I Recently had my daughter’s christening party here ( 100 guests) and can honestly not fault anything, nothing was too much to ask for. Piers ( manager) went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and the staff on the day were so lovely. The food was great and the bar was stocked up to everything we wanted, the buffet was served up by their staff which was lovely touch. Special mention to the manager on shift ( sorry didn’t get his name) but made the whole day perfect. Nothing was too much for him and always had a smile on his face. Thankyou guys will defiantly recommend this venue, the outside garden made it too!

We went to the restaurant for a family celebration. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived, nevertheless they had already run out of items and only had single portions left of standards such as steak. The service was disappointing with the head waiter having to come back more than once to take the order again. On the plus side the desserts were really good.

We were on an organised trip by the excellent Exclusive Holidays of Market Harborough. The hotel we stayed at was the Livermead House Hotel which is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Although AA rated as 3 star its food & services make it feel like it deserved a 5 star rating. The service was impeccable and utterly friendly delivered in style with waiting staff wearing formal attire and bar staff red jackets. The food tasted out of this world and was beautifully cooked and presented. The service was silver service with elegantly set dining tables. One evening we ordered Crepes Suzette, These were expertly flame cooked at our table and was a sight to be hold. The hotel, whilst old, was styled on the Agatha Christie era. It really looked the part with really good furniture and drapes. However, en-suite bathrooms were in modern style. My wife, myself and friends we made there really loved our stay there and would willingly come back again. In fact Exclusive Holidays were so impressed they have already booked the hotel for trip next year. A thoroughly recommended hotel by me. Top Class

As a special Birthday treat my family booked my Husband and I into a hotel that I have always admired when going past it, the Livermead House Hotel. It is a beautiful building overlooking Torbay with a traditional twist. From arrival to departure the welcome and service is very warm and professional with great attention to detail and service etiquette. The Bedroom, room 10 was very spacious and well equipped, and had been recently decorated in a beautiful traditional style. The ensuite was modern, immaculately clean and had excellent water pressure. A thoughtful gesture upon check in was a 50% cocktail voucher which covered a wide selection of options at the bar. We had been booked in on dinner Bed and Breakfast which is excellent value. The Menu was four courses with plenty of selection. I enjoyed a Smoked Trout starter which was delicious followed by Beef Consomme infused with herbs, again delicious. I opted for main course to pay a small supplement and have Fillet steak. The steak was cooked to perfection accompanied buy lots of fresh vegetables and sauteed potatoes, silver served to us. For dessert, an excellent Creme Brulee. From the Staff to the beautiful building and excellent food. If you enjoy Traditional Hospitality with a bit of nostalgia in comfortable surroundings, I highly recommend this Hotel.

We organised an event at the Livermead House Hotel in the big ballroom. The atmosphere was great, felt like the Victorian times, the food was fantastic, staff was very polite and helpful, and the management was also extremely helpful and listened to what we wanted. Next year we are going again :-)

Stayed for a backgammon tournament, really enjoyed the experience: it's very old fashioned (silver service, chandeliers etc) but that's part of the charm. It could be updated a lot I suppose but would lose something. Food was very good indeed and room comfortable.

We have been going to this hotel for a long time usually a party. Mostly elderly guests, and I have to say always been delighted. It takes a lot of patience to deal with us elderly ( I wasn’t elderly when I first visited) the staff at the Livermead House certainly have the patience and kindness with us. Tim , Elliot. , Jess at reception, ( def need patience which they have ). The staff in Restaurant are really amazing nothing and I mean is too much trouble for them. So yes we love the Livermead. House Hotel. And will certainly look forward to go again. When I first found this gem, I was a lot younger and my husband and me fell in love with the hotel , Sylvia was our lovely host then, ( with. Tim, and John who started. Marine Travel, so I have been going for a very long time. I have tried other hotels, but to be fair, nothing compared to the Livermead. House,

We came for Sunday lunch, so I can't say anything about the bedrooms. But from our impressions of Reception, the bar and the restaurant: This place is old-fashioned... In a very good way. Firstly, it's made by the staff, who are smart (not sure I've ever come across a restaurant Maitre d' in tails - at lunchtime..), polite, friendly and efficient. They give a very good impression of enjoying their jobs, which carries over into the whole feel of the place. Despite the formality of the staff's appearance, the decor and the table layouts, the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant was relaxed. The pianist had an idiosyncratic approach to his arrangements, which made playing "Spot the Tune" a fun game. Everything seemed clean and it was useful to have a area to hang bulky winter coats. I've docked a star because, in the end, the food was no more than average and did feel a bit conveyor-belty. We forgave this because their set-price menu, at this time of year at least, is good value. Additionally, the bar area was really cold, with a potentially cosy laid fire sitting there, sadly unlit and no radiators on. We'd have spent longer - and more money - had we been able to lose the goosepimples. I'm sure a lot of people would moan that this hotel - which was once the home of Charles Kingsley, of "Water Babies" fame - is "dated". I suppose it is. But it's unapologetic about not being all stainless steel and fake marble. If that's your bag, you've plenty of choice. I hope Livermead House stays as it is. We'll be back to enjoy its lovely "time-capsuley" feel.
