We rode an electric tricycle driven by the boss himself up the river to Laiyan Hall (there were indeed swallows nesting on the beams in the lobby). As soon as we entered the door, the beautiful smile of the landlady confirmed the comments of netizens. The woman born in the 1960s with a childlike face spoke softly and decently, and smiled. She looks like a spotless Jiangnan girl. After tasting this year’s new tea, customized low-sugar black sesame cakes and freshly picked persimmons, the proprietress took us to visit her happy courtyard after a short rest. The entire B&B is based on Huizhou ancient architecture. Under the planning of the photographer owner, it was built into its current appearance in accordance with the purpose of restoring the old as it was and to the standards of self-occupation. When you open the door to the room, there is a faint scent of logs. The room is clean and tidy, and no hygienic dead spots are found. In the evening, I walked along the stream to the village. When I came back, I listened to the boss and his wife telling some interesting things in the hall. Finally, I returned to the room with unfinished emotions and slept beautifully all night listening to the faint sound of the stream. Get up early and go for a walk by the stream. When you come back, a rich breakfast is ready, including white rice porridge, pumpkin porridge, black rice porridge, pork buns with pickles and vegetables (the boss lady selects buns with various fillings, which are changed daily), fermented rice cakes, Fried dough sticks, sweet potatoes, corn, tea eggs, Malantou mixed with dried fragrant vegetables, and various pickles...we all like them and feel comfortable eating them. Time is so rushed that I don’t have enough time. I really want to come back in the summer to wade in the stream and fish. Come back in autumn to pick persimmons and enjoy ginkgo trees.

In the small courtyard, there is a wooden pavilion designed by the boss himself. The greenhouse is full of succulents and antiques collected by the boss can be seen everywhere. It is very comfortable to sit in the pavilion and drink tea and chat. The boss and his wife are very nice. We had a baby with us on this trip. As soon as we got back to the B&B, they cut fruits and washed tomatoes, which was very considerate.

As soon as you enter the yard, you feel like you have returned to your own home❤️ When the aunt introduces the yard building, she is as proud as introducing her own children. I can really feel the uncle and aunt's care for their yard. There are many B&Bs in Hongcun, but most of them feel like fast food. This one makes people feel very cultural and not impatient. Auntie also gave us a lot of travel advice. The meals are great too!
