Hotel Villa Paola

It was a very pleasant stay in this old monastery that was transformed into a hotel. There are only about 12 rooms and the Standard room is quite small but with a comfortable bed and very nice smell. The property has a stunning multi layered garden and a beautiful infinity pool woth views onto Tropea. Tropea is within walking distance from the hotel but about 12min away. Everything was great but personally the breakfast was quite simple and selection is limited. I'm not a big breakfast eater but just wanted to highlight it as some people value a 5 star breakfast buffet. Staff is very friendly and helpful and overall the property is very well kept in shape. Definitely the best address in this area.

Wow, in a word. We stumbled across villa Paola in 2023 and just knew it was perfect for our wedding. We booked the hotel for exclusive use in April for our 24 guests. Although we had our wedding here ( I’d highly recommend) we also stayed prior and after the celebrations and I have to say Deborah and the team were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food is out of this world, fresh and traditional with a Villa Paola twist. Service and presentation along with wine recommendations are some of the best we have had the pleasure of experiencing. The rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard, fresh water and mini bar replenishments daily along with complimentary robes and slippers. The gardens were beautifully manicured were necessary and it was also lovely to see the villa with some traditional rustic areas too. I would highly recommend a glass of wine as the sun sets over the town at golden hour! Location is something that needs to be considered as it is a short walk to the town (not well lit in the evenings) however the Villa were more than happy to arrange taxis for guests in our party that required them. Most were happy to walk off the exquisite selection of foods served throughout our stay! We will definitely return as frequent visitors to Tropea. The hotel is lovely, but for us not close to $800 per night. We see the going rate is around$400 with a special deal for a suite, while we have the worst room in the hotel with no view, no balcony, or any other notable feature. Perhaps our room is so bad because we used the chase/expedia portal. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting beforehand to avoid disappointment.

Villa Paola surpassed our expectations. The hospitality was 5 star all the way - Extremely warm and friendly but at the same time, discreet. The personal touches were so thoughtful and appreciated. Personal notes in our room with home made treats, a beautiful reusable bag. We could see so much love and care in every aspect of the hotel. The way our room was cleaned, how the stunning gardens are kept so beautifully, the delicious food and the sincere will for guests to have the best experience at the hotel. Everything is home made and home grown produce from the gardens. There are no single use plastics on site. The outside patio overlooks the bay and marina and the deepest blue ocean. The pool has the same gorgeous outlook and the scent of jasmine fills the air outside. Our highlights: dinner in the restaurant, the breakfast omlette with juicy fresh Cherry tomato, fresh orange juice. The Villa Paola spritz and the Calabrian olives at apperitivo and : the staff. All of them. We felt so welcome and can’t wait to visit again. Elegant, charming, luxurious and a delight to stay. I BOOKED A ROOM FOR TWO NIGHTS ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE. ONE WEEK BEFORE MY ARRIVAL, I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THE HOTEL ADVISING ME THAT I COULD ONLY STAY FOR ONE NIGHT, AS MY SECOND NIGHT WAS BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM ME BECAUSE THERE WAS A "SPECIAL EVENT" THAT NIGHT AT THE HOTEL. IN SIXTY YEARS OF TRAVEL, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME. THIS HOTEL IS SHAMEFUL AND DISREPUTABLE. I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND WOULD ADVISE NO ONE TO EVER BOOK HERE. YOUR BOOKING IS WORTHLESS!!!!!!!

Wow. Beautiful We loved our room!! Ocean view beautiful room! Large and a balcony It was hubby birthday so it was great to have a special room. It’s about a 20 minute walk to town The grounds, the food and location all were so nice! We hope to return!
