Wonderful stay. Wonderful hospitality. Would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a retreat in the mountains surrounded by cows, horses and nature. The photos don’t do this place justice. There’s also a nearby temple. Best if you drive but they also offer free car to and from the airport

On the way to the hotel, one would surely be surprised by such a remote road, but upon arrival, you’d find that this Tibetan-style hotel blends beautifully into its surroundings and exudes a strong sense of cultural charm. I particularly love the sunken staircase design inside the guest rooms.
Modern luxury hotels tend to feel similar, but a luxury hotel infused with regional culture is far more worth experiencing.

What can I say? It's Banyan Tree! The name alone guarantees the quality of the accommodations and everything else.
Before I got there, the manager, Grace, told me that there's no pool or gym, so I was a bit disappointed. However, as soon as I got out of the taxi, everything turned out super satisfactory.
When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and a white sash for good luck, which made me feel so special. Then the staff offered me hot ginger tea (* trust me! this will instantly boost your immune system and keep you warm and hydrated, which is essential in Shangri-la) and cookies. I found the bed to be a little low, but the mattress, pillows and blankets were super comfy and fluffy. I loved them. The bathtub on the lower floor amazed me and made me immediately imagine myself lying there in the Qing Dynasty. Haha. I didn't want to waste water, so I didn't use it though.
It was my birthday trip, so the staff offered me special services such as decorating the bed with a Happy Birthday message and a fruit cake.
I went to the spa and had dinner at the hotel. Again, wonderful staff and services.
Finally, communicating with the staff via Wechat was easy and fast.
Thank you Banyan Tree for making my days so memorable. Whenever I have a good experience, I always think of my family. While staying at your resort, I did that A LOT.

The room was a little dated. Cable wires were not tidied up. Front desk service was average which was made up for by the attentive service of the restaurant staff as well as the beautiful scenery.

Despite the lack of greenery or floral scenery, our stay at the antique independent “bungalow” was made special by the warm welcome and excellent service from the manager, staff, and especially our housekeeper, ZhangLei! He was consistently attentive and caring towards us throughout our stay. Zhanglei also went above and beyond by protecting us from potential scammers, demonstrating his commitment to our safety and comfort throughout our stay.
We feel fortunate to have ZhangLei as our housekeeper, and we are incredibly grateful for his attentive service during our stay. Thank you!!

What a place! A gorgeous ******* style hotel in a fantastic wild location. Our villa made us feel like royalty and outside the door was a beautiful river valley to walk through full of animals.
The service that Kendrick gave us was impeccable and he took care of everything we wanted including changing our flights. of course we had a wonderful time living in traditional luxury.

Both Western and Chinese cuisine are served in Llamo, where signature dishes include deep-fried yak tenderloin, Yunnan roasted duck salad and Tibetan style hot and spicy noodles. Those seeking more adventurous surroundings in which to dine can opt for a Highland Romance, saddling up on horseback and being led by staff through the plains to the banks of a river for an open air dinner with a soundtrack of gurgling waters and reed pipes.
