It is not like USJ or Disneyland which have rides, this is more like a museum where you get to see Ghibli scenes come to life. The nearest station is Aichikyuhaku Kinenkoen Station. There are also limited meitetsu buses from Nagoya station to the Park. It is a must go for Ghibli fans. It is just so surreal and magical to see the sets. You can even see Totoro behind a bar table. So cute! There is also limited edition short Ghibli films for us to watch in a theatre. It changes seasonally. It was a really nice experience over there. I wish to visit the Ghibli museum in 2024

You can either take a train to Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen station or take a Meitetsu shuttle bus from Nagoya station to Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. Unfortunately, these are not included in the JR Pass. Although they call it a themed park, it is more like a museum. You get to take lots of Ghibli scenes and see how they are created. There are some plagues at the entrance to record the history of this park and a convenience store - Lawson with souvenirs sold. Also there is a souvenir shop opposite to it, selling characters like Moonmin and his friends. Getting There - take the Higashimaya Line from Nagoya Station to Fujigaoka Station then change to the Linimo till the Ai-Chikyuhaku-Kinen-Koen Station and take a nice walk into the Expo. Attractions - Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park Hotels - none Food & Restaurants - some cafes/restaurants around but very limited choices. it’s a big area so do expect a lot of walking even to find food. Shopping - not many shopping, just souvenir shops selling some Totoro memorabilia and normal souvenir trinkets. Ticket - can be purchased at Family Mart’s kiosk machine. it does seem a little inconvenient to get to but it really worth the trip! we spent half a day there, the travel is quite a journey but you do have a nice view along the way plus the Linimo line is really cool! the very first and only magnetic line/train in the world, you can’t even feel it turn at the bends and it’s known to let you walk without swaying or falling! we tried it and it was so mind blowing, plus it was so smooth we fell asleep easily on the way back LOL the expo is HUGE, we almost got lost walking in but the view was so amazing that it didn’t matter where we were walking. there is a water park there too but it was closed when we went cause it was winter. there is also a tram to take if you don’t want to walk much and it brings you around the whole expo. the house itself needs tickets purchased earlier as it is a tour house exhibition/attraction. you get to see little Easter eggs from the movie, and even have a “find the object” game. tour guide will explain everything and is very friendly, even help us take pictures. you get more than enough time to look around, take lots of photos and play the game. 100% recommend visiting if you ever get the chance. especially if you are an avid fan of Studio Ghibli :) #wintergetaway #japan #studioghibli

The park currently features several themed areas, including the **Ghibli's Grand Warehouse**, which showcases precious animation sketches and scene models, as well as a photo-worthy 'Spirited Away' No-Face train carriage. 'Totoro' fans must visit the **Countryside Area**, where you can see Mei and Satsuki's house and even the adorable Catbus! The entire park is more than twice the size of Tokyo Disney Resort, so unless you have exceptional stamina, it's impossible to explore the entire park on foot in one day. If you have a premium ticket, the recommended order to visit the five areas is: 1. The Grand Warehouse, 2. Witch Valley, 3. Youth Hill, 4. Totoro Forest, and 5. Ghost Village. Regardless of the ticket type, you must choose an entry time for the Grand Warehouse. If you get a morning entry time, you can arrive at the park an hour early and explore Youth Hill, which is closest to the station, before queuing for the Grand Warehouse. The premium ticket costs 7,300 yen on weekdays and 7,800 yen on weekends, with an additional 110 yen service fee if purchased on the official Boo-Woo site. Compared to USJ's ticket prices and attractions, the cost-performance ratio is not high, so be prepared to lower your expectations. Tickets go on sale two months in advance, and since they are not cheap, it's best to plan ahead to avoid paying extra to agents. The premium ticket allows entry to buildings in Witch Valley (3), Youth Hill (1), and Totoro Forest (1) only once. The essence of Ghibli Park lies in recreating scenes from the animations, so the props inside the buildings are either real objects or highly accurate replicas. Most props can be touched and opened to observe their interiors, so once inside, be sure to explore the prop books, items, instruments, and furniture drawers for surprises. The park's essence and greatest playability lie in its faithful recreation of movie scenes. Ghost Village has no playability, but those who enjoy making Gohei Mochi can try it there. After visiting Totoro Forest, if you're too tired to walk to the next area, consider taking the Cat Bus directly to Ghost Village for 1,000 yen, which allows you to take photos with the bus for free. When there are fewer people, you can consider the free bus, but it runs only three times an hour, so plan accordingly. Regarding dining, after 1 PM, the restaurant at the entrance of Witch Valley has shorter lines, and with luck, you can be seated immediately or after a 10-minute wait. Finally, for those who criticize Ghibli Park for being unreasonable, remember that the Expo Memorial Park was originally for Aichi residents, with cultural and sports facilities before Ghibli Park was added. The large warehouse entry time needs to be reserved, the earlier, the better! Opening Hours 🕙 Weekdays 10:00-17:00, weekends and holidays 9:00-17:00. Ticket checks stop at 4:00 PM! The large warehouse closes at 4:30 PM, but the park itself remains open, allowing for last-minute photos of exterior scenes. Includes Howl's Castle 🏰, Witch Kiki's House, Kiki's Delivery Service Bakery 🍞, etc. Kiki's dorm behind the bakery is accessible without a premium ticket! Further along is the Witch's Bookstore, and the Witch's Thirteen Group is a must-buy at the exit! 🌲 Totoro's Forest: Without a premium ticket, it's skippable. If you can't enter Mei's House, a 20-minute hike leads to a large Totoro sculpture for kids, then take the cable car down. Visiting Ghibli Park is like stepping into a Hayao Miyazaki film. I purchased my tickets online in advance, opting for the "Great Walk" ticket instead of the premium one. Important tip: the entry time you select online is specifically for entering the Grand Warehouse. For example, if you book for 11 AM, you need to enter between 11 AM and 12 PM. It's advisable to head there first as it's the most popular spot, and we waited for over half an hour to get in, so plan accordingly! If you want a photo with No-Face, make sure to queue for this right after entering! It's the most sought-after photo op, and although it didn't seem crowded, we ended up waiting for a full hour. Thankfully, the photos turned out great. You can also snap a picture with the train conductor from "Spirited Away" nearby. Exploring the Grand Warehouse takes about 3-4 hours, so it's best to arrive early. Other areas of the park are less crowded, but they are spaced out, so you can leisurely visit them after the Grand Warehouse.
