Another waterfall on the Bolaven Plateau is Tad Yuang Falls, often written Tad Gneuang. It is located 10 kilometers west of Paksong and two kilometers east of the Tad Fan Falls. The falls are smaller than Tad Fan and plunge 40 meters into a pool. Unlike Tad Fan, however, swimming in the pools above and below the falls is feasible, though caution should be exercised due to strong currents. At the top, middle, and bottom of the gorge, there is a trail with several lookouts. A picnic spot is located at the top of the falls, and a small coffee plantation may be explored nearby. Tad Tayik Suea is a large waterfall with a high cliff. Surrounded by colorful flowers, the rainbow that falls when the sunlight shines makes this place look very natural. When I went, it was in January, which was past the rainy season. So the waterfall might not be very strong, just right. But there were some flowers, not blooming as much as in the rainy season, but it was okay. There were still enough flowers to see. The pictures came out beautiful. The way to get there is a bit difficult, lol. This waterfall is about 40 kilometers from Pak Song city. At that time, my friends and I rented a motorbike. We drove until our backs were bent. We used Google Maps to navigate. It took us on a red dirt road, which was very far. And the red dirt was dusty. There were ups and downs, which was very difficult to drive. We fell and our heads hit the dirt, lol. But after falling, it was very soft. It took almost an hour from the main road to the park office because we got lost on the red dirt hills. I have to say that at that time, it was like being on Mars. The road was red dirt. There was only grass around. There were no cars passing by. Until I found a village and asked him, I found out that we took a difficult road to drive. Hmm, thank you. 🤨 After leaving the red soil, I arrived at the park office. My body was very red and dusty. I met an officer who told me that I had to walk in. There were some dirt hills and dirt stairs along the way. My friends complained the whole way because their knees couldn't take it anymore. LOL. Smelling salts are a must-have item. It took about 30 minutes to get there. When I saw the waterfall view in front of me, I felt less tired. On the way back, I asked the officer for directions. I took another way back, but I couldn't escape the red soil. Luckily, it was a flat road, so it wasn't as difficult to drive as the way I came. It was also a road with houses around it, but it was still quite far. At that time, I felt like I had been driving for a long time but hadn't reached the main road yet. There's a nice little trail that leads to different viewpoints, so you can check it out from the top or get closer to the bottom where there’s a great swimming spot. It’s not too crowded either, which makes the whole vibe extra peaceful. If you’re into nature, waterfalls, or just want a break from the heat, this spot is a must-visit!

#favouriteitinerary It takes 2h to go around Vat Phou slowly. 50.000kip entrance which gives you access to the museum too. Open from 8am to 5pm. Not so far you can also discover the Vat Muang Kang. Also Don Daeng Island has a 15km loop enjoyable by foot or bicycle. Don't be afraid to climb all the way to the top! There is more to this site than what initially meets the eye. After roaming the main temple grounds, you will see a pathway to a plush tree, and to the right or left there are stairs that take you up another level, from there you will see even steeper stairs that take you to an Indiana Jones style temple. I am afraid of unprotected heights and was intimidated at first but just take it slow going up and down, don't be afraid to use all four limbs to make you comfortable scaling the stairs. Once to the top, there is also a beautiful stone garden to the right, as well as amazing views- and mountain goats! Absolutely worth every kip, and the extra effort to get to the top was so rewarding. Many nice restaurants in Champasak as Homemade, Soum Noum, Champasak with Love and more. 15$ for a room with balcony and river view. Champasak is an opportunity to slow down and Vat Phou is a beautiful symbol for that.
