PakBeng

At the cheap end of the market, rooms at Pakbeng are clean but tiny, being just a bed in a box, with a fan and mosquito net. Shared bathrooms are outside and have a hot shower, but rely on the electricity to be working. There is no balcony, no river view, and the only shared space for sitting around is the restaurant, which is not particularly atmospheric. They are one of the few places in town however, that serves Western delights such as spaghetti, hamburgers and pizza as well as Lao food.
