The area around Alleppey is particularly famous, with over 100 canals. A popular activity is cruising the backwaters in a rowboat 🚣♀️ Time passes slowly, so I'm glad I went ❤️ * ■1-day trip details Drive from Fort Kochi to the waterside area (departs at 8:00, 1 hour 15 minute drive) ↓ Get on the first boat at Murinjapuzha and cruise the larger canal 🚣 ↓ Stop by a village to see how coconut shells are processed into ropes 🥥 ↓ Lunch: Banana leaf curry meal 🍛 ↓ Change to a slightly smaller boat and cruise the narrower waterway 🛶 ↓ Tea time 🫖 ↓ Drive back to Fort Kochi (arrived after 4pm) ※We went to Murinjapuzha, which is closer to Kochi, not Alleppey. cruising on a houseboat on the backwaters at Alleppey is a must do experience when visiting. However be prepared for the many other boats doing the same! it’s like a motorway for boats, there are literally hundreds all taking the same route up and down the canals. speedboats fly past looking for joyriders, music and karaoke blasts from other boats . it’s not particularly peaceful! and then when it’s time to sleep the boat moors up right next to the town, not in the countryside. so in many ways the reality is disappointing although you can appreciate the beauty of the backwaters. #houseboat #backwaters

Cruise along the backwaters if you have time spend 2days/1night or 3days/2night just healing. That's the word healing. This place is so calm and serene that nothing else matters. Time pass by so slowly. Soak in the sun and get your own private house boat if you can afford. If you are tight on a budget there is also house boat for sharing. The food is full board so you dont have to worry. If you wanna fish go ahead or if you just wanna stop buy at a local market to buy things please do, the chef onboard is able to cook the food for you with local flavours. The chef and the boat captain are so kind....they will cater to you , remember politeness goes a long way. I really enjoyed my stay there and the boat captain manage to dock us at a spot with the most beautiful sunrise and sunset....I'm in awed....Will definitely come back here again.... #passionpassport

#Relaxing is the word for this #adventure. I was told to head over to the #Backwaters when in #Kerala and hop on a traditional #houseboat. Although slightly touristy, it was definitely enjoyable. After enduring the epic hassle of maneuvering through local traffic during my trip, the slow life on the quiet green canals were a welcome respite.
