I will start with my mom was here many years ago and we were excited to come here as a family to spend some time at Holidays. It was not the experience my mother remembered from her past visit. The place is beautiful but did see some areas in need of repair ceilings and such. The staff was all amazing, kind and helpful. They did seem to be very short staffed however. We traveled with our 2 younger children and lunch options and dinner options were very limited. Breakfast was as well with the exception of main dining there is only coffee shop which always had a long line. One family member was sick after eating at the golf course the first night and had difficulty getting anything from room service that ws lite and all we could find was tomato bisque for dinner for her no chicken broth or soup to be found. We did the bunker tour with Frank who ws very knowledgeable and kind and friendly we enjoyed that. We really enjoyed the escape rooms with Gamemaster Mike he was alot of fun, we highly recommend both activities. We did the indoor history tour again very enjoyable. We tried twice to see the president's cottage. We were told by concierge it was open 12-4 as it is listed on website. Both days we could go it was closed and concierge did not know till another couple we ere with told them. We were not able to see it at all during our stay. The kids wanted pizza for lunch and there is supposedly a 24 hour pizza place that again we were told by concierge and by website it was open but it ws dark and doors locked the whole time we were there. The one lunch place had 2 hour weight for lunch and coffeehouse has super limited options so my kids actually did not get lunch the one day because they ate at the coffeehouse the day before and did not want the same thing again. pimento cheese was spicy which in not great for kids. Pool was nice except there were 3 lifeguards all sitting together in the center talking barely watching the pool, hope nothing happens on their watch. Ice skating was great! Bowling and arcade was alot of fun. Tea was insane people grabbing cookies like it is black friday.. maybe they were hungry from no lunch. The bar was nice and we ate there the last night but we had to sit in the lattice room(white room between ballroom and bar area) and a photographer came in and started setting up and taking pictures so the flash was unpleasant but it is extremely hard to find a place to sit and you can only order food if you have a table. So frustrating. Pizza and burgers at bar were really good. Service was good but be prepared to wait there was only 2 cocktail waitresses for all 3 huge rooms and 2 bartenders, way inderstaffed but they did well considering. We had reservations at Forum one night it was the best we had really while we were there. Breakfast in main dining ws great and service ws amazing. Bellhops, Valet everyone were wonderful. From talking to other guests we understand it has gone quite downhill in recent years. Rumors of owner

They said no to everything I requested. Just check out the photo attached to this review. It will tell you everything you need to know about this once relevant hotel. It’s glory days are gone and I don’t recommend Anyone to stay here at their exorbitant rates.

Love every detail of the Greenbrier from the grand entrance to the beautifully decorated Christmas decor. Enjoyed afternoon tea by the fireplace listening to the gentlemen playing Christmas music. Enjoyed the coziness of our fireplace in the Virginia Room and the comfort of our room in the Windsor Suite. Hospitality, Comfort & Elegance in the beauty of the mountains.

We were at the Greenbrier for the Greenbrier Classic basketball event. Our room, 1022, was tired at best. The carpet needs replaced as do two of the sitting chairs. The housekeeping was impeccable. Our dining experience differed depending on the venue and meal. The breakfast buffet was spectacular. Two meals at Drapers were just OK as were two meals at the lobby bar. Service at Drapers was perfect; not so much at the lobby bar. The basketball venue was beyond cool; basketball in a ballroom. I asked to speak to the manager on duty when we checked out; was told one was not available. I completed the email survey that they sent, expressing my observations and concerns giving my phone number and reaffirming my email address. Ten days later I called the Greenbrier and spoke with Eliza who gave me the usual boilerplate responses. She did not seem interested and could not tell me why no one followed up on my survey responses. I expect better from the Greenbrier, “America’s Resort.”

This is a MUST DO destination!!! We stayed the night while visiting the Shenandoah and New River Gorge National Parks. Great location between both! I loved the decor, staff, bunker tour, falconry experience, restaurants, ******, ice cream, comfort of the bedrooms and amazing history! It’s so beautiful but also so comfortable. So many places to sit and relax, enjoy the fireplaces, play checkers, have afternoon tea, cocktails and take in the beauty. The resort was decorated for the holidays and it was magical!!!

My company rewarded our team for our recent success with a couple of days at the Greenbrier. I’ve always wanted to come here and it did not disappoint. The grounds are stunning. I was slightly disappointed the leaves had peaked but was thrilled to see the famous Christmas decorations in place. The complex is astounding; it pretty much offers something for everyone. Beautiful golf course, spa, hiking trails, shops, bowling, indoor and outdoor pool, arcade, sports venues, bikes etc. There are multiple on site restaurants. I’m grateful I didn’t have to pay but I’m so happy we had this get away. The one thing that really stands out is every employee I encountered is super friendly. Multiple generations of families work here; they seemingly take pride in the work. The decor is iconic, though maybe starting to show some signs of age. But visiting here was an utter delight, like a weekend on set in a Hallmark movie. Do take the bunker tour if you’re interested in history.

My stay at The Greenbrier was excellent from arrival to departure. The elegance of the entire facility and Southern hospitality made for a very special time. I enjoyed the beautiful room decor of Dorothy Draper being very spacious and cheerful. The two In-room breakfasts was a treat and like fine dining without getting dressed for the restaurant. The waiters bringing it were very hospitable. The spa pkg. was also a special treat. Dining at the Main Dining Room, Prime 44 West, The Forum and Drapers Cafe were all outstanding. I would highly recommend a stay at the Greenbrier. This was my second visit since 25 years ago and it was not disappointing!

The building was pretty amazing from outside and the scenery great. Inside, things were rather badly overdecorated, while the rooms were barely modernized 1950s hotel rooms. They weren't *bad*, but they were not remotely worth the money. The food, while good, was grossly overpriced.

Came back for our 50th and were amazed at the quality, friendliness, and all round gracious atmosphere pervading the whole Resort. The steak in the Main Dining Room was incredibly good! We've decided to celebrate every anniversary there from now on!
