I booked here for one night as was on site 20 mins down the road. I found the room to be basic, but everything I needed. I booked the En Suite Double Room as I didn't want to share a bathroom and didn't want to sleep on a single bed. It came with a little flat screen tv, a desk, a bed and 2 side drawers along with a little storage to hang up clothes and put the suitcase. The tap was missing the top cover for the cold tap, but it worked fine as did the hot water. I also found the room to be clean and the staff to be friendly. I paid extra to have the breakfast which came as 5 different options (I had the poached egg, sausage, bacon and mushrooms and 2 slices of toast) which was fine and couldn't complain. I feel like people are expecting the ritz accomodation for a low price? I knew what I was booking when I booked at £70, it did it's job and had no issues
We had a really great stay at De Vere Wokefield Estate, Elle & Diaa in reception were so lovely and extremely helpful throughout our stay, Kim & Sarah at breakfast were also so helpful and such friendly chatty people, really made you feel at home and nothing was any trouble to them. A special mention to the night porter (who’s name we unfortunately didn’t get) who kindly gave us a drive over to the mansion house Saturday night on a buggy as our feet were very sore!
The hotel is close to Reading Railway Station. The location is convenient and within walking distance. The room is small and the place is clean. It is suitable for a stop for a day or two. There are large supermarkets and liquor stores nearby, which are enough for all your needs. In particular, behind the hotel is the Thames River. The scenery is superb. Swans roam, cruise ships shuttle, geese and teal fly together. It is an unparalleled secret in the world. It would be a pity not to visit if you stay here😁

A lovely, central place. The staff provided excellent hospitality and the vibe was amazing. There are many things to do, such as playing table football, reading a book, etc. What exactly you need for relaxing!
So, I don't know. But Premier Suites Reading has two buildings. I was only here in the main building 4 months ago, and past the other building everyday, Without realising. So I have come back to reading, using the Premier Suites, directly as I was impressed by price, location and quality of the apartment. I arrived a bit earlier than planned, and was offered a room, sorry apartment in the other building ( if you know the area, it's on the same road, otherside by the cake/bakery shop on the corner) There is only 5 apartments on the 5th and only floor available Mine didn't have the best view, which overlooked the oracle shopping centre roofline. But wasn't here for views, as said before, price location and quality of furnishings This was a short stay. But enjoyed it very much. And being even closer to the main pedestrian shopping area Best thing to having your home comforts, and being in the city centre too Photos were taken, but they just didn't show the size of the living room, with open plan kitchen and single extra king size bed in the bedroom

Perfect for me as it’s right across from the office but probably not so great if you wanted to be in the city centre although it’s only an £8 taxi ride or £2 bus ride. Opposite a Beefeater which was handy but I would prefer an on-site bar and restaurant. Felt a bit uncomfortable on check-in to be asked if I was a smoker (I’m not) and if anyone would be joining me later 😳. Didn’t like the bed being made up with sheets, blanket and counter pane as it’s quite uncomfortable particularly on one of the hottest days of the year although the mobile air conditioning unit helped (first time I’ve had sheets and blankets for over 30 years since the day I got married despite extensive business (weekly) and leisure travel (4-6 times a year)). Hotel was very clean and the bathroom was well equipped. A bottle of water would have been a welcome addition to the room particularly in such hot weather. Not sure who to recommend the hotel to as it’s neither a corporate hotel with all the amenities or a home from home. Breakfast was on offer for an additional £15 and I decided to wait until I checked in to see. As I wanted to be in the office for 8am and there was no menu available, times of service or visibility of a dining room, other facilities or even other guests, I decided it may be too intimate and opted for a cold sandwich I had stored in the office fridge ‘just in case’. Was similarly priced to the executive room I had in the Novotel last week which had a full buffet breakfast included.
As soon I stepped into the hotel, I knew I was in for a unique and memorable experience because it used to be a pub many years ago. The hotel itself exudes charm and character, setting it apart from the typical chain hotels. The historical charm of the Reading 1843 Hotel was complemented by tasteful modern touches, creating a perfect blend of old-world elegance and contemporary comfort. The interior design was thoughtfully curated, making every corner a feast for the eyes. When we met the restaurant manager, he gave us the restaurant's menu and offered a delightful array of dishes, each with a creative twist. The food was amazing – fresh, spicy and beautifully presented. It looks like the team at Reading 1843 Hotel takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about their guests' experience very seriously. The result of my experience at Reading 1843 Hotel exceeded all expectations. It's a destination that leaves a lasting impression.
The hotel was excellent, in our room was a comfortable King size bed, with good en suite facilities. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with a good knowledge of the locality. We opted for the full English breakfast, which was supplemental to the room charge, but was well cooked and tasty, and gave a good start to the day. Although about a mile from the city centre, the hotel is only a couple of hundred yards from a bus stop with frequent services to the city centre. There is free off road parking.Thoroughly recommended.

