I’m just finishing a night at the KKR Hotel Naka-Meguro. The KKR means a hotel for public civil servants, but these days anyone can stay there. The hotel is a 10 minute or so walk from Naka-Meguro Station. I found it easily on foot. It is slightly uphill, so with bulky luggage, a taxi is recommended. Check-in was quick and easy and my room on the third floor is very quiet and comfortable. It is the size of a typical Japanese hotel room. Small by western standards, but fine for me traveling solo. The hotel was quiet last night, so I slept well. Breakfast this morning was the most Japanese I have seen in decades. Rice and fish (the mackerel was delicious), miso soup, various toppings for the rice. It would be a surprise for many tourists as there are no western selections, not even toast. For me, it was fine and reminded me of when I first came to Japan 35 years ago. Back near Naka-Meguro station there are plenty of dining options. Overall, I had a good stay and would be happy to stay here again.
