I loved this hotel because the staff were so universally friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was just lovely. I had two great meals there. Good value for money too. My one big complaint is the room was way too hot. It was 33°C. The air conditioning didn't work. The only advice I could be given was open the window. The 3 inches it opened. Nothing worked and it did make sleep difficult. Such a shame as it puts me off rebooking for October when I go again. There is an excellent ”Walking Street” opposite the hotel with restaurants and bars, so I'll be sad to change to a different hotel. Fix the room temperature, please!

It’s in a good location and overall it meets my expectations of what a 5 star hotel should be. Room is big enough and has a good view. Finally, loads of options for breakfast. Definitely, it’s the hotel I would stay in whenever I plan to visit Mongolia again.

Good location, just a five minute walk from the main square, and near there a couple of the most important museums. The main post office is there too. In the other direction is the Shangri-La shopping centre also nearby, with eateries upstairs. The hotel is a little old fashioned perhaps, but comfortable. For a westerner like myself the breakfast was quite satisfactory, with fruit, cereal, toast and jam available. The girls at reception spoke good English and were helpful.

The hotel has been renowated in 2024 so everything is very nice and clean, but still a lot of room for upgrades, especially regarding to the restaurant and coffee shop - they are not even close to the 5* hotel level

This hotel is in a good location, close to Ganden Monastery. 15 minutes walk! The breakfast is just so-so! There is no elevator, and it is too tiring to carry luggage! There is a small supermarket nearby. You can buy water and snacks! The price is cheap. There is a Chinese restaurant near this hotel, 10 minutes walk away! You can go and try Chinese food!

About a ten minute walk from the main square. The hotel is comfortable, modern. It adjoins a large shopping centre, there is also a 24 hour mini-mart next door too. Front desk staff all speak good English, however they are a little bit lacking in knowledge about transport options for getting to the airport etc. The floor tiles in my bathroom were broken and consequently the floor felt a bit unstable. Overall though I felt relaxed and comfortable during my stay.

1. Location: About 4km from Sukhabart Square (Statue of Chinggis Khan)
Within 1km from Narangtol Market.. 2km from E-Mart 3rd store
It is about 2.5km away from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, so there is severe traffic congestion.
Given the traffic conditions in downtown Ulaanbaatar, it might be a bit difficult, but on foot
It is located at a level where sightseeing is possible.. (It is not as good as the 5-star hotel Blue Sky or Shangri-La Hotel, but
I don't think it's bad for a mid-range hotel location)
2. Facilities: As with most mid-range hotels, the hotel's facilities are
It is slightly outdated, PUB on the 1st floor, and a pool and pool room on the 4th floor.
There is a light, and the pub on the first floor is used as a restaurant serving breakfast.
Yes.. Due to the hot water facility construction at the time of our stay
There was a limited supply of hot water only in the morning and evening.
There was a problem with the hot water shower due to rust, but the construction was completed
It is unknown whether..
3. Breakfast: some bread..vegetables like cucumbers and tomatoes..sausages..fried eggs
Simple breakfast menu such as boiled eggs.. Depending on the number of guests
Served buffet style or as a menu selection
Breakfast time starts from 8:00 to 8:30 in the morning and lasts about an hour.
4. Service: Reception staff are all friendly and communicate in English
There are people who can speak Korean, but they will soon return to Korea.
Since you said you are going in, will you be able to communicate in Korean in the future?
unknown
5. Surrounding environment: There are Lotteria kfc Pizza Hut and Korean restaurants nearby.
Opposite the hotel is the central mall, supermarket and local
Fast food restaurants (like Korea's Gimbap Heaven?) and traditional markets
There is a Narangtol market (it is a fairly large market and sells various products such as clothing, tableware, stationery, etc.)

The hotel is located in the city center, 2 kilometers away from Genghis Khan Square. There is a big supermarket nearby, and Lanzhou ramen, Korean products, etc. are available for eating, so it is quite convenient. The breakfast is quite simple, and it seems that not many people go there to eat!

