Very basic accommodation. We had a family room with 2 sets of bunk beds. The room was very tight without a lot of storage for our bags. We had a sink in the room. The beds were comfy and the hostel was quiet so we slept well. The Hostel does not have a kitchen space or a large common space so the community feel of a hostel is non-existent. Centrally located so we had an easy time exploring. We really just slept and showered here and for that, the place was fine. Cool vintage maritime vibe but definitely run down and could use a paint job and deep clean to freshen the place up. Reception was super kind and helpful.

Terrible hostel which calls itself a hotel. My booking with hostelworld was for a twin room with 2 beds, however the room was actually just a bunkbed. When I asked to change to a twin room as originally sold to me, I had to pay extra to change. The staff were also not accommodating in letting me leave my baggage securely in my original room before transferring to my new room. Instead I had to leave it in the corridor before the reception staff arrived in the morning to take it into the reception. The staff did leave my baggage in the new room, however they did not contact me to tell me this as the reception shut early that day. I managed to find a junk email from the original booking about a code for a key box and found a key to the new room, no thanks to the staff. Aside from that, the wifi just didn’t work, the room were pretty bleak and dirty. It is also very noisy from the surrounding roads. It’s located centrally but right in front of a small park area that has an abundance of drug abusers and homeless people. It’s doesn’t feel very secure as a building as well.

This is an old hotel/hostel with very basic facilities. The rooms and common areas are extremely dark and kitchen facilities minimum. The rooms are pricey for what they are and the least expensive room will put you directly next to the toilets. I upgraded to a room where the Wi-Fi didn't work and was told it was only guaranteed to work in the common area. The best thing about this place is the location and ability to store luggage but I did not enjoy my stay here.

This is a small hotel on Richards St. It is an ok hotel for an emergency booking. It is an old historic building dating to 1911? It has an steep stairs at the entrance. It has a secure door way that you need a code. The dek lady was friendly. The hotel is expensive for what you get. The rooms arre basic. There was a sink in my room... Toilets were down the hall. Its close to some good restaurants around the corner. Public transit is a couple minutes walk away.

We had a particularly bad stay but, even if things didn't go wrong I would still avoid this hostel at all costs! The room was stuffy and there was no screen on the window, just a small fan. The bed made awful noises every time you moved. There was no friendly atmosphere at all especially since the common areas felt like closets. Although the hostel was in a historic building the decorations were not very nice and the furniture was haphazardly picked. The room had two outlets strangely placed. The worst part of the hostel was that we emailed and called to let them know we had a late check in. They forgot to leave us out a key so we had to try to find a new place to stay at midnight. They were not apologetic. Their reception had terrible hours and no way to reach them if something went wrong. Avoid if you can!

Where to begin? I have stayed in many hostel’s, but this hostel has put me off ever staying in one again. IT’s THE WORSE HOSTEL EVER. Looking at previous reviews I’m surprised the business is even still running? Mice running around your name it. I will start with our experience. So 3 days before check in they messaged me on *********** the code to get in the front door. When we arrived someone was working so they let us in and checked us in -NEVER mentioned the code they sent me was the old code. We went out for dinner that night arrived back at the hostel at 12am was trying to put in the code they sent me on *********** but it was not working. I tried ringing them but no answer. I banged on the door and rang the doorbell hoping someone would hear us but no. There was homeless people lying around us high on *****. We saw a hotel across the road called hotel Canada we said we don’t have a choice only to check into a hotel at this stage as 3 hours have passed. It turns out that was not a hotel but a homeless shelter so we could not stay there. A homeless person who saw us locked out told us there is another hotel across from 7/11 so we tried there 700 dollars for the night- which was way out of our budget. It was 3.30am at this stage, the people in the hostel only work 8.30-5.30 (that’s what they say but this is untrue). So it was only 5 hours left until we could get inside we said we would wait. Every now and again I would bang and ring the door bell- finally someone answers the door after us waiting on the street for 4 hours. This girl works here but was asleep, I asked about the code she told they changed it MONTHS ago. This was our first night here we were very unhappy she told us to speak to her manager in the morning that she would be there at 9.30, but we had whale watching early that morning did not get to meet her. So the second day we went whale watching- turns out we lost our bedroom key on the boat. Which is completely our own fault. But as mentioned above they only work in the hostel 8.30-5.30 so when we got back we had no one to contact as they do not have emergency contact number- when you ring it just rings the reception with no one in it. We had to sleep on the floor in a quiet area in the hostel as we couldn’t get into our bedroom. The cleaner the next morning at 8.30 let us in and charged us 10dollars because we lost the key- which is fair enough. Our final day in the hostel we checked out at 10 but our flight was 5 so I asked reception could we leave our bags there and we will collect them at 2pm. She said that was perfect and if no one is in reception have a look around they probably cleaning. Went to the desk at 2pm a big sign saying they won’t be back until 3pm. We searched the hostel for someone- no one was around. So even though they say they work 8.30-5.30pm they do not. So to sum it all up we paid for 4 nights in the hostel but only slept in our room for 2 out of the 4 nights they did not even apologies to us. They ha
