Located right within the ancient town, adjacent to the Eight Banners Guild Hall and very close to Simatai Great Wall. However, getting around is quite convenient thanks to the shuttle bus service.
The rooms possess an antique charm, perfectly aligning with the ancient town's unique character. From the window, you can witness the winding Great Wall, a truly expansive and spectacular view.
Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied, with options like coffee, noodles, and wontons available for advance order, all complimentary. Highly recommended!

This inn is located in the ancient town, and its location is excellent, right by Wangjing Street. It's quiet despite being in a bustling area, and the room is very comfortable. There's a tatami mat by the window for scenic views.
It's convenient to walk everywhere from here, and you can also go hike the Gubeikou Great Wall.
There are also many local snacks nearby.
The room was very clean and bright, which put me in a great mood. It's perfect for those of us who have visited Beijing multiple times and want to experience the beauty of the hutongs and some hidden gems. You step right out and there's a beautiful view.

Basic amenities well provided for, no refrigerator. Is a cozy place to stay; however if you are traveling with individuals who require more assistance with mobility, might not be the best. Steps and kerbs to enter the inn itself. Breakfast is on lower level only accessible via steps (no elevator).
The staff was kind enough to arrange for a room on the 1st floor for grandparents which was nice. So only time they had to go take the steps was for breakfast.
Location is right in the “prime area” of the Watertown.

Good base for climbing the Simatai Great Wall - easy walk over to the trailhead in the morning. Also smack in the middle of the attractions, with short walks to the fountain show, drone show, and a boat ride pier. The place is themed as a traditional style guesthouse, and so the decor and layout may seem a little dated and rustic - but that might be part of the charm depending on how you look at it. They have their own in-house coffeehouse and restaurant, but there are also a lot of other food options around the vicinity depending on how far you're willing to walk. It's a little far from the town entrance, but the free luggage forwarding service will take your luggage straight to the premises for you. That said, because the rooms are spread around a fairly large compound, you may still need to carry your luggage a short walk - possibly including a bit of stairs - between the reception area and your room.
We also got a discount ticket for hot springs - a facility of which is also nearby.

It was a little hard to find for someone who doesn't read Chinese characters well. I don't think the staff speaks English, I at least spoke Mandarin to them. But they were super friendly. Room was nice for the price. The breakfast was a little underwhelming but you can get freshly made egg dishes which is a plus. And eating next to the river was also a very pleasant experience (just make sure you bring or ask for bug spray).

Location : near Simatai entrance and fountain show but far from entrance. However, you can take shuttle car or walk to there.
Room : they have all facilties including heater. but they dont have slipper in the room.
Breakfast : They have some buffet dish/toast plus made to order to choose from such as eggs/bacon/sausages/wanton/noodle. So breakfast is enough and OK
Staff : Helpful and friendly but we have to communicate via translator.
Room photos are same as shown in the website.
Overall is a good stay.

The inn is inside the scenic area, not too far from the gate of the scenic area. This inn is very convenient. You can put down your luggage first, and then go out to play and take the shuttle bus to get there. There is no problem with the sanitation environment. It is also very close to the Sun Moon Island Square, which is very convenient for resting after watching the performance at night.

AAnonymous UserStayed for 2 nights in Oct 2024, planned for 1 night to visit around the town itself and another night for the Simatai Great Wall.
1. Location - Inn is located within Gubei Watertown and it is necessary to go through the watertown to visit the Simatai Great Wall. By booking an accommodation within the town gives you discounted entrance price into the town and since we planned to visit the great wall and explore the town itself we have decided to stay for 2 nights (also partly the cost and time to travel there from Beijing). Inn is located near the main square where some performances are held and near a shuttle service stop (free shuttle services within town if you’re staying in an accommodation within town. Overall a good location within town.
2. Room - Booked a family room for 4 (2 single beds in each level). Room is mostly made of wood hence its not really a modern feel and its not really sound-proof which the staff has notified in advance. Room is spacious and bathroom is big. Stairs that goes up to the 2nd level is stable but can be a little steep for seniors. Overall the room is decent. It comes with tomatoes, peanuts and tea as welcome gift.
3. Luggage - There’s a luggage service whereby you can arrange for your luggage to be transported to your hotel from entrance, and from hotel back to entrance. This is definitely needed as the ground in the watertown is not a smooth surface and can be hard to carry your luggages around.
4. Services & breakfast - Staff’s services is really good and efficient! Breakfast is simple but has good variety. There’s the buffet portion which consists of small dishes for porridge, bread, bun, drinks etc. And there’s an alacarte portion where you need to order in advance the night before such as bacon, egg, sausages, noodles etc. i think its a good initiative to avoid wastage.
Overall a very good stay and would recommend if you are visiting Gubei Watertown and would like to stay in a more traditional feel.