GGuest UserExceptional service from booking to checkout. True definition of going the extra mile to ensure every aspect of our stay was as expected. Exceptional customer service from senior management to customer facing staff at reception. Vivek, Catia and Riko… your energy and passion ooze through every interaction and is contagious! Every staff member at every interaction is approachable, a special mention to Nicola and Fariha at reception; very helpful and friendly while well presented and professional. Your cleanliness and attention to detail and person centred approach has blown us away. We are well travelled, but see ourselves returning to you no matter what event or occasion we are celebrating. From birthdays, relaxing adult only weekends, family breaks, team building weekends… There is nothing we would not trust the hotel staff to manage. Thank you for making us feel part of the Voco Reading family, best #IHG hotel in this part of England, and we are definitely coming back. Excellent value for money for the service you provide!
GGuest UserThe good part: Staff are very friendly although check-in seems to take a little longer than Premier Inn, the reception area and seating to relax looks fantastic and the pizzas that the staff make 24/7 are absolutely delicious. The drink & pizza prices are reasonable. Location wise is spot on, just a two minute walk from the train station and central to everything. They provide more variety of tea & coffee in rooms, such as fruit & herbal teas, and decaff coffee, this totally beats any other budget hotel. Bad points: This is a cashless hotel & this is something i'm firmly against for a variety of reasons they lost £200 in sales due to this from myself & friends. The pillows are rock hard and kept waking up with a sore neck, the beds are also uncomfortable and feels like your sleeping on the floor. The noise from housekeeping is absolutely atrocious all you hear from several floors above and below, are the staff dragging large heavy trollies around and this goes on from 11am to 4pm if you need to sleep during the day forget it. The toilets smell of sewage & urine so sometimes you return back to your room and it stinks. There is also construction work ongoing Monday-Friday until Nov 2022 yet the prices are still very high. The cooling systems seem to work fine for an hour or so but then quickly the room becomes stuffy and warm, due to the location having the window open is very noisy especially at weekends.
GGuest Userthe second i checked in got a very warm welcome from Safia and Prachi which made me feel very happy and is clear that the staff care about their jobs, even though the staff where polite the food was undercooked on multiple occasions during my stay which had also made vomit, i personally think the managers should be more on top of food quality.
We stay at Hilton Reading to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. First we would like to say thank you to Ferooz for accomodation and Jana for the accomodation and lovely prosecco .Then we would like to say thank you to Lorena and Kornelia for the room decoration and to Daniel for early check-in. Everything was perfect. The staff was helpful, the accomodations were beautiful and the breakfast was superb. It couldn't have been better. Thanks . We had a wonderfull stay at Hilton Reading. Our room was clean, spacious with great amenities and a confortable bed.Thank you again to the wonderfull team.
Very welcoming accommodations. Feels like you’re in the wrong place to start (a pub), but once you get in the room it has a nice aesthetic more like an air bnb than a hotel room (in a good way). Food and drink at the bar were great. More casual than your everyday hotel, which I appreciated.
GGuest UserTwo lifts out of three not working. Remaining one had no light except the glow from the control panel. We were floor 9. Lift took us to 4, then 13, then 10, then 4, then basement, and back to ground floor. My wife has claustrophobia and does not like small dark enclosed spaces. Helpful staff led us through to next-door Ibis where lifts were working and illuminated, and gave us a card to use them.
Price of Snickers bar and similar items is £2.49. Costs 99p in small store just along the road.
Room was OK when we finally got to it, but initial experience puts us off using Novotel again.
GGuest UserAwful location right in centre of Reading where there is absolutely NO PARKING anywhere near the hotel. You cannot even stop just outside to set passengers down or drop luggage as it is entirely surrounded by double RED lines - no stopping at any time. You have to park in a long stay car park at the Railway Station, which is a good 7 or 8 minutes walk away, and carry your luggage to the hotel yourself. Lad who checked us in was so helpful. He not only found me some additional pillows and brought them to the room very quickly, but he also booked a cab for us to our restaurant at the Oracle. On the other hand, the girl on duty this morning obviously could not give a toss when I reported that our air conditioning did not work and our toilet did not flush. As it was the hottest day on record yesterday, we had to try to sleep with a tiny window open to get any air, which of course (in a city centre) was noisy. As for the toilet, the very least I demand of any hotel room is that I get a functioning toilet. I had to take the plastic inner from the waste bin in the bathroom and fill it with water in the sink and then tip it into the toilet to get rid of our waste. Not pleasant. And this was in the £340 a night Rocket suite! Girl on duty's response - ”I will tell maintenance”. Not even a ”sorry to hear that” let alone any offer of compensation by reducing the bill. Awful. Will never stay here again.
DDarrenVery nice clean hotel would definitely stay there again. It was also nice getting a free upgrade on the room. Witch had kettle, microwave, and fridge with a small freezer compartment. The room was like your own flat. Only down side to it was the shower was pretty crap. But you can put up with it for few nights.
AArunReally nice stay for reasonable rate and really helpful staff. Thank you so much. It was a good experience. Will recommend my family and friends if they need a stay in Reading.
