The Charterhouse

Extremely welcoming and comfortable place to stay, we’ve been a few times now and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending a visit! Nothing is too much trouble! It’s clean and fresh with excellent facilities and a lovely sea views from the Riviera Room… Private Parking is good… Location is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach & only a 10 minute stroll up into Cockington Village via the lovely path. We love staying here & will definitely be back soon!!!

We have just returned from the most delightful stay at the Charterhouse Hotel and we only have good things to say. The communication before our stay was excellent from Lisa and the welcome we received was warmer than we’ve ever had elsewhere. She showed us the main parts of the hotel and around our room and assured us that whatever we need for our stay she would provide. We used the pool on both the first and second days, such a lovely place to relax, along with the terrace. We REALLY enjoyed breakfast both mornings and again Lisa proved that nothing was too much to ask. The range of food is huge, and I enjoyed the granola, yoghurt, toast, hash browns, juices and especially the sausages! Last but not least, the beautiful room. Honestly, I can’t recall having a nicer bedroom in a hotel. We had a lounge area with a fantastic sea view and the bed was so comfortable, with a great mix of pillows. We text to say we hope to be back one day, and received the most lovely reply from Lisa, adding the cherry on top of the already healthily iced cake.

The Charterhouse is nothing but perfect. The breakfast is all so fresh amazing food sets you up for the day. There is nothing Lisa won't do for you, she is so warming and friendly she just makes you feel so at home. Our room that we always have is spotlessly clean and so comfortable. The location is great so easy for bus rides, walks 2 mins from the beech. We park our car and don't use it again until we have to come home. We found the amazing Charterhouse about 3 years ago now and we have returned every year (twice a year) we love it so much!

We had a brilliant short break at The Charterhouse. The sea-view room was immaculate, absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. Some rather creaky floorboards from the room next door can be heard which could be noisy at night, but we had earplugs are were fine. The building itself is very nice and I bet the outdoor pool and garden areas in summer are lovely. Very convenient to have parking as it meant we could leave the car and walk along the seafront to explore Torquay and Cockington Village. The breakfasts were really delicious with so much choice and the service from Lisa was 10/10. We would love to stay here again if revisiting the area. Thank you!

Very clean and well maintained room. Excellent breakfast cooked to order. Lisa was friendly and helpful throughout. A good base to stay, short walk to bus stops for frequent services across Torbay. Easy access to Cockington village. A very pleasant stay.

I can see why The Charterhouse has so many 5* reviews, it’s a little gem within walking distance of Cockington and Torquay. We stayed for a short two night break in one of the garden rooms (Room 1). Spotlessly clean, warm and a comfy bed. The breakfast as previous reviews are excellent. Good selection of cereals, juice, yoghurts and home made jams not forgetting the cooked breakfast which was prepared and cooked to the highest standard. Thank you we will definitely return and can highly recommend
