The best jungle hotel I've ever stayed in, bar none. Free bicycles, kayaks, and cave exploration activities. But there is only one restaurant nearby and it's a bit expensive.

Wakax is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate while surrounded by nature. Delicious food, beautiful and peaceful surroundings, coupled an excellent tour guide (Gonzalo) will make it an experience you will never forget! We spent five days at the hacienda and took full advantage of every tour of the property that Gonzalo offered. The cave tour of one of the largest cenotes on the property is not to be missed! We will definitely be back for another visit!

We really enjoyed this break away from everything. This is a beautiful resort, the property is gorgeous and well maintained. The wait staff, cleaning staff and Gonzo (guide) were incredible. Definitely take the Cenote tour with Gonzo, its a great experience and he is an incredible guide. He also has a lot of knowledge about the history of the resort. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a terrace. Loved the day bed, and one evening the pigs on the property came by for a visit. Very quiet area, the resort was at 50% capacity so everyone definitely had their space. We loved spending the day at the lagoon, nice loungers and you can get food and bar service. My only criticism would be the Reception staff, a couple of the men that work there need improvement. And this is not "American entitlement". I live in Mexico so I am used to things being handled a little differently.. The lady that checked us in was wonderful, answered all of our questions and escorted us to our room. We had asked about outside tours (ATV-ziplining) and she gave us the information and told us that they would make the arrangements. Unfortunately we did not see her in the office after that, and the gentlemen that were working would not help with this, even though they said they would. After 2 days and 2 requests, we got a recommendation from another staff member and booked it with a different company ourselves. I also asked for bikes and was told to do that later. Thought that was a bit odd, but we just walked instead of using the bikes. I called the number they provide to your to make a spa appt. 3 times but no one answered the phone. I found this to be a challenge with reception as well, so I would suggest you go directly to their office and speak to them in person. You should take pesos to tip the cleaning staff, guides, and the guys that help with your luggage. I did not see an ATM on the property. The wait staff you can tip when you sign for your meal bill. I would also recommend if you want snacks in your room, have your driver stop before you get to the resort. Soda/Water is available in your room, along with some nuts & dried fruit.

What a wonderful and magical place! The rooms are situated in the middle of the jungle, you can't get any more authentic than this. It's a paradise in itself where you can totally resource yourself as it is so quiet, and because of the size of the hacienda you hardly see other guests. A place of total tranquility. I would like to especially mention the massage with Adriana. A fantastic and unique experience that is unforgettable. She also delivers yoga lessons which was fantastic with a view on the lake. Unfortunately, we could not experience the Temazcal also run by Adriana as we planned it too late. The staff is attentive, polite and always smiling, always ready to help whenever they can. Nothing is never too much! I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and would recommend it 100%! If you want an authentic Mexican holidays away from all the hectic touristic places, then Wakax Hacienda is the place to go!!

We (my wife, 4y old daughter and I) booked 3 nights at the Wakax. The hacienda is in close proximity to Tulum and yet lightyears away from the somehow aggressive rip off in Tulum's zona hotelera. The entire expansive grounds of the Wakax are - I can't describe it any other way - magical. From the moment you check in, you are surrounded by peace, relaxation and beautiful nature. The restaurant is located on a picturesque lagoon (including a small waterfall) where you can swim, stand up paddle or kayak. The other side of the property features your own "private" cenote, and even an area with free-range peacocks and pigs. Every day there are guided tours to the cenote or even underwater caves (highly recomended, we did it with our daughter - thrilling!!). All this it is included in the room rate. The restaurant is good, the mescalitas were the best of our entire Yucatan trip. The whole team helped us with minor health problems of our daughter in an incomparable caring way. To make a long story short, the hotel is visually as spectacularly “instagrammable” as some hot spots in tulum itself, but combined with a generous, almost family vibe that you will never find in the zona hotelera. Long may it stay that way!

What a wonderful find, our 4 day stay was a little peace of paradise. The staff were amazing super friendly and very helpful, big mention for Gonzalo, highly recommend the under water river Senote, experience of a life time. Day trips to Tulum are with in distance and being in the jungle was truly epic. Can not recommend this place enough. One of the best hotels that we stay.

I've stayed at many hotels, but the experience at Wakax Hacienda was unique. The location is convenient. The hotel is just off the highway south of Tulum city. It is not on the beach, but the beach is less than ten minutes away. You are close to the Tulum ruins and the highway is convenient to go to any other sites. It is an easy approximately 60 minute drive from the airport. You enter the unassuming gate where they check your reservation and wave you through to the parking lot. You will be offered water and a cool towel prior to an easy check in process. We stayed in a comfy three room suite next to the office, but more private cottages are available too. Why is this hotel special? While Tulum has earned a reputation as a party town, the Wakax is a true oasis of serenity. I have rarely been anywhere so quiet, usually just the sounds of the occasional bird. While there are fifty rooms, the grounds are so expansive you will often feel that you are the only ones on the property. There are so many things to see and explore. Three pools, jungle paths, multiple cenotes. The pictures do not do justice to the place. For example, the pictures make the lagoons seem like algae-filled green. In reality, they are green but the water is clear and a pleasure to go paddle-boarding in. The attention to detail throughout the property is amazing, the designers had exquisite taste. We had previously been to a cenote on a tour and had the attitude "seen one cenote seen them all". That was before we met Gonzalo. He took the time to share the history of the property and he offered an extensive tour inside one of the property's cenotes. Long story short, it was one of the highlights of our vacation. Clearly, it's not a party hotel. You won't see many other guests except at the restaurant (which is excellent btw). The hotel is in a jungle and the management hasn't taken the fun out of exploring, so families with small children will want to be careful. The bottom line, if you stay here you will feel like you are on the inside of an episode of "Lifestyles of the rich and famous". We felt so special to have been a part of it for two days.
