I really wanted to visit Shimantoya. Unfortunately, fishing for wild eels is prohibited in March, so eels are farmed instead, but they were still delicious. ✨ If you want wild eels, we recommend checking the fishing opening date. The river shrimp, black porgy, and green laver tempura that we ordered were also delicious! The first floor is a souvenir shop, and the second floor is a restaurant. Shimanto Inn The Japanese-modern space was very relaxing. The food was well-presented and beautifully presented, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had salt-seared fish several times during my stay in Kochi, but this was the best. I also ordered grouper tempura and fried grouper from the a la carte menu (the last two pictures), which were also delicious. There is a spot within the facility where you can see the beautiful sunrise, but unfortunately it was cloudy on the morning of my stay. In the morning, I woke up at the hotel, had breakfast, and headed to Uwajima Castle, one of the 12 remaining castle towers. Although it wasn't a large castle tower, it had a certain charm. After that, I drove to Uwajima Station and boarded the 09:33 local train bound for Kubokawa. It was about a two and a half hour ride to the last stop. At first, the train moved slowly along the poor track. There was no river in sight. However, after about an hour, the situation suddenly changed at Ekawasaki Station! With the beautiful view of the Shimanto River to the side, the train sped along at 85km/h on the high-standard track, which was built using bridges and tunnels through the rugged mountains. It felt very exhilarating. This is because this section was built relatively recently. You can also see the sunken bridges many times. In 1999, the former Nishitosa Village Nakahan Elementary School was closed. Shimanto Rakusha was established to utilize the site of the closed school. After leaving the city of Kochi, we drove along National Highway 56 towards Shimanto City. This journey of more than 100 kilometers was like riding on the Northern Yi Highway.
