We had a great stay at the hotel for the most part. The facilities were high end, the design of the hotel was beautiful, and the staff, especially the receptionists and cleaning staff, were warm and welcoming. We really appreciated the friendliness and overall atmosphere during the first days.
However, a situation towards the end of our stay left us deeply disappointed. We inquired in advance about doing laundry and were told that it would be free of charge. We were simply asked to “sign here” without being given any information about potential costs, and we felt pressured to agree without clarity.
The next day, we were shocked to receive a bill of 910 yuan, a price that was even higher than a night’s stay at the hotel. We felt completely misled and tried to raise the issue with the staff. Unfortunately, we were met with little understanding or flexibility. We asked to speak with the manager, but were told to come back the next day. This turned our final evening, which we had hoped would be a relaxing end to our trip in China, into a stressful experience.
The next morning, the manager still refused to meet us, sending another staff member instead. We were taken to a separate room to “negotiate,” which felt very uncomfortable. The tone was condescending, and we were told that these kinds of prices were standard for five star hotels. When we offered a price we were willing to pay, it was immediately rejected. Instead, we were offered small souvenir figurines or coffee as compensation, which was not what we were looking for. Eventually, we were given a 30% discount discount, and the staff member implied that this was an extremely generous gesture, but for us, the core issue was never the price, it was the lack of clear communication and the poor way the situation was handled.
No guest at a five star hotel should be made to feel this way. What started as a great experience was unfortunately overshadowed by this incident. We truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, as we cannot recommend this hotel based on how this issue was managed.
