We have just returned from an excellent 4 nights stay at this hotel and can't fault it. We were greeted warmly by Rebecca and given a room just up stairs from reception. It had two single comfortable beds, tea and coffee making facilities and a nice bathroom with shower over the bath. Hot water was plentiful in the mornings and the towels were large and fluffy . Breakfast had lots of choice from juice, cereal, toast and a full English breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Parking is free in the grounds. The area is quiet, but there is a shopping area about 5 minutes away with supermarkets and fast food outlets. The journey into town was about 10 minutes - although we regularly took the wrong turns round the one way system, so took us a little longer. There are numerous car parks round the harbour.

Stayed here whilst viewing properties to move to in Whitehaven. Excellent stay, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and bed all lovely and clean. Food cooked so well best roast dinners ever had in a restaurant definitely home cooked. Will definitely call in when I move to the area soon. Thanks for all the area advice too x

Great venue for family get together. Good food, comfortable room. Super staff. Very good breakfast. Very well placed to explore Whitehaven and the Western Lake District. We have stayed here before and will again. Nice to see a hotel with ample car parking. We had an accessible room although we didn't ask for one.

Arrived before our official check in time however the staff were terrific in letting us in early. Building and grounds were neat and tidy with an outdoor seating area located next to the bar and dining room. Nice size room and ensuite with a comfortable double bed. Excellent home cooked breakfast, with excellent service.

Lovely hotel in an ideal location. We had some transport issues and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in resolving these. Decided to eat in the restaurant and the food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Can’t fault this place. Had a meal both nights which was exceptional (and I’m fussy) Breakfast was faultless. Staff were so friendly which gave it a good atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble. Very clean with a modern bar. Would 100% recommend.

The christmas dinner was one of the best we've EVER had. Soup was gorgeous and the christmas dinner was also very delicious, pudding was to die for. We will definitely be back here. Service was second to none, really lovely staff too. Wonderful experience, 10/10 😀

Excellent and friendly staff who work together well. Good range offered for breakfast and a selection for dinners. This would be an ideal base to see the Orange Waters of Whitehaven harbour. Promise, you won't see this in many places around the world! It only began a few months ago (apparently) and is a well kept secret. No one seems to be able to explain to me its origin, but I'd guess acid mine drainage from the former coal mining.
