Every morning they took us out by boat to snorkel and dive. They saved our holiday and we had a great time. But we’ll never return to Zanzibar. If you’re looking for a pristine beach holiday, there are so many better places around the world.

From the moment we arrived, this hotel felt like a peaceful sanctuary whilst being a stones throw from the beach, where these is a bar that had nightly events. The staff were nothing short of exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay unforgettable. The breakfast was lovely and fresh and our room was pristine. We can't wait to return!

We had a nice 4 night stay at this hotel. The staff were very welcoming and attentive the whole time we were there. The rooms were clean with updated bathrooms everything was in working order. The grounds are kept meticulously for the guests. The beach is nice but due to tides only swimmable part of the time but pool is nice too. There are plenty of loungers. Breakfast buffet was decent. We had half-board which offered several choices for a 3 course meal every night. Food was good quality. The hotel has a spa which offers great deals on massage, talk to Mo! If I could improve anything I would find a way to keep the pool water a little cooler.

The hotel is in a breezy location with quite nice rooms, simply furnished but our room needed some TLC. The cleaning was good, and the staff were friendly but the food was really rubbish. The food let this place down. Very African, many things not available, and the buffet was disappointing. At breakfast you could see what was fresh, usually one item each day whether mandado or croissant or a bread roll. Coffee was instant. The chef on the BBQ was burning and frying out the meat and seafood which upset me greatly. No wine choices, often only one or two types of beer. No ice one day. I started to going elsewhere to eat at the hotels nearby. There is no beach access at high tide, and be warned this is not a place for access for anyone with a disability as hard coral and urchins underfoot.

We stayed at the Zanzibari Hotel in August 2024 and we made the best decision. What we really loved, is the location. The hotel is tucked away from all the noise providing tranquility and peace while it's still a walking distance to town and restaurants. At high tide, we enjoyed looking and listening to the crashing waves and at low tide, we enjoyed taking a stroll on the beach. Nestled along the stunning shores of Nungwi, this hotel combines the perfect blend of luxury, cultural authenticity, and warm hospitality. Accommodation: The rooms at The Zanzibari are tastefully designed, reflecting the local architecture and vibrant colors of Zanzibar. Our room was spacious, meticulously clean, and equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay for us. The private balcony provided breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, and we loved waking up to a stunning sunrise. Amenities: The hotel boasts an impressive range of amenities. We loved the infinity pool overlooking the ocean, which provided a serene space to unwind while soaking up the tropical sun. We also liked to have lunch at the tables by the pool or sit at the bar in the evening. Dining: The restaurant space looks luxury and we loved the bar made out of a huge old boat. The menu was great and chefs are dedicated to using fresh, local ingredients, and the menu offered delicious choices for everyone. Service: The Zanzibari staff was very attentive and friendly. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family and we were helped with any questions or requests we had. Conclusion: For those looking for a blend of relaxation, culture, and exceptional service, The Zanzibari Hotel is a perfect choice. It left us with lasting memories, and we can’t wait to return!

After much research, we settled on My Blue. It was the best decision! The compound was very well maintained, excellent service, spectacular views over the beach (especially from the infinity pool), easy access to the ocean, good food, nightly entertainment, good rooms and bed. The whole place is picture perfect and we loved eating with great views of the ocean! The main area they could improve on is their meals. There’s plenty of food options but not very much really good food. More like a mediocre buffet. There was, however, always varying stations with a chef that were nice additions like the pasta station, pad Thai, fried rice, open grill. Overall, this place is a gem for the price! We’ve already recommended it to friends and wouldn’t hesitate going back sometime with our kids!

Sarah what a host! Such a lovely lady, it’s very reassuring as a solo female traveller to go somewhere so welcoming with lovely, friendly and kind staff! A small but cosy hostel. Very close to the beach also! I wasn’t the most comfortable going out alone but in the day there were a lot of people around and at night there’s always motorcycles that sarah can arrange or taxis! The place was so clean, constantly being swept, beds being made, bathrooms being cleaned. Breakfast that was included was amazing! For the value of the stay breakfast included: omelette, toast, fruits, juice and tanzania donuts. Coffee and yea available too! The bed was very comfortable. The towels were decent size. The pillows were fluffy! Overall a fantastic stay, please ignore any and reviews :) I stayed here for 5 days alone and my friends stayed nearby
