Agriturismo Fattoria Lavacchio

I was lucky enough to stay here during the 2 weeks of the harvest this year, it was such a special time to be living on this beautiful family run farm. I stayed in one of the apartments which made me feel like a true local, watching the little tractors move the freshly picked grapes from my bedroom window. There is the most amazing shop just over the road selling all the produce from the farm and surrounding area, they had everything i needed and always greeted me with my name and the kindest smiles. Giada and Francesco at the shop are the kindest people and made me so welcome, making my cappucino every morning and even helping me to learn the language. I will always treasure my time spent on this farm, and hope to return one day.

Fattoria Lavacchio Unmatched vistas and really good wines!! A biodynamic sustainable farm and vineyard in the beautiful hills of the chianti region in Tuscany, they produce very nice wines (reds, whites, rose’s) and olive oil. The tour provided by our Japanese guide, Santo, was both informative and fun. We had a great time tasting under the pergola of vines. They have a lovely variety of wines and really good olive oil as well.

Honestly, writing this review is bittersweet. The location is beautiful, as is much of Florence. And because we were on our honeymoon we did make the best of our stay and enjoyed what we could. However, upon our arrival we learn that the wine tour we booked had been cancelled without any prior notice. They never confirmed with us that our schedule had been rearranged until we checked in for our stay the day of. That was sad to hear because why visit a winery and not go on a wine tour?? Secondly, as we were checking in the receptionist was on the phone with our olive oil tasting guide (who is also the wine sommelier) rescheduling our olive oil tasting for as soon as possible because the sommelier was double booked and had a later event that overlapped our newly scheduled olive oil tasting. We didn’t even take our bags out of the car because we no longer had time. The olive oil tasting was enjoyable and informative. Although the sommelier had plans right after our tasting it didn’t feel rushed and we enjoyed the olive oils we tried. Since the venue no longer had a wine tour available for us, they recommended that we did a tasting menu at their restaurant for dinner instead. We did, the food was delicious and the wine was wonderfully paired. The next day we had a cooking class which was wonderful. It ended up being a private class with myself and my husband and the food we prepared with the chef was delicious. We had such a great time! The food, the wine, and the olive oils are all delicious here, but the service was unorganized and somewhat disappointing. Because we enjoyed their products, we made an order to ship from Italy to USA. We thought we were making an order with enough olive oil and wine to share with family and friends. However, three weeks later when our order arrived, we realized they never entered the proper quantities and even missed some items entirely. This was so disappointing especially since shipping was so expensive and now we no longer have souvenirs to share with our family and friends. I’m not sure I’d recommend this place to a friend.

Absolutely brilliant, relaxing and staff helpful. Stayed 3 days recently attending a wedding. The location and views excellent, all the rooms we visited comfy and very clean. Bed and bathrooms superb. The swimming pool an added bonus. Wine superb.
