I think we had our best time in Sri Lanka in Sinhagiri villa. This hotel is as eco-friendly as you can get. It uses completely renewable energy (also for the air conditioning) and the food in their restaurant is 100% organic. The vegetables and fruit you have for breakfast and dinner come from their garden and are grown without using any chemicals or pesticides. It is also the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. The vegetable curry dish comes with about 5 different vegetable dishes - each one bursting with flavour and mouth-wateringly delicious. Breakfast is a treat as well with lots of fruit from the garden and local breakfast dishes such as Sri Lankan pancakes and coconut roti with sambal. In addition, you are in the middle of nature so a peacock comes for a visit in the garden each day! Sriyani and her husband are also the most warm-hearted people you can meet. We had wonderful talks with them about everything and they went out of their way for us. We actually consider them friends now and hope to see them soon again! They are passionate about the environment and run their hotel and restaurant in a way that is good for the local surroundings, the people and the planet. We highly recommend!

I had a two night stay at Sinhagiri Villa and really enjoyed it. It’s a smallish, family run boutique hotel. You’ll enjoy home cooked meals and a very warm welcome while you’re there. While the rooms may be basic they are very clean and well maintained. It is convenient to local historic sites as well as other points of interest. We climbed Pidurangala Rock one morning and the hosts arranged a predawn tuk tuk driver for us. If you’re looking for an enjoyable stay as you explore Sri Lanka you won’t go wrong here. One note, my friend and I were self driving and had just clicked on the hotel on Google Maps to get navigation. The pin must be placed in the wrong location because we were routed about 20 minutes out of the way. When we entered the physical address found on the internet into the navigation it took us directly to Sinhagiri Villa. There is a great little lunch spot that is about a 1Km walk from the Villa, McCafe, check it out while you’re there, you’ll love it!

One amazing stay in sigiriya had to stay here a few more days just to get everything out of The place and The surroundings. This place is amazing and so is the family. Everyone is very respectfull and treating you very nicely.

We spent our first 3 nights in Sri Lanka here and it was a wonderful welcome to a beautiful country. It’s a good base to explore the Cultural Triangle. The owners are kind and helpful with anything we asked.

I felt the family were disappointed that I was a solo female because I feel they had expectations that I would book safaris with them which I was not interested in. I had booked an extra night through *********** by mistake and on the day I arrived the lady of the house told me I could cancel the whole booking and pay them directly. My plans changed again and I wanted to leave a day early. The man who owns the house got angry and made me pay for the third night saying that they had to turn down a couple that morning which I don’t believe. The funny thing is after breakfast when i separately told the wife I would be leaving that day she said okay you will now pay for two nights not three. Also they had 7 rooms and I doubt they were all occupied. I have read a lot of good reviews about this place which is why I chose to go there and I can see them being hospitable to groups of travelers. But I would not recommend this place to any solo female traveler.

the place was really good and the hosts were so friendly. they have an excellent food, so don’t miss the food. the room was also good for a stay home based on the price you pay. The distance to Sigiriya Rock is less than 25 minutes so you can start early in the morning and pay the visit when the Rock is less crowded
