Rome Esquilino Hotels

Most of the existing reviews are quite accurate… this hotel is for a short stay, for sleeping only and nothing else. The price is good but don’t expect too much for the 4-star rating. Amazing location. Not dirty but not the cleanest hotel ever. The staff are neutral. You can deposit the bags but in the bar (seemingly) without much supervision. If you are looking for a very comfortable and luxurious stay with your couple, i would pay more and go to other hotels. But, if you are not looking forward to spend much time in the hotel and experience the city to the fullest hours, this is quite a good choice.

This was such an amazing find! From the friendliness of the staff, to cleanliness of the rooms and the brilliant location - most things were in walking distance and it's close to a metro line. I was here from 29th Dec '24 - 3rd Jan '25. I was initially really sceptical about staying in a hostel... However, to my complete surprise, it was the best decision ever. The staff really made us all feel at home! The bathrooms are cleaned daily. If you want to use a towel, they are available for rent. The beds and drawers are both lockable, and the room I stayed in was a 3 bed female room, which was also locked. On New Years Eve, we were all invited to join in for a special meal. For a low cost, we were served a 3 course home cooked meal! It was absolutely delicious! The diverse group around the table were amazing. We all shared our travel stories and then went off to watch the fireworks at midnight at the colosseum (which is only a 20min walk away). Everyone was super friendly, and I would absolutely recommend Free Hostels Roma to anyone travelling through or alone. What a great way to meet like-minded people!

Highly recommended. Daily housekeeping. Body wash/shampoo replenished on low, shower cap and towels provided. Hot water (tight shower area). Hair dryer, room safe, coat hangers. Floor is cold, bring your own house slippers. Friendly and approachable staff. Good breakfast spread: hot food (eggs, rice, cheese, ham, beans & carrot, mashed potato), coffee & tea with honey, toast, yogurt, cereal & milk, fruits (I take apple and banana up to my room), pies & cakes. Large dining area. 2 negatives are (1) location, long distance from Roma Termini train station and downtown (2) I have to carry my luggage up to 2nd floor (can get porter to help, but pity those on 3rd).

An okay hotel. Very noisy at night due to a nearby construction works, can’t sleep for 2 nights straight. Requested for an iron only sent in after the 3rd requests. Location was great, walking distance to Termini Station. 20mins walk to Trevi.

The breakfast was good. The room is too old. As I arrived the shower gel is empty so i used mines. You cannot connect your device to the tv since the receptionist said its not a smart tv. I was in 2 Stars hotel in Rome but overall theirs ist better than this 4 stars Hotel.

It’s the best hotel when we were travelling in Europe what I mean is the service and buffet breakfast were great and walk 3-5 minutes from the main train station

The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was also very convenient to leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out. The location is also good, within walking distance from Termini Station. However, be careful when taking a shower, as the room will get flooded. Other than that, it was good. Thank you!

Disadvantages: The hotel is very old, and the things are also very old. The bed is broken, and it falls apart when you lean on it. There is no air conditioning, but it is equipped with a cold air blower, which has a bit of air conditioning effect, but the sound is very loud. There is only one light in the room that can be used. Pros: Cheap, very cheap. It was only 500 yuan when I booked it on Ctrip that day. (I booked it earlier for 800 yuan, I don’t understand!) I feel very uncomfortable being ripped off by Ctrip. It is very close to Termini train station, very convenient, and there are many Chinese restaurants around. The front desk staff are all very nice. There is also breakfast!

The room is clean and tidy, but the space is a bit small. The location is very convenient. The boss gave a detailed introduction on the first day, so I didn't need to look for him later.

Every staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful! Room was a good size. Generally clean. However, it needs some updating with slightly peeling wallpaper and a musty smell. Location is great as it is within easy walking distance to marts, morning market, good restaurants and train station.
