The bus only contained 10 people, but when we arrived it was packed with Chinese tourists. They all come to hike, picknick or just enjoy the views as well. it was busy, but not too busy. entrance ticket it 65Yuan, which is a bit more than other parts of the wall. bus was 50rmb 1 way.

As we approached the Jingshanling area, the rolling hills and ancient watchtowers came into view, setting the stage for what would be an incredible day. We started our hike early in the morning, hoping to cover as much of the wall as possible. Our youngest was initially a bit hesitant about the steep steps, but her curiosity quickly took over. The Jingshanling section is known for its well-preserved but rugged terrain, which made the hike both challenging and rewarding. We took our time, stopping frequently to admire the breathtaking views and snap photos of the wall snaking its way across the mountains. One of the highlights of the hike was reaching one of the many watchtowers along the way. The kids loved imagining what life must have been like for the soldiers who once stood guard there. The Jingshanling section is less crowded than other parts of the Great Wall, which made the experience even more special. We often found ourselves alone on the wall, surrounded by the vast landscape. It felt like we had stepped back in time, walking in the footsteps of history. By the time we reached the end of our hike, everyone was tired but exhilarated. The kids were proud of themselves for completing the hike, and we were proud of them for taking on the challenge with such enthusiasm. We capped off the day playing in the snow at the entrance. We also enjoying some local food at one of the restaurants and reflecting on the incredible experience we had just shared. ✨Hotel Highlights- We got to participate in free daily activities such as painting and crafts which were amazing. We got to see the Great Wall from our rooms every day, visit it and hike up to it (although the hiking trail does not lead onto the Wall itself). The hotel hot springs are also amazing and make sure to book your slot at least a day in advance. ♨️Amenities- They provide all bathroom amenities you could require and when we needed cutlery etc. they happily and speedily provided them. 🛁Room Environment- the rooms are gorgeous and spacious although one room does not have a cupboard. 🍽️Breakfast- Breakfast was delicious with a variety of foods. At first we received delicious individual breakfast (due to less visitors in Chinese NY) and our last day we experienced their delectable buffet. 🛎️Hotel Service- Excellent service! In the depths of winter, I traveled to the Jinshanling Great Wall, hoping to see a silver-white feast, but was greeted by the magnificent snowless scenery under the blue sky. In the early morning, the sunlight gilded the Great Wall, and the bricks and stones were mottled after years of weathering. As I climbed the steps, the cold wind blew on my face, and the crenels stretched and meandered like a giant dragon lying across the mountains. The watchtowers stood solemnly, and although they were not decorated with snow, they were simple and majestic. Looking into the distance from the hollow tower, the mountains were layered, and the dry branches outlined cold lines, which complemented the heaviness of the Great Wall. In the afternoon, I strolled along the wall, where light and shadow intertwined. Touching the cold wall, I seemed to feel the smoke of war in the past. The surrounding mountains and forests were silent, and the occasional cawing of crows added to the emptiness. The beacon tower stood alone on the peak, and when I climbed to the top and looked down, the momentum of "one man guards the pass, ten thousand men cannot open it" came to me. The withered grass swayed between the bricks and stones, witnessing the change of seasons. In the evening, the afterglow dyed the Great Wall orange-red, and its outline became clearer. I returned with awe for history. The snowless deep winter of the Jinshanling Great Wall, with its vigorous and plain appearance, gave me a shocking time travel. Among these ancient bricks and stones, the stories of time never end.

Jinshanling Great Wall is located in Hebei Province. It was supervised and repaired by the famous Ming Dynasty general Qi Jiguang. As Jinshanling was on the front line, the density of watchtowers is the highest among all sections of the Great Wall. There are 158 watchtowers along the 20 km section. The architecture is ingenious, and the top of the wall is varied. It looks more beautiful than Badaling and Mutianyu, both in person and in photos. Whether viewed from afar or up close, the Great Wall is rugged and solid. Could the enemy really attack? Did it really need to be guarded so strictly? In fact, even the strongest fortifications could not withstand Wu Sangui. What could General Qi do? What could Jinshanling do? In the Qing Dynasty, construction of the Great Wall stopped. Emperor Kangxi believed that "the shape of the wall is difficult to rely on, and virtue is more important than danger."
