Lovely, quiet family run hotel. Fantastic helpful staff especially at reception. They could not have been more helpful telling us about buses and where to go. There is music at the bars, but it is not loud and you can easily find a really quiet spot in the lovely shady garden around the pool. Tasty food and plenty of variety. Five minutes walk to the beach. We were really sorry to leave

Great hotel, fantastic facilities ... we had the best possible vacation in Crete ! It was easy to enjoy the good food, drinks (all inclusive), swimming pool together. No negative aspects to mention - for us a good reason to return another time - and to advise other people to check it theirselves.

This hotel was in a good area, located under a 5 minute walk from a nice beach and beach club. There was a cheap bus service on the road out the front which enabled us to get to Rethymnon town with ease. The rooms in the hotel were pleasant, as seen in pictures, and as clean as you’d hope. The beds were comfy and the showers were good. The staff in the hotel were also very friendly for the most part. When we arrived really late the first day, after the restaurant had closed, they set us up a table and had a meal ready for us to eat which was a lovely surprise. The food in the hotel was decent, with a buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner (breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and lunch in the poolside bar). The only downside to the “all inclusive” part was that the free drinks were only cheap versions of drinks you would like. For example, if you wanted a Coca Cola, you would get a cheap version that wasn’t as nice. If you wanted a proper cocktail you’d have to pay, which is a shame. The pool was great and a good size for us. The outside area was quiet and peaceful and didn’t have many children around (but that could have been because it was September). Overall a good place to stay if not that fussy about food and drink.

A small oasis in the hot July Crete. Lovely gardens, pool just the right size. Room spacious. Every room with small balcony and Aircon units. Staff amazing. Nothing too much. Kind, attentive and efficient. The hotel Manager is present every night to greet guests in the dining room. She has a keen eye for tidy counters and immaculate presentation. I really liked that and made the experience even better. Great choice of food and plenty of salads and watermelon to cool you down. Husband loved the ice-cream available all day from 10 to 6 at the pool bar Stayed for 10nights all inclusive. Never had the same main course twice. Staff very accomodating with my husband's new dietary requirements of no cow milk - almond milk always available upon request at breakfast and afternoon tea. Total relaxation is guaranteed as no activities are organised around the pool like I experienced in bigger hotel chains. I liked it this way very much! The sea is a stroll away ( 10mins) and the there are pebbles on the shore so if you like waking on the beach bring sea shoes. They are also sold in every supermarket if you forget them. Rethimno beach is mainly sandy if you prefer. We went for the day. It was great fun! If you like to exercise like me there is an outdoor gym. It has a few equipments and free weights. You have the view of the overgrown vegetable garden planted with potatoes but I had peace, quiet and lots of sparrows and local birds keeping me company while I did my zumba after 6.30am every morning.

We spent two weeks on a family holiday and absolutely loved this place. All of the staff are super friendly, the food is exceptional and the rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The pool area is amazing and the children’s pool is super too with water slides and a play area.. It’s very close to a beach with a taverna and an amazing up market beach club but the hotel has everything you need. There’s table tennis, darts, a life size chess game, tennis court and a gym, all outside. It’s fabulous and the place for a relaxing holiday. Some of the comments I read in other reviews on here concerned us but it’s like they are about a different hotel. We are English, the mix of guests crosses many nationalities and everyone was friendly. We stayed half board (breakfast and evening meal) because we wanted to choose our evening drinks by brand. The prices are very reasonable and the service at the pool bar and the food choice is great. I can’t comment about the all inclusive as we didn’t take this option. There’s a Cretian dancing display one evening a week which is enjoyable. 10 minutes walk there’s a small town with restaurants, bars and shops and a great supermarket across the road. The bus stop is 100 meters away and it’s €1.10 each way to Rithymon. We will return here as it’s above what you would imagine in every way.

This hotel is a hidden gem! We now return every year for our summer holiday. The food is excellent, the pool and garden with the palm trees are superb and everyone goes well out of their way to help you and make your time there memorable. It’s a short walk to the beach or into the resort which has several shops, bars and tavernas and an easy bus ride into Rethymnon which is quite a large city. A large percentage of guests return year on year which is testament to this exceptional hotel. We will be back in 2025!!

We made an excellent choice with May Beach Hotel. Travelling with a rental car, the location is great as a base for discovering the Western Part of Crete (Chania, Rethymnon and most of the Heraklion Area). The staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the cleanliness and decor of the Hotel is exemplary. The well-kept garden with the pool area has a very relaxed and calm atmosphere where we could unwind after the trips of the day. We had half-board and dinner was fine with a wide selection of greek and european dishes. However, around the hotel there is not much going on in terms of traditional tavernas apart from the facilities in Platanes which seem very tourist-oriented, and the beach area behind the hotel is kinda mediocre if you know other beaches on Crete. We visited beaches in the south (Plakias and Frangokastello area, 1hr drive, great) and Phalasarna on the West Coast (2hr drive, extraordinary) which more than make up for this. Nevertheless, due to the main island road (New Road) being close you are able to reach many locations no time. The bus stop to Rethymnon is 100m away, and the trip is just 1 € and takes about 15 minutes. If you are prepared to travel a bit for your experience or are fine with hanging out at the pool the whole day, this hotel is perfect! My only major issue is that the rooms towards the front close to the residential road are very loud due to motorized traffic. I am normally not a big complainer in this regard but there are A LOT of very loud motorcycles passing through there especially later in the evening and also during the night. Also the windows and balcony door have only simple single-layer glass and are not sound-proofed. The hotel could really improve here. We asked for and got granted with no fuzz a room towards the back which was way quieter. All in all we had a very nice and relaxing holidays there and would come back. We recommend this to all travelers looking for a calm retreat in the center of the island with plans for regular forays into the countryside or the cities.

Stayed here for 1 week all inclusive. Very, very, very quiet hotel. If you are from the UK I would not recommend staying here.. If you are under 50 years old and from the UK then I would definitely not recommend this hotel. No English speaking guests so can feel isolated but then again everyone kept themselves to themselves, there was not any interaction between guests. The all inclusive is abysmal, poor selection of drinks (especially alcohol), the ‘beer’ is 10% beer, 90% soda water, the only spirits included is Raki, Ouzu & Brandy, you have to pay for anything else. The food as well was terrible, extremely small selection which we did not like at all, was lucky there were chips to eat on a few nights and then we just had bread and fruit most of the evening. There is no entertainment at all or any any music played around the pool during the day, it’s just pure silence. On to the positives.. - Friendly & helpful staff always available. - Small quiet hotel so it was relaxing throughout the whole day. - Decent outside pool which was never crowded (always sunbeds and good space free). - The location was great, 5 min walk to the beach via the hotel which has plenty of places to eat, sunbeds and a beach club. On either side on the main road if you took a little walk you can find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. €1 bus ticket to the main town which you can buy at the supermarket opposite the hotel (close bus stop and 10 minute journey). - Comfy spacious room and beds. I would return to this area in the future but definitely NOT this hotel, especially considering how much it was it did not live up to expectations.