GGuest UserThis is a capsule hotel perfect for solo travelers. The reception doesn't speak much English, but it wasn't a problem since I didn't need to communicate. It was very clean and the showers had hot water. The breakfast was also pretty good. An older lady spoke to me in Japanese, saying ”Good morning! Breakfast!!” The capsules have an auto-lock and there's no place to hide, so it's safe even for women traveling alone. I didn't feel particularly scared. The location is about a 30-minute walk from the center. It's not impossible to get around on foot, but I recommend taking a taxi. It's close to Narantuul Market.
CCaptain KenZaya is an excellent place to stay in Ulaanbaatar! The facilities are complete (including a fully equipped kitchen), modern, clean, quiet. Everything is maintained and functions well (hot water, heating, lights, etc.) The owners are helpful and friendly. The location is great - walking distance to many museums and other city sights, as well as markets, stores and restaurants.
The Trip location map is accurate, and once getting to the building, you need to find the access door to the 3rd floor (where the Zaya office is located), which is to the right and the back of ”Urban Beats” (see my photos). Also, the entrance has an electronic lock requiring a code or key to enter (as does the entrance door on the 3rd floor). If you did not get the entrance instructions by email (we did not), you should contact the owner via the number provided by Trip. This is also the owner's WhatsApp number.
We enjoyed our time at Zaya and intend to stay again after our foray into the Mongolian outback.
We highly recommend Zaya Hostel.
GGuest UserVery decent hotel. Only issue is they do not turn on the central aircon for heating and only depend on the heater, which can be quite cold sometimes during this period of time.
Suggestion to the hotel, get your hotel listed on UB cab so that the service can locate your hotel! It's s shame your hotel couldn't be located on the app!
EenenzheCentral location, decent bar on the 25th floor. Breakfast was sufficient. Bathroom lighting can't be adjusted resulting in a very bright environment
DDENNIS KOK KEE NGI stayed there over 7 nights. On the first day I arrived at 12 noon and the check-in time was 2.00 pm. After a 13 hour flight and car ride from the airport to the hotel I just wanted to get into the room and have a hot shower. Usually in all other cities and hotels in Asia, they would have allowed me to check in earlier if they had a room. In this case, they had a room but wanted to charge me the rate of 30% for that two hour stay. I paid for it as I was in no mood to argue over it and as my Mongolian business partners were with me and I did not want to cause a scene.
The hotel toilet had a smell from the drainage pipe and they could not clear the smell even after I had complained. The service staff was generally pleasant although some of the restaurant staff need some further training. At the Chinese restaurant when I asked one of the waiter to change to a private room after being seated at the normal dining hall which was noisy, the waiter replied that he was busy. And asked me to go to the reception. Perhaps they are still a bit rough at the edges.
Also, the 24 hour room service does not exist as is promoted in their brochure in the room. I had to go to the front desk and then I was directed to go to the coffee house to make my order. I asked why nobody picked up the 24 hour room service line and the front desk asked me what number I dialed. I replied 3222 as was in the brochure in the room and he told me it was 3150. I told him its 3222 as per the room brochure but he insisted it was 3150. I went back to my room to double check after placing the order at the coffee house and it was 3222 in the brochure. So either they have a wrong print or they have not updated with a new number.
I was seated in the cafe many times and I noticed a gentleman who would go up to sign for a coffee at the cafe. I assumed he must be a senior staff of the hotel. If he was indeed a senior staff I thought he would be friendly enough to smile to the guests at the cafe and assume some if not all the guests are also guests of the hotel.
CCarlos IVGood side:
Location is the best, is just opposite of the sukhbaatar square. Near shopping malls.
Staffs are helpful and nice.
Bathroom and toilet space is huge. There is a separate for shower and bath tub.
Downside:
- hotel rooms looks old, got yellow marks or mould marks on the surface of the ceiling, quite weird as the room is non-smoking room. Also got yellow marks on the toilet bowl 😭
- the electric outlet for phone charging on the headboard is not working well. When I reported this to hotel staff, they provider me with an extension cord 😓
- curtains and blinders seems dusty and old.
GGuest UserThe first choice when visiting Mongolia, the price-performance ratio is very high, you can walk to the tourist attractions and see the sights while walking, but the price and content of breakfast are ridiculously expensive. There is a convenience store downstairs, which is very convenient.
DDeborahI usually hold off before posting these things but I'm hot and irritable so here it is and you can sort through it if you want to know details.
The air conditioner was broken in my room and he seemed to be saying that in all the rooms they were broken in some way. Either blowing air but it wasn't cold or cold but hardly blowing and besides he couldn't change my room. So while I'm doing the review, you can't get hot water in the shower. It gets briefly almost there and then cools. So no way to take a long shower or a hot bath. There is a lamp but it's unplugged. Because there is only two outlets next to each other in one place. When I unplugged The TV etc and plugged in the cute lamp it turned out the lamp flashes briefly and then doesn't work. The bulb? Oh, and then Wi-Fi stopped working and said it was start again when network quality improved. And someone had made noodles in the hot pot and it was partially scrubbed but not completely so my tea (not provided) tasted faintly of chicken soup. Other than Wi-Fi, hot water (drinking and bath) and air conditioning it was quaint and nice. Bathrobes and monogram towels. A down duvet in down pillows. In the mattress you can kind of feel the springs but they seem to have the same mattress everywhere from the hotels down to hostels so I don't know that good ones are available. And everything was clean including the carpet but did smell a little of smoke. So it's kind of like a four-star hotel and in some ways the same as a cheap guest house. And inexpensive by American standards. So even though it costs double or more then the guest houses it still cost less than a Motel 6. The best thing is you can walk to the Palace of the Dohg Khan, restaurants, grocery stores, etc and it is a place where, as my cab driver ”people in Ulaabatar live, not a tourist place”. And easy to get to because you don't have to fully enter city traffic. And I had a lively view of the real life going on from my seventh story window.
PPENGCHANGThe location is not too far from the city center, there is breakfast, from 7:00 to 11:00, it is not bad, there are juice, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, the place is full of beef and mutton in Ulaanbaatar, there is a swimming pool
HHolliDON’T BE TRICKED LIKE I WAS
The listing says it is a 6 minute drive from Chinggis Khan airport, but it in fact is a 30 minute drive. It is very close to the OLD airport which is not in use anymore. They offer free airport pickup, but we stayed the night before our flight so we did not need pickup, we needed drop off. Even though we didn’t use the free pickup service, we still had to pay $25 USD for airport dropoff. I had emailed the property twice during the week leading up to our stay to ask about drop off service and never got a reply. Also, there is a lack of communication between the staff- When we arrived at the property we had to call 3 times before they finally came to meet us to get our bags, then there was confusion about what room we were supposed to get and we were taken to 3 different rooms before it was the right one. The second one we had already settled in and had a shower before they came and told us it was the wrong room. We didn’t have a car so we walked around the area to find food and there were little to no restaurants, and only a couple of very small markets, so we ended up having to order food from the property restaurant. Every room is different as we discovered from being taken to 3 different rooms. They are verrrry spacious but some are definitely in better condition than others. Fortunately our final room was the best, however there was a kitchen stocked with pots, pans, rice cooker, cook top, plates, but no silverware, no microwave, and no refrigerator. Why would you have a kitchen area and not have a refrigerator and silverware? There also was a washer in unit but no dryer. We didn’t have time to wait for our clothes to air dry during our one night stay so that was also useless.
Overall, it was a cheap stay but you get what you pay for.
