"The hotel is located not too far from the center, about 1 km from the night market. The location is quite convenient and there is parking available. From the outside, the hotel looks new and clean.
However, there were several issues during the stay. There was no trash bin in the bedroom (only one in the bathroom), and only one roll of tissue was provided. An extra roll was hung on the door the next day, but staff did not ask whether we wanted the room cleaned.
The bed had hair and small stains on the bedsheets, and there were even ants on the bed. My friend and I felt itchy every morning after waking up and got red rashes. We also found baby cockroaches in the bathroom. Because there was no trash bin in the bedroom, ants kept coming into the room since we had nowhere to dispose of garbage.
The elevator looks old and very small. If you take the stairs, some areas seem unfinished, which felt a bit scary.
Overall, if you are staying just for a short visit, it is still acceptable."

"CBD2 was very good overall, the room was clean spacious and had a great view of the river and city. Stuff for excellent they carried our bags up to our room and answered any questions we had. This hotel was perfect for us because we had a car so it was a short, five minute drive across the river into the middle of the city where the markets and restaurants were. Price was good so I would recommend this hotel."

The service was ok.
We mentioned we have 5yo daughter, and booked premium room with extra sofa .
The didn’t want to give us extra blanket or bedding.
We paid extra for breakfast - and got “a la carte” - 4 choices of rolls (chicken or curry inside at 8 am) and very limited options for hot drinks. We couldn’t order a tea or iced Americano.
It wasn’t written in anyplace, so we couldn’t know, and was very disappointing because we were with kids and looked specially for a place with breakfast.
It could be a nice place if you don’t need a breakfast or going anywhere."

"I spent my last 8 nights in Thailand in the Regent Hotel as I just wanted to chillax after 2 months travelling! I loved my time there. The staff are extremely helpful and Google translate is great for communication. My room was HUGE! The Air Con was excellent (Rm304)! The bathroom had a wall separating the toilet from the shower and that was great! The electric shower was perfect. The cleaning staff work hard. The gardener is constantly on the go and keeps the outside area spotlessly clean. Well done to him. The wardrobe space was super and storeage was great also. My only complaint (and that’s for every hotel room in Thailand) is the lack of double glazing to keep out the noise from the main rosd traffic. Otherwise everything was great in the hotel Thank you."

"The hotel is modern but very thin walls carry the noise from the ceiling and other rooms. Kettle and mugs provided but no coffee!! First time i have stayed In a hotel that did not have coffee in the room very strange.
The TV is very old fashioned nothing in English. Shower needed to run a long time to give hit water
What is most annoying is the balcony light which cannot be switched off so the room is filled with white artificial light even after the curtain is drawn. Doesn't make any sense."

"A Fading Gem with a Fantastic Breakfast
The Wang Tai Hotel feels like a grand dame from a bygone era. Walking into the lobby, you can see it was once a truly luxurious place, and that sense of scale and history is still there. However, it's clear the hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. While everything is clean, the decor and some furnishings feel a little tired and dated.
That minor point aside, our stay was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, always going out of their way to assist us.
The breakfast, however, was a wonderful and unexpected highlight! Instead of a standard buffet, it's ordered a la carte from a menu. Don't let that worry you the range is huge, covering both Thai and Western options. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. It felt more like a restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast.
The large swimming pool is a major plus – perfect for a refreshing dip and lounging in the sun. The location is also very good, making it a convenient base for exploring Surat Thani.
In summary, if you can look past the slightly worn edges, The Wang Tai Hotel offers incredible value, spearheaded by a stellar breakfast, great pool, and excellent service. A little refurbishment would easily make this a 5-star experience again."

GGuest UserThis really is a 10/10 place. My husband and my favourite place we’ve stayed, this trip to Thailand. We’ve already decided we want to come back, with friends, next time.
We wanted a place to cut our drive to Bangkok and had no idea Sarat Thani and the surrounding area had so much to offer.
Mr. Pongsak, the owner, could not be more lovely. He is so thoughtful and invested in making sure everyone who stays has the best experience and shares his knowledge of the area and all the things there are to do and see.
We drove a rented car, and found it sooooo peaceful and relaxing to be there. And so close to get to town, markets and lots of yummy foods.
We cannot wait to share this gem with friends and try the other cabins. The pond with all its fish is a gorgeous water feature too.
They opened in 2025 and are building a third cabin. They are modern and still so charming and relaxing.
Cannot wait til we can return on our next trip.
My only concern is that it is such a great spot and is going to be so popular, we will need to book well in advance next time!

