Safari Plains

The accommodation is perfect. Food was excellent. All staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It was so easy to get up at five in the morning as the drives were interesting and fun. Our safari guide,Peu, was just the best. He was very knowledgable and put our safety first. We always felt safe and trusted everything he said. He knew when animals were relaxed or anxious and didn’t put us in any danger. We learnt a lot about animal behaviour, plants and conservation. He always asked the group what they wanted to see on each drive and worked really hard to give us what we wanted. It was a lot of fun. Thank you everyone at Safari Plains for the best and most unforgettable experience

Fantastic place. Had an amazing time. Great accommodation. Staff very friendly and welcoming. A good selection of food. Peu was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We could not have wished for a better guide. Would highly recommend!!

Very very good hotel. Everything was perfect for start to end. The food was amazing and the safari was just extraordinary. If you wish to relax, you can take a nap by the swimming pool.

Enjoyed our stay, expecially the friendly and helpful staff. Some of the facilities are showing wear and tear though.

The quality of service and accommodation is excellent and the safari drives are with guides who are very knowledgeable on the animals, plants and environment. The drives are a shared experience for the whole group (including the guides).

What an amazing week we had. The accommodation is top notch and has all the home comforts you could want. And a verandah where we could sit and watch the sunset. The staff in the main building looked after all of our tour group, both young and old, so well and were very friendly. The drives were fantastic. This is about far more than just spotting the big 5, there is always so much to see. Our guide Matimbe was brilliant, so knowledgeable about the animals and the flora and trees. A stop for coffee or sundowner, depending on time of day, was always included and he made sure there was a stepladder for those of us with short legs to help us get in and out of the vehicles (that were very comfortable) as well as lovely warm fleecy ponchos for chilly mornings (it soon warmed up once the sun came up). The site has a small (unheated) swimming pool.and we enjoyed down time on loungers or chairs by it. As we did this it was a bonus was to see giraffes wandering by, nayala gazing on site and also witnessing the red hornbill birds pecking the grass. By the spa area we also saw red weaver birds building their nests that hang from branches. Bear in mind at the moment the transfer from Johannesburg airport will likely to be considerably longer than 2 hours: there are major road construction works and between Bela Bela and Safari Plains there are 3 sets of traffic lights where the average waiting time at each is 15 minutes. Which we found to be accurate! But don't let it put you off, this is an exceptional place to stay.
