Baymont by Wyndham Orangeburg North

My review is based on the facility and conditions of such. I arrived after hours driving, without a reservation, the young man at the desk offered a room on second floor. When I walked up exterior steps to second floor I witnessed guests openly smoking within their room, cooking on flat top griddle within their room. As I opened my room door I was met with stale cigarette smell, the door rubbing terribly on bunched up carpet. The carpet was stained, furniture disgusting dirty, poor lighting, oversized jacuzzi tub with soap scum and faucets loose when operating. If it wasn't so late and the fact other options to stay at had no vacancies, I should of slept in car. Don't waste your money.

Stay away from this dump! Felt unsafe. Wall had outlets hanging out. Bathtub dirty. Breakfast was a joke! Cereal only. Had to ask for plastic cutlery and milk. Felt like I was bothering person at counter by asking for these things. Should have saved my $ and just slept in my car!

Disgusting bathroom in our first room. Switched rooms, terrible A/C, noisy and uncomfortable bed and pillows in our second room Refrigerator was cold, toilet flushed well. Those are the only pluses. Friendly staff. Very bad rooms. Marcel at the desk was very nice.

Check in: The female at check in was not welcoming or friendly, she basically just asked for ID, and took her time assigning our room, to which I feel was likely the worst room I could get compared to the pictures online. Upon entering the room we noticed that it was very musty, but checked the bed and bedding and it was clean and comfortable. The smell of the heat/ac was gross so we turned it off completely. The floor lamp was so dusty I was able to write the word FILTHY on the base of it. The bathroom was not up to standards, there was a clump of hair on the floor, and other noticable dirt on the floor. The carpet also was dirty like this room had not been vaccuumed in a long time, also had a very big rip in the carpet. Very dissappointed in the room considering it is a Wyndham hotel. It is dated and tired, needs a total reno. I cleaned the sink and counter before placing my stuff on it, and it was obviously dirty. Didn't shower, and will not recommend this hotel.

This motel allows guests to smoke and do illegal substances in the rooms. Loud music and people congregate in parking lot. When you ask them to assist they are rude and refuse to move your room or refund your money. These people are SKETCHY. Save yourself the trouble of being surrounded by criminals and stay anywhere else. They advertise having a pool and business center but neither are operational. Stained bedding full of holes. They advertise breakfast but the only option was a broken waffle iron or stale cereal. This place is seriously a joke.

If I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor prior to my stay then I probably wouldn’t have given this hotel a chance. I am currently in house and have had a great stay so far. My room is VERY clean and comfortable. No mold, no broken appliances, A/C works great, walls and carpet are clean, and plumbing works as it should. Housekeeping is very kind and keep the rooms very clean. I have only seen palmetto bugs (outside not inside) which if you are familiar with SC then you know these are inevitable and are not indicative of cleanliness. I have not seen any roaches anywhere on the property or evidence of them in our room. I really appreciate the wooden shutters instead of curtains on the window. The wooden shutters keep light out better and provide better privacy than traditional curtains that you normally have at exterior corridor hotels. The pool was out of order for our stay which bummed the kids a little and breakfast has a very limited selection but my family and I really were not counting on these amenities. We just needed a clean, comfortable, safe place to sleep and we have found that here. Maybe this hotel was recently renovated or has changed management or ownership and they are turning it around and may explain the previous bad reviews. We will definitely continue our stay while we are here.
