The castle located right by the sea was built by Skanderbeg around 1450 - 1452, in order to have a faster exit to the Adriatic in case of an Ottoman conquest. According to a treaty signed on February 4, 1462, in case of war with the Turks Ragusa would help Skenderbeu with its fleet that would be sent exactly to Rodon. According to Barletti's manuscripts, this castle existed until 1467, before the Turks came and destroyed it. The Venetians rebuilt the castle after 1500, and this has enabled it to arrive to this day in fairly good condition. | Durrës. It is very easy to get from Albania’s capital Tirana to Durrës, the second largest city. The transportation guide is as follows: The bus from Tirana to Durrës departs from the South and North Albania Bus Terminal in Tirana and runs every half hour. The fare is 180 lek (buy the ticket after getting on the bus) and the journey takes about 40 minutes. The return journey departs from the Central Bus Station in Durrës (where you get off when coming from Tirana). The city of Durrës is not big, and there are several attractions worth visiting (mosque, arena ruins, seaside square). The sunset on the Adriatic Sea is amazing, recommended!
