It is used to commemorate the glorious achievements of Portugal in the Age of Exploration in the 15th century. It can be said to be the starting point of the Age of Exploration. The Monument to the Discoverers is shaped like a sail setting out to sea, with huge stone statues on the left and right wings, depicting famous navigators, navigators and missionaries of the Age of Discovery. There are a total of 32 statues of lifelike figures. Inside the monument is an exhibition room, with an entrance ticket costing €10. There are documentary screenings and a rooftop observation deck. Personally, I think it's okay. You can just take some photos outside and take some time to visit the Belem Tower and Jerónimo Monastery nearby. The function of Belém Tower has changed several times, from an initial defensive fortress to a prison for criminals, and now it is listed as a World Heritage Site, which has repeatedly demonstrated the importance of Portugal in the Age of Discovery. The first floor is the entrance to the battery, the basement is the prison cell, the second floor is an open platform, the third to fifth floors are internal rooms, there is a white carved balcony outside the third floor, and the top floor overlooks the entire port, with beautiful scenery. (6 euros, pay on site) - Alface Hall Jazz Bar / If I had to name the best place in Lisbon, it would probably be this jazz bar.. I went there every day during my two trips. - R. There's also a place where you can wash up, so you can get a tan and swim on the beach :) ✔️Recommended places: Praia da Rainha Beach, Pedra da Nau Cliff - Cabo da Roca: The land's end village of the Eurasian continent, Cabo da Roca! It's a 50 minute bus ride from Sintra & Cascais, so it's a good place to visit when you're traveling to Sintra or Cascais. It's the westernmost part of the continent, so it feels mysterious. The sea is also really pretty, so visit it when you travel to Lisbon! Lisbon is recommended for a leisurely trip, staying for 3 nights and 4 days at the shortest, or 5 nights and 6 days at the longest. It is a hip city with a different charm from Porto. I stayed in Lisbon for 3 days, including 2 full days and 2 half days. Although I didn't enjoy myself to the fullest, I have visited all the highlights. In summary, Lisbon is worth the money, with good food, fun and high cost performance‼ ️ Belem District: Jerónimos Monastery, Monument to the Discoverers, Belém Tower, and Belém Egg Tarts are must-visit spots. They are not far from each other and can be visited on foot. An afternoon is enough to visit them. Note⚠️The monastery is closed every Monday. We happened to be there on a Monday, so we could only take pictures outside. The building is very beautiful. Belem Tower is a good place to watch the sunset. Although the reviews of Belem egg tarts are mixed, I think they are delicious! I recommend experiencing the sunset sailing. It is really romantic to wait for the sunset on the sailing boat. The whole journey takes 1.5 hours, but don't go when it's cold. Loved my time at MAAT! The museum is composed of three main parts. The first is located in the old power plant (Tejo Power Station), the garden (which I didn't explore much), and the new building. Behind the building, there is a bridge leading to the street, connecting to nearby tram and bus stops, making it convenient to combine your visit with other major attractions in the Belém area, such as the Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, National Coach Museum, and the famous Pastéis de Belém. If you are staying in Lisbon for a few days, a visit to MAAT is highly recommended.

On a whim in April 2024, I decided to visit Portugal. I booked a flight and my first stop was Porto. After landing, I booked a ride online to pick me up. The driver was very nice and took me to my destination, a lovely Airbnb located next to the metro in the city center. The house was amazing and conveniently located. After dropping off my luggage, I went to the nearby São Bento Train Station to buy a ticket for the next day. The station was stunning, with familiar blue and white tiles on the walls, and I couldn't resist taking many photos. For dinner, I chose a spot next to the Luís I Bridge, where I enjoyed street performances while eating. The next day, I walked across the Luís I Bridge to visit the famous Porto wine cellars and taste the renowned Porto wine. It was a perfect day. On the third day, I headed to Lisbon. To be honest, although Lisbon is the capital, I preferred Porto. In Lisbon, I visited famous landmarks like the Belém Tower and took the iconic Tram 28. These sights can be covered in a day. I also spent a day visiting the nearby town of Sintra, known for Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where 'the land ends and the sea begins.'