EElena from ChinaGood location if you don't want to take a night ferry, helpful staff. The bed is rather hard, good thing I was prepared and had my own shampoo etc, the toiletries the hotel provides are too basic. I'm quite sensitive to noise, the room was good, no sounds.
Bust station just in about 4 blocks from the hotel, you can buy a transfer ticket bus+ ferry to an island (Pangan or Samui).there's also Harmonic restaurant near the bus (coach) station, quite good.

Around it, the city breathes commerce: food stalls, markets, bus stations. From here, you can walk to the Seatrans bus terminal, and soon after find yourself boarding a ferry to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. You can wander to the agricultural market, where local trucks carry passengers to Phunphin railway station. Every path from this corner leads somewhere further, as if the city itself is designed for departures.
Parking, often a worry in the center of a restless town, is solved here. Behind the hotel, a wide lot waits—easy to enter, easy to leave, as if movement were always part of the plan.
The lobby never sleeps. Staff at the desk watch the night pass with quiet patience. A small elevator, unassuming, carries you to rooms that are wide and clean. At the entrance, a wardrobe stands for shirts, bags, forgotten stories.
The window is large—generous with light in the day, but not always generous with silence. If your room faces the street, the sound of passing cars may slip through. Yet by night, the city softens. The roads empty, and stillness returns, like an old friend.
The bathroom is spacious, the water strong and insistent. Not new, but cared for, like something that understands its role. The bed is soft, the air conditioner steady, the space around it wide enough that you never feel trapped.
This is a hotel for pauses, not destinations. For the traveler between islands, between parties, between versions of themselves. Affordable, reliable, unpretentious.

BBrugginkCommunication was a bit challenging. I'd messaged them via the travel site and emailed the correct address, but it seems calling is the most reliable way to reach them. I wanted to arrange a pickup, as Bolt/Grab services in Surat Thani don't accommodate 5 people; they only cater for 4, and we also had quite a bit of luggage.
The van was supposed to meet us at Surat Thani station, but our bus dropped us off in the city center instead. This led to a dramatic 45-minute wait, during which we made several calls and sent emails. It was incredibly frustrating because our emails weren't getting through, and the staff member's English wasn't good enough to fully understand my concerns. Eventually, we were picked up, but by then, after a 6-hour journey, we were completely worn out.
Upon arrival, check-in was quick. Unfortunately, the rooms don't have balconies, but they are clean. The bed was too soft; if one person turned over, the other could feel it. However, there was a TV, so we could connect our Chromecast to watch Netflix. The pool was beautiful, and there was a designated smoking area outside. Two pillows are provided per bed, so there's no need to ask for extras. The only downside is that pool towels aren't provided, so you have to use your bath towel for the pool and then dry yourself with it again after showering. I find this unhygienic; I asked for a second set of towels, but I think this should be a standard offering. They diligently refill water bottles daily, and housekeeping is excellent – you don't even need to ask, they simply do a great job.
The hotel has a fridge stocked with drinks and beer for purchase, which allowed us to comfortably sit outside. Someone is always at the reception until late, which is reassuring.
It was very quiet, so we had the pool all to ourselves the next day too. We found the mall, and the receptionist kindly helped us locate a supermarket less than a 5-minute walk away. She also arranged a taxi for us to the pier for the following day. For our two-night stay, it was perfect.
We only had breakfast one morning, and it was less than we expected and not really worth the price.
All in all, this was an excellent hotel for us to unwind before catching our boat. The staff truly goes out of their way to help you wherever they can.

GGuest UserFor the money we paid we got what we got. It is an old hotel, but it was clean. Unfortunately they only provide a small soap, toilet paper and towels, no shampoo, conditioner or shower gel. The bad was that the fan room had no hot water which was surprising for us, and on top of this we got no proper blanket to cover ourselves but a towel which wasn't that big so we were struggling with the cold during the night. Also, you can hear everything around as the room had a big opening to the main hall covered with something like a fence so you can see throw and obviously hear anyone passing by. The toilet had the same issue, the walls aren't built up to the ceiling so you can hear everything happening there in the room...

LLeem TanGood location, easy to find food because it's next to the hospital. There is a parking space for people to hitchhike to because there are a lot of cars in the morning. The room is ok, the bed is soft at V, the air conditioner is cool, but room 206 has a broken sink and clogged water pipe1. The rest are all good. There's also fresh coffee available.

GGuest UserA very reasonably priced hotel with clean and comfy room and small balcony. The location is just over the bridge the other side from the main town but it is quite peaceful and very easy to access the night markets. I would recommend renting a moped or even a bicycle would be fine. If you visit, walk down to the waterfront near the crossroads bar and you might see a big monitor lizard in the tree. Also I recommend a little trip to Koh Lamphu which is a little island you can go around on foot or bicycle. Next to the entrance there is a little food market which opens at night. A perfect way to experience a bit of local Thai life.