AAnonymous UserI booked the place after seeing good reviews from XHS and on this site. We were met with not the lady boss on day of arrival but a grouchy man with curt instructions. And no assistance was given to help us carry our luggage to the 3rd floor. Lucky, it was a single luggage. So both my sis and I were able to do it on our own.
The room itself is clean but very basic with no place to hang our clothes though hangars are provided. As we were only staying for one night, it was ok. Towels are provided with shower gel and shampoo. The hotel location is good/central as it is near the Sun Moon Plaza. Did not get to see the drone show as there were thunderstorms that night.
We were glad when we met the lady boss the next morning. Very warm and friendly personality. She also helped us with arranging our luggage pickup by the service centre. Breakfast was mainly Asian with also bread, porridge and the small dishes cooked on order by the lady boss were tasty. The homemade soya milk was great too.
Overall, i think the hotels in Gubei Watertown are overpriced with such basic room amenities. I paid nearly the same rate for a 5star hotel in Beijing with much bigger room with better room facilities/service. Suggest to go for day trip if possible. But if you want to go for overnight stay and climb Simatai the next day, suggest to stay inside the scenic area so you pay half the price and enjoy flexibility to move within the scenic area anytime.

TTrip5321Have long been a fan of the Orchid and often visit the restaurants co located there - Toast and TBS are favourites. As such, with family visiting the Orchid was the obvious choice!
An amazing location tucked in the Hutongs near the Bell and Drum towers. Both in the surrounding area and venue itself, spoilt for choice for food and restaurants. Room was cosy, clean and beautifully decorated. Two very friendly cats too. Staff genuinely fantastic and went above and beyond throughout our time there - thank you!
The only fault - and reason for ranking amenities lower currently - is that there is significant work taking place at the reception (March 2025). I was aware of this having visited Toast in Feb however, had hoped this would’ve been completed by our stay and was disappointed at still being charged at the full rate given this disruption. In addition to a crowded check in / lack of communal space, this also meant rerouting through the restaurants (and up / down winding stairs), so one to note for anyone with accessibility requirements.
Nevertheless a great stay and hope to be back again soon!
GGuest UserThis *siheyuan* has a wonderful, authentic charm. The courtyard is full of beautiful plants, and the little gourds growing there are just adorable! *Siheyuan* accommodations within Beijing's 2nd and 3rd Ring Roads are usually very expensive, so since I was planning to visit the Badaling Great Wall, this location was perfect. It's only about a ten-minute walk to both the Great Wall entrance and the high-speed rail station. You can order meals directly from the guesthouse, and it was so pleasant to enjoy them in the small pavilion within the courtyard. The room itself was very clean, and a nice touch was being able to air-dry laundry in the courtyard.

GGuest UserThe location was easy to find. It was quieter since it is situated a little away from the activities at the base. However it is at the entrance of the Great Wall tram gate, so very convenient for an early start, or an evening tour of the Wall. My stay was midweek over Christmas and the whole town was relatively quiet. This meant the Hot Springs were also quiet which was spectacular! The rooms were a little chilly at night, but a soak in the springs and a little peach blossom wine solved it. I highly recommend this Inn. They were happy to use their translation apps to answer any questions.

GGuest UserAn Excellent Hub for Business Travel and In-Depth Beijing Exploration!
Choosing the Milean Hotel for my business trip turned out to be an excellent decision, largely thanks to its strategic location which offered immense convenience and was a pleasant surprise. Situated in Sidaokou, the vibrant core of Zhongguancun, it's an absolute godsend for those of us who regularly interact with internet giants. Its proximity to client headquarters dramatically reduced commute times and costs, making business meetings exceptionally easy and efficient.
What's more, the transportation network here is incredibly comprehensive and simply perfect. Whether you're heading to Beijing North Station for high-speed rail or connecting at the Xizhimen transportation hub, both are just a short ride away, ensuring seamless transitions for your onward journey. For tourists keen on exploring the city, it also serves as an ideal base, offering easy access to Haidian District's many tech parks and prestigious universities.
After a busy day, the hotel's comfortable and quiet ambiance provided the perfect retreat. The professionalism and friendliness of the front desk staff also added a significant touch of warmth to my stay. It perfectly marries the efficiency required for business with the convenience sought by travelers. I highly recommend it to all business travelers and tourists looking to explore Beijing efficiently. This truly was an outstanding value-for-money stay!
