The onsen was a real highlight, beautifully maintained and deeply relaxing, and the view from my room was absolutely spectacular. Although it was whale season while I was there, I did not manage to see any whales this time, but that simply gives me another reason to come back. If there is one small area for improvement, it would be the dining experience. While the food was perfectly fine, it felt rather ordinary compared with the overall quality and standard of the hotel. A more varied and distinctive selection, particularly at the buffet, would better match the hotel’s otherwise excellent experience. Overall, a truly lovely stay, and one I would happily recommend."

"I went to Yakushima Land in the pouring rain, so I wanted to take a bath early, so I went to a nearby day spa that opens at 3pm. It was before check-in time, but they let me put the sashimi and beer I bought for dinner in the pension's refrigerator in advance, which was very helpful. Moreover, when I told the owner that I was going to Manten's hot spring, he said, ”You can take the bath towel and towel from your room. If you tell them you're from Ichigo Ichikai, you'll get a discount.” I was able to take a bath at a great price, which I'm grateful for. I had a fun conversation with the owner's wife in the kitchen, so I didn't feel lonely even though I was drinking alone. I didn't bring my pajamas, but I told them and they were able to borrow some. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was very comfortable. Regarding breakfast, I have a wheat allergy and can't eat bread, so when I inquired in advance, I was told that they serve Japanese food, so I was excited to have it. "We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers! We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down. Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find. Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!"

"The oldest, slender gentleman with graying hair at the front desk first asked me about my travel plans for the next few days. Then, using a translation app, he communicated with me sentence by sentence to help me plan my itinerary. This was incredibly detailed, down to whether I wanted a bento box for breakfast or lunch, what time to catch the train each day, where and when to transfer, what time the last return train was, and by what time I absolutely had to leave. He even made sure to tell me which direction to take the train so I wouldn't get it wrong. The katakana he used, when put through the translation app, roughly translates to ”Kiyooka” or ”Seioka” (Mr. Kiyooka/Seioka). My sincere thanks to this gentleman!"

If it is not peak season, the boss is happy to pick up guests at the dock. The hotel is a two-minute walk from Niu Chuang Park Station and it is very convenient to go to Baigu Yunshui Gorge.
