Second time in this hotel and we will keep coming back as it is just amazing! The food, the staff, cleanliness, entertainment… it is all fabulous. Pedro with the teens club! Ari for aqua, Ruben on the reserve beach, Estree at the Vibra Bar, Rita and Stephanie, always smiling and happy to help. Enrique and of course Jorge Montanez who is just amazing! Making sure we are happy with everything and making your stay the most wonderful it can be. Yoga classes, HIT classes…I am forgetting so much as I could write pages about how great the hotel is.

Hotel is amazing, clean & bright . Staff are wonderful and work very hard .Drinks are well made and they are always asking if you’d like another . We stayed in reserve which was lovely and the staff around the pool couldn’t do enough for you . They brought dinks , bringing fruit and ice creams around everyday .Breakfast was hit and miss . You order you food it’s made fresh then sits under hot lamp for ages until the pick it up and bring it to you . Food was then overcooked. The food is very much below par for a 5* hotel . The buffet looks amazing , but the food is cold and not replenished . The other restaurants were no better . Particularly the Italian, dreadful experience waited 1 hour for food to arrive … when it did arrive the order was wrong . I have spoken directly to the hotel they say they will address this at the next department meeting . I hope they do but I don’t hold out much hope as the reviews on food have been consistently poor .

Admit to a heart sink when I realised that I’d booked an all inclusive without realising it, and then read some brutal reviews here. ( plus some very suspiciously similar good ones by first time reviewers. Hmm.) The business model of an all inclusive is obviously to deliver the least, from a staff with no tipping incentive to please. However those fears here were unfounded. This is a brand new and beautifully designed hotel, and the staff were largely charming and highly professional. We booked a junior reserve suite and it was a lovely space. A fabulous view, clean, with a regularly stocked mini bar and delightful bathroom area. The Reserve boasts its own adult only lap pool, though why people crowd around it, feet from each other and the pool like ticket holders for some aquatic gladiatorial combat that never happens is a mystery. Particularly when the main hotel infinity pool is charming and large, and the surprisingly lovely beach and Atlantic Ocean with huge fun filled waves is two steps away. Different strokes for different folks. The buffet is as one would expect, a canteen atmosphere with an unchanging menu. But plates are cleaned and glasses filled swiftly. Restaurant choice was limited during our stay. Kanna by the pool was appalling in the evening ( a meat skewer that would have challenged a great white shark to chew and a ‘cauliflower steak’ being just a raw piece of it burned on both sides) But the upside is you can just get up and leave and go and forage somewhere else. In sharp contrast the restaurant in the Reserve was outstanding. Devine set menus by a Michelin starred chef delivered with a great deal of theatre. Top class. Nice small spa. The hotel is also in a very quiet location, a boon for those not wanting to endure the human vandalism this beautiful island has suffered further up the coast. Would come back. Don’t often say that.

Lovely hotel and very helpful staff. Rooms are great and the whole place is spotless. Staff very accommodating. A constructive suggestion from our two independent ice cream advisory consultants (6 and 10 yrs): please provide wider ice cream options in the buffet eg copy the Gran Melia Palacio de Isora in Tenerife. It's overall a very relaxing place and we found most parents were conscious of keeping kids behaviours around the pool and buffet in decent balance with other categories of guests. We missed the size of the Palacio de Isora pool. We probably didn't make the most of the restaurants on offer but enjoyed an excellent pizza meal in the Italian. Food generally of a high standard. My view is it's impossible to accommodate everyone in a buffet, just focus on the bits that suit you, for example I loved the Canarian dishes and the sushi. The only annoying thing was the melia circle club pitch which all starts with a bit of a smiley "how is your stay" and moves on to the sales pitch. There's three or so hovering about the hotel -beware. It stopped after we made a friendly remark to the destination staff to be left in peace. But then it felt a bit awkward bumping into the circle disciples in the lobby etc. I've still given the hotel 5* in the review but was hovering between 4 and 5 because of this experience. Highly Recommended and will likely be back at some point.

Lovely staff, great quality resort, and The Reserve is the way to go if you don’t have kids. Our first time all-inclusive, so a little too focused on eating and drinking, in a sense feeling like you have to get the full value out of your holiday. Best part of the trip was the add-on meal at The Winery, Diego the award winning sommelier really made it an interesting, informative and very tasty evening.

A lovely hotel where “ALL” the staff work incredibly hard and are very personable. We encountered many staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Brian in particular was a member of staff who added a few extra touches to assist us with a couple of birthdays celebrations whilst we were there. We would have liked a few discreetly placed tip boxes so we were able to reward and recognise many of the hard working staff instead of individuals who were serving us on the odd occasion. Whilst we understand tipping is purely optional it would have been a nice touch for all staff to benefit during the festive period. The different restaurant set ups are a good idea so you don’t spend your whole stay in a buffet restaurant and there is generally something for everyone. Our only tip would be to place a microwave in the buffet so if like us you like your food piping hot you would have the option to heat it to your desired temperature. This was our first visit to Gran Canaria and both the hotel, the hotel staff , Canarian locals and the area made it a fabulous holiday for us
