Villa Columbus Family Boutique Hotel

If you would like to totally unwind in old school Spanish style, with attentive and charming staff- in exquisitely beautiful surroundings then this well run small villa complex is for you..... The place is a charming and serene oasis. The staff are all genuinely amazing and most attentive. Service with a smile every time. The food - including breakfast is of high quality. Food can be ordered throughout the day until about 9.30. Chef takes pride in his work and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Rooms are basic in Spanish style but clean and good air con in all rooms. A lot of steps so maybe not for those with any mobility issues. The place was established back in the 60s and it certainly retains an air of former traditional times. Quality, relaxation, beautiful grounds and pool, lovely dining terrace with fountain, traditional bar ( check out the Sangria _ Julio's recipe! ) A mix of nationalities _ all pleasantly getting along together. If you want to visit the town - the main tourist Street is just near enough to stroll in 5 minutes. The lovely beach one more minute away. If Columbus had discovered this place he may not have ventured any further!!!

A lovely small hotel with a beautiful relaxing pool area and stunning gardens. Very attentive staff. Saskia and Paco were amazing. The food here is fantastic and the seafood paella was the best I've had. Our rooms were kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. Sad to go home!

Stayed here as a family wth two young children in the family room. Positives * Very well located, only 5 min walk into centre of resort, which has lots of shops and nice restaurants and a fantastic beach. Beach great for little ones as very shallow sea and soft sand. 20/25 min from airport. * Pool area is very well kept and tranquil, in a lovely setting. Some days we had the pool to ourselves and it was the school holidays! Negatives * Extremely basic room and very noisy. The family room was located directly above a road, which was not busy but had recycling bins and service entries to a few hotels. We were woken every morning at 6.30am by a constant stream of either bin men (who came every day), delivery lorries and coaches. This had an impact on our stay as we couldnt keep the kids up too late in the evening as they were woken up early each morning. Balcony also very unsafe for young children as not enclosed. Sheets not cleaned for the whole week stay - this was an extra charge. When paying nearly 200 euro a night, I would have expected clean sheets at least once during the stay. Also no pool towels provided, again an extra charge. * Not sure about the previous good reviews for the food. We are foodies and enojy local cuisine. We did not really enjoy the hotel food. There was a massive wasp problem and the breakfast buffet was covered in wasps crawling all over the food. Same limited choice every day, no fresh pastries and only melon as the fresh fruit. Coffee however was very nice. We often grabbed a fresh bakery item from one of the many bakeries in the town as we left breakfast hungry. We ate at the hotel in the evening twice. The first time was ok, although i ordered seafood pasta and got a pizza! The second (tapas night) was very slow service despite there being only two tables eating (took two hours) and the food was tasteless. Both meals were ruined by the amount of wasps. At one point we counted 20 wasps on our table when we were trying to eat. Overall, I suppose for a 2 star hotel ,the hotel is ok. It certainly has a charm about it and the pool area and surroundings were lovely. We will not however be staying again as it was far too basic and noisy for us.

Location is good.Staff and owners are very friendly.Breakfast and the restaurant are perfect.I and My son have been in april for tennis and enjoy:)) We ended up eating at Villa Columbus every night! We are realy appricate again for great hospitality.Hope to come back
