"Such a beautiful place! Service is top notch from the entrance to check in! Absolutely love this cosy place! Rooms were large and has the best view of the lake! The open air rooftop onsen was so pretty, it felt like we were with the seagulls flying past! The dinner and breakfast were top notch! We would love to come back again! The views were truly breath taking! No regrets about booking here! They have bicycles if you want to ride around the lake, rent them at Select 108. Oh and your doggo is welcomed here too!"

"The hotel is clean and tidy, with a good location not far from the bus station, right by the lake, offering a nice view of Mount Yotei. However, the bed in the room was too soft and lacked support, making it uncomfortable to sleep. There were no power outlets near the bed. I arrived at the front desk at 2:55 PM for a 3:00 PM check-in. They initially told me I could store my luggage and wait, but I said it was only 5 minutes and I'd wait there, and they proceeded with the check-in. It felt a bit rigid. The hot spring is decent, with both indoor and outdoor options, but there's basically no view because it's on the first floor and covered with film, so you can't see Mount Yotei. Dinner and breakfast were quite good and worth purchasing, as there aren't many places open in January, making dining out inconvenient."

"This hotel is right next to Lake Toya. We booked an East-facing Japanese-style room and were very happy with it. The window offered a direct view of Mount Yotei, and the scenery was absolutely stunning on clear days. The tatami mats were super comfortable for sleeping, and staff came by daily to make up the futons. While the hotel's onsen (hot spring) doesn't have many pools, the rooftop bath boasts incredible views, and the ground-floor outdoor bath offers a beautiful snowy landscape. The men's and women's baths rotate daily at specific times. We also appreciated that someone came with a testing device every day to check the water quality, which was very reassuring. During our stay, we happened to catch the winter fireworks festival. Watching the fireworks from the lakeside was just as amazing as watching them from our room! They went off promptly at 8:30 PM for 10 minutes every night for three consecutive days – it was incredibly romantic. The hotel breakfast was very generous. The onigiri (rice balls), chazuke (rice with tea), milk, and salmon were daily must-haves. The restaurant also had a spectacular view. Getting around from the hotel was very convenient. Turn right out the door and a 2-minute walk takes you to the bus stop. You can book tickets online, and the bus connects to various attractions. We used this bus to go to the ranch, the observation deck to see Mount Yotei, Snow World for snowmobiling, and Rusutsu for skiing. Just be prepared for potential bus delays."

"This hotel is a hidden gem where I stayed for three nights. It has four floors, with the entrance and front desk located on the second floor, accessible by an elevator. On the first floor, there are separate male and female onsens (hot springs), each with three indoor baths and one open-air bath. The changing rooms are equipped with washing machines and dryers (laundry costs a very affordable 100 yen per wash, and you can buy a laundry pod at the front desk for 100 yen). The hotel offers a set breakfast (included with the stay) and dinner (can be added on arrival for 3300 yen per person), both served individually rather than buffet-style. Breakfast times are 7:00, 7:30, or 8:00 AM, while dinner is at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, or 7:30 PM. There's a friendly Chinese-speaking staff member from Beijing at the front desk. The guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, offering views of Lake Toya and a popular photo spot. Each room includes a safe, kettle, cold drinking water, sterilized cups, a writing desk, a table lamp, a massage device, and lotion, among other amenities. The hotel also features a coffee bar and a souvenir shop near the front desk. Each room has a toilet and a sink, but no shower. The only downsides are that the entrance door to the room and the bathroom door are quite low, probably around 1.8 meters, and there's no drying room for ski gear (though with permission, you can place your ski equipment on the floor in the front desk area). The air conditioning has three powerful settings, so it never felt cold. The windows are double-paned."

"Just opened and absolutely sublime. If you need a reset, this new onsen hotel is the perfect retreat. Also with good view of 洞爺湖. The hot spring baths are pristine and calming—the Rooms are a beautiful blend of modern comfort and traditional style, and the multi-course kaiseki dinner is unforgettable. What stands out is the serene atmosphere and the attentive, proud staff. It feels both luxurious and deeply peaceful. Go. Soak. Unwind. You’ll leave refreshed and already wanting to return."

"My overall experience at Toyako畔亭 (Toyako Hanatei) was quite good. The hotel is right by Lake Toya, and the views are truly stunning. When I arrived yesterday, the weather was clear, and I could see Mount Yotei clearly in the distance – it was a magnificent sight. This morning, it snowed, and the lake with the falling snowflakes created a very picturesque scene. It was a completely different vibe, and both views were incredibly impressive. The onsen area was clean and comfortable, and soaking in the lake-view hot spring was especially relaxing. Dinner was excellent; the steak was delicious, tender, and juicy – definitely the highlight of the meal. Breakfast had a minor drawback: the serving time from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM felt a bit short. It can get rushed when there are a lot of people. Also, there was no seafood donburi, which would have made the selection richer. However, the overall taste was still good. Overall, it offered good value for money, and the minor issues didn't detract from the overall experience. If I visit Lake Toya again, I would definitely consider staying here."

"If you ask me where I'd stay next time I visit Lake Toya, I'd definitely say Hotel Cocoa. This is the biggest and most beautiful hotel I stayed at in Hokkaido. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer an incredible view, and I highly recommend it for anyone driving. "First, my apologies to the hotel! Their service was excellent. I didn't see anyone in the bathing area when I entered, so I took some photos. I wanted to share these with anyone considering staying here, so they could see the environment in detail. The hotel is directly opposite Mount Yotei, offering fantastic views. The room came equipped with bath towels, hand towels, bathrobes, and a razor. Before entering the hot spring pool, you'll need to bring your toiletries and room key. You can place your belongings in a basket before entering the hot spring. A hot spring tax of 300 JPY is collected before check-in. The washing machines are free to use, but laundry detergent is not provided. You'll need to buy it outside or bring your own. The room shows some signs of age, which makes it perfect for nostalgic enthusiasts! It has both air conditioning and a radiator. The view from the window is absolutely beautiful, making it a great spot to sit by the bed and relax. Overall, it's pretty good."

"The hotel is a 25-minute drive from Toya JR Station. We booked online a day in advance, and the hotel arranged a pick-up service from the station, which was quite convenient. The rooms are larger than typical Japanese hotel rooms, and each room has its own outdoor wooden bathtub for hot spring baths. My only slight disappointment was that the water in the tub wasn't actually hot spring water. Every room faces the lake, and the view is absolutely stunning. There are practically no restaurants or supermarkets around the hotel, so we opted for the hotel's meal plan. Since we stayed for two nights, the hotel arranged a Japanese-style breakfast on one day and a Western-style breakfast on the other. The meals were incredibly generous, with lots of dishes and even fruit after. Even my husband, who's a big eater, said he was too full!"

"The views are absolutely amazing, no doubt about that. However, getting to the hotel is a hassle. You can only book their shuttle or take a taxi. There isn't much good food at the hotel either; you have to go all the way down the mountain to eat. Compared to being down the mountain, the view here just adds the sea view. Unless you specifically want to ski up here, I don't think it's worth it, as the ski resort isn't particularly outstanding, though it might be good for kids. Overall, it's not worth the trouble (not that the price isn't worth it, but it's not worth all the inconvenience)."
