Approaching the church, we were struck by its grand exterior, an imposing façade that spoke of both artistic mastery and religious significance. The pale stone exterior, adorned with intricate carvings of saints, cherubs, and other religious motifs, reflected the grandeur of European Baroque architecture. The twin spires rose high into the sky, commanding attention and giving the church a towering presence in the Poznan skyline. The contrast between the detailed stonework and the surrounding cityscape highlighted the church's prominence and historical significance. We were truly amazed by the exterior’s grandeur, a perfect example of European Baroque architecture blending religious devotion with artistic brilliance.

Affordable business hotel in the old town of Poznan, Poland, located in the city center of Poznan, in front of the Fontanna Wolności Square Park. In the center of the square there is a fountain that looks like the wings of a sailboat, and there is a light show at night. The hotel is not far from Polish Theatre, Zegar mozaikowy Clock, Old Town Square and other attractions, and has an excellent location. The rooms at B&B Hotel are simple and are divided into double or family rooms. We stayed in a double room of about 5 square meters. The room design was simple and clean. The headboard was painted with colorful buildings in the Poznan city area, which looked very cute. The housing prices are affordable, with the average price ranging from NT$1500 to NT$2000. You can either use the elevator or use your own feet to climb up 185 steps to the top. The student ticket is €1 so remember to bring the valid student ID! You can also the museum in the castle with the ticket as well.

It took me 2 hours to get there by train. The ticket is half price if you are a student with a valid physical student card. unfortunately when I was there, the old market square was under construction lol but the royal palace only cost me €1 (student price!)

The site is divided into 9 zones, among which are tropical vegetation, succulents of America or xerophytes.

The inside smells like candles and old wood. Sunlight comes through the stained glass in these colorful patches that move across the floor as the day goes on. My favorite time is late afternoon when it's quiet and you can hear the river outside. There's this one chapel in the back that always has fresh flowers - no idea why, but I like checking what's there each time. And if you're lucky, you might catch the organist practicing with all the wrong notes, which somehow makes it feel more real. Best part: the admission is free.

#europeonbudget One of the main types of attraction in Europe has to be churches/cathedrals, most of which are not only impressive in different styles but even free. And this basilica is my favorite free sanctuary in the Eastern Europe. No tickets, no lines - just push open the heavy wooden door and step into another world. The neo-Gothic arches catch the light differently each time I visit, painting new shadows across the worn stone floors. I always leave a few złoty for candles by the icon, watching their flames dance in the drafty nave. That's the real admission fee here - not money, but moments of quiet wonder stolen from the city's rush outside.

#hostellife This was a “new” hostel in a way that it didn’t do dormitory styled room but only hotel rooms. But now it takes one of the rooms and fit in some hostel bunkbeds. With that, the facilities are bound to be classic looking. The lobby, dining restaurant and common areas were beautifully decorated in the local elements. Service was warm too, even tho I checked in after 12am, and they kept helping to refill my water seeing me thirsty after a long trip from Berlin. I managed to snatch a bed at around RM74/night, with an additional RM30 cashback rebate. What a steal! But one thing to note for fellow backpackers is that to any hotel/hostels with carpet, do not unpack luggages on the floor to minimize the risk of bed bug infection. Coz anyone could bring bed bugs to the premises, but carpet that’s built into the room would be difficult to sterilise. The railings, heavy with love locks, add a romantic, lived-in feel—each one a quiet testimony to a story, a promise, a memory. The long shadows and crisp blue sky give the scene a cinematic, almost dreamlike quality. It feels calm and contemplative—an intersection of history, devotion, and modern symbolism.

The most iconic mascot of Poznań is the goat. Every day at noon, two goats appear in the small window of the Town Hall clock tower and clash their horns. As noon approaches, the area in front of the Town Hall in the Old Town is already packed with people eagerly waiting for the goats to clash their horns. When the clock strikes twelve, the sound of a horn is played from the tower, and the small door above the clock slowly opens. Two goats emerge, nodding in time with the chimes and clashing their horns 12 times. Right in front of us, a group of children was counting the number of clashes, making the experience even more delightful.

Poznan's Old Town Square is located in the old town on the west bank of the Warta River. The Town Hall and the surrounding market square have mythical historical attractions and colorful beautiful buildings. There is a Rococo-style fountain of Roman mythological figures in each corner of the square, representing the Queen of Hell, the Sun God, the Poseidon and the God of War. The Old Town Square is not large and there are not many people, so it is very comfortable to walk around. I casually walked into the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Mary Magdalene (Fara Church), a pink and white Baroque building located in an alley. It was built in the 17th century, destroyed during World War II, and rebuilt after the war. The interior of the church is decorated with gorgeous marble columns and gold-plated decorations. I happened to see someone practicing on the organ, so I sat down and listened to a few pieces of music quietly. I specifically looked for a small shop on the street corner selling St. Martin’s Croissant. This unique croissant, which is protected by EU regulations, can only be found in Poznan. #AprilGoodDestinations2025

Located on Ostrów Tumski Island, the Poznań Cathedral (Archcathedral Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul) is the oldest cathedral in Poland. Despite enduring centuries of natural disasters and the devastation of wars, it was rebuilt after World War II. Lamp posts along the streets feature hollow crown emblems, signifying the site's designation as a national historical monument. The surrounding area is very peaceful. Walking across the reconstructed Jordan Bridge, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the cathedral from the river.

The front desk staff were very professional and checked me in with a smile. 🛏️The comfort of the room was beyond my imagination. The spacious room, soft bedding, and exquisite bathroom facilities made me feel comfortable and at ease. It is particularly worth mentioning that the room has a great view, and I could see the beautiful scenery outside the window every morning when I woke up. I have to mention the hotel's nighttime service. Every night, there is professional butler service. They will prepare everything you need, making you feel at home even when traveling.
