Need to take a bus ride to old town via bus or cab.
Journey is abt 15-20mins.
Breakfast at the hotel was decent.
Bed was comfy but not the sofa bed, which can feel the metal frame when my kid sleep on it.
Relatively value for $ if don’t mind the bus journey. No amenities around the hotel.

"The hotel is located just a few minutes by bus from the bar area.
The exterior looks old, but the interior is very nice and clean.
The bed was fluffy and I slept well.
There's a supermarket nearby, so you can easily stock up if you need something.
The breakfast selection isn't that extensive, but it was more than adequate. And it was very delicious.
I'd love to stay here again the next time I visit San Sebastian."

"The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, and the hotel is located in the heart of the city centre. We could ask breakfast for the room without problem. The beds and coats were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, as we arrived at night and attended us to check in, just have to call and warn them. "The hotel is a villa with an old money style. The staff is warm and polite, highly professional, the facilities are very new, and the toiletries are diptyque. There is a bathtub and a shower room. The front desk service is enthusiastic, helping to make restaurant reservations and providing various information. It's a little regrettable that there is no big mirror in the room, so I can't take a look at my whole body. I don’t know how celebrities would react if they tried on clothes without a full-length mirror when they came to stay.

BbaraoGuild**”BAD: Beware of the 'Upgrade'”**
Our priority when booking was the room size and budget, so we reserved a 32m² City View room.
At check-in, the hotel staff offered us an ”upgrade.” He said that for an additional €25 per day, we could ”upgrade,” so we agreed.
However, while the room did have a Sea View, the size was downgraded to just 21m². I told them that paying €25 to have a smaller room was a downgrade, but they insisted that the view had been upgraded.
I asked to be moved back to the room we originally booked, but the staff ignored my request for an entire day.
Let me ask you this: if you went to see a new landscape, and the view changed, how would you describe it? You wouldn’t say the landscape itself was ”upgraded,” would you? You’d say the view was different or better.
The following day, I finally got a response from the staff. They told me I’d need to pay an additional €70 per day if I wanted a 32m² Sea View room.
While the hotel facilities and scenery are excellent, the staff are focused entirely on business and seem to aim to squeeze every extra euro from their guests.
In the end, we ended up paying the €25.

GGuest UserI stayed in a ”city view” room during my solo trip through the Basque region and it was such a comfortable room I forgot about not having sea view.
Though I do recommend to go to the cafe to have the beachside experience if you get the city view room because it overlooks a construction site on the back street.
The hotel was an easy 15min walk with my heavy suitcase from the intercity bus center, just beside the beach. The room was squeaky clean with a large bathtub, and the bed so comfortable I could not get up to go see the sunset! Also helpful kind staff and great location for getting around the city on foot or by bus. I went to the Chillida Leku museum it was 30min by bus no25.

GGuest UserI contacted Luis via his website to let him know we'd be late checking in and right away, he responded. Within minutes, we were messaging each other on WhatsApp.
Luis sent me loads of useful information and helped us get settled.
The Pension Joakina is lovely and the whole place is immaculate. I could hear the staff cleaning every morning.
The location was brilliant and we were able to walk to all of the places we planned to see.
We will definitely go back.

MM. SoA boutique hotel close to the Dona Katalina Zubia. There are two entrances to the hotel, the main one facing the road and the other entrance facing the Urumea River. Staff were friendly and always had a smile. The hotel is quite clean and everything is within 15mins walk. The amenities are limited, but there is a 24 hour reception and bar downstairs, a nice roof top sunbathing area and a gym. Please double check the other amenities listing when booking, as I don't recall seeing the Public Bath, Foot Bath and Clothes Dryer as advertise. I would also suggest to check the batteries of the remotes before someone check ins, as I had to request it to be changed and it wasn't available until the next day, more compliment bottles of water and dental kits (given there was 3 of us and only 2 bottles and 1 kit). Overall though, I enjoyed the stay and would come back again.

SShiow ChinLocation is a bit out of the city centre, but located in a peaceful area (contrastingly) next to a forest and a biotech hub. However, a bus stop a couple of minutes' walk from the hotel has a service that goes directly to the Boulevard located between the Old Town and the City Centre (85sen per trip or cheaper with the San Sebastian Card - available at the hotel) within 25 mins (or slightly longer with traffic).
My room was comfortable and clean, although it might be a bit tight for space with 2 people. Bed was comfortable with pillows of various firmness.
Bathroom was big and well-designed, although the shower and bath might be a bit tight for larger people. Shower pressure was excellent.
Tip: Open the drawer under the sink to dispose your garbage and recyclables.
Staff were all friendly, polite and helpful.
My only complaint is that my water was never refilled throughout my stay, but I admit I did not ask about it at the time.

GGuest UserThe pension is easy to find, and staff are very helpful. Beds are comfortable; coffee and tea are available; everything is clean.
The only difficulty might be is there is only one bathroom for all the guests. We were here in low season, so didn't have much difficulty, but I can imagine problems in the high season.
The pension is in the old part of San Sebastian, so visiting the most picturesque parts is easy, as is visiting nearby villages.
Local food is excellent.
I highly recommend this pension; excellent value for your money. It's the best base for exploring this part of the Basque Country.
